  • This paper describes the development of gimbals engine actuation system for KSR(Korean Sounding Rocket)-III which performs the attitude control of pitch and yaw axes by thrust vector control of liquid propellant gimbals engine. The development requirements of configuration, performance and environment are introduced, and the principles and details of components and system development are discussed. The developed system successfully fulfilled its own performance and environmental evaluation. It will be planned to perform verification of interface and integration compatibility with other related systems, and then mounted on KSR-III as a flight hardware system.

  • This paper is summarized for designing launch vehicle autopilot structure with attitude angle command from guidance algorithm and for evaluating performance of autopilot using launch vehicle six-degree of freedom simulation program. The suggested autopilot has heritage from KSR-III/KSLV-I upper stage autopilot designing experience, and it has two design point. The one is, it must have same performance with KSR-III/KSLV-I upper stage autopilot, the other is, it must be simple autopilot structure and use low number of variable to apply on-board system. It is evaluated the performance using launch vehicle six-degree of freedom simulation program in case of roll maneuvering and no roll control flight condition.

  • Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) are widely used as the main navigation device for aircraft. To get the initial attitude, the INS requires the initial alignment before navigation starts. An aircraft also needs an engine test procedure that causes some vibrations before flight. An INS can't be aligned in a vibration environment so the initial alignment is performed before the aircraft engine test. Therefore, the initial alignment time of an INS has been a major factor in limiting an aircraft's takeoff response time. In this paper, we designed an initial alignment algorithm that can be executed even in disturbances such as aircraft run-up. We demonstrated verification of the algorithm that is embedded on the real INS and testing methods to evaluate the alignment of the INS. We also analyzed the test results of the proposed initial alignment algorithm that is performed during a real aircraft run-up.

  • Ever since high resolution satellites were launched, high-resolution satellite images have been utilized in many areas. This paper proposed methods of generating simulated satellite image using DEM(Digital Elevation Model) and digital image such as aerial photograph. There are two methods proposed in the paper: one is Direct-Indirect method and the other Indirect-Indirect, method. It is assumed that satellite attitude is not changing and perspective center is moving in the direction of flight while image is captured. The proposed methods were implemented with aerial photograph, DEM data, arbitrary orbit parameters and attitude parameters of high resolution satellite image under generation. Furthermore, for the stereo viewing, different orientation parameters and perspective center were tested for generating simulated satellite image. In addition, the quality and accuracy of the simulated satellite image generated by the proposed methods were analyzed.

  • A performance characteristics and application status of liquid-monopropellants used for 3-axis control thrusters are surveyed, in this paper. Hydrogen peroxide was widely used as monopropellant until mid-1960s, but it is rapidly replaced with hydrazine which has better performance of specific impulse, storability, and so on. Hydrazine is mostly employed as a liquid-monopropellant of satellite, interplanetary spacecraft, and space launch vehicle owing to its moderate performance features.

  • We formulated the convex optimization based minimum energy soft landing problem for reusable launch vehicles, and obtained the minimum time trajectory via the bisection search. In order to implement the the optimal guidance command and complete the flight control architectures on the soft landing stage, we designed the classical attitude control loops, and formulated and solved the optimal actuator allocation problem. The obtained soft landing guidance performance was analyzed via nonlinear 6-DOF simulation.

  • A transfer alignment is used to initialize, align, and calibrate a SINS(Slave INS) using a MINS(Master INS) in motion. This paper presents an airborne transfer alignment with velocity and azimuth matching to estimate inertial sensor biases under the wing flexure influence. This study also considers the lever arm, time delay and relative orientation between MINS and SINS. The traditional transfer alignment only uses velocity matching. In contrast, this paper utilizes the azimuth matching to prevent divergence of the azimuth when the aircraft is stationary or quasi-stationary since the azimuth is less affected by the wing flexibility. The performance of the proposed Kalman filter is analyzed using two factors; one is the estimation performance of gyroscope and accelerometer bias and the other is comparing aircraft dynamics and attitude covariance. The performance of the proposed filter is verified using a long term flight test. The test results show that the proposed scheme can be effectively applied to various platforms that require airborne transfer alignment.

  • This study empirically examines the effect of the psychological empowerment of airline cabin crews on customer-focused job performance attitude, service behavior by CSM, and service behavior beyond CSM. The research model and associated hypotheses were verified with the structural equation model. The findings of the study reveal that psychological empowerment has a effect on customer-focused job performance attitude and service behavior by CSM, but no effect on service behavior beyond CSM. And it is also shown that customer-focused job performance attitude has an effect on service behavior by CSM but no effect on service behavior beyond CSM. In addition, customer-focused job performance attitude shows a mediating effect between psychological empowerment and service behavior by CSM. On the other hand, it is analyzed that there is no mediating effect between psychological empowerment and service behavior beyond CSM. This study implies that the psychological empowerment and customer-focused job performance attitude of cabin crews are important at point of contact with customers to improve service quality, and psychological empowerment reinforces service behavior by CSM on the premise of customer-focused job performance attitude.

  • A liquid-monopropellant hydrazine thruster has several outstanding advantages such as relatively-simple structure, long/stable propellant storability, clean exhaust products, and so on. Therefore hydrazine thruster has such a wide application as orbit and attitude control system (ACS) for space vehicles. A hydrazine thruster with the medium-level thrust to be used in the ACS of space launch vehicles (SLV) has been developed, and its ground firing test result is presented in terms of thrust, impulse bit, temperature, and chamber pressure. It is verified through the performance test that the response and repeatability of thrust are very excellent, and the thrust efficiencies compared to its ideal requirement are larger than 93%.

  • To improve the survivability of a missile, it needs to be lowered that the detection possibility by radars on the ground. The radar exposure of the target is given as a function of relative distance from the radar to the target and RCS (Radar Cross Section). The RCS of the missile is determined by the incidence angle of the target to electromagnetic radiation emitted from the radar. Under the assumption that the missile equips appropriate attitude control system, the attitude of the missile to minimize radar exposure at a high altitude is investigated in this paper. Two different types of performance cost are considered: the total sum of RCS and the total sum of SNR during the flight. Optimal solutions against multiple ground radars are found by using a SQP (Sequential Quadratic Programming)-based optimization technique.
