This study develops a improved gate assignment algorithm and decision support system using its algorithm to extract a assignment result minimizing a walking distance of passengers in airport and maximizing the utilization rate of avaliable gates in domestic airports. By operation support system, it may contribute greatly in efficient enlargement of airport operation and increase the airport reliability through quickly coping with takeoff and landing delay of flight due to weather change, preservation and repair of gate, etc. Also, passengers who use airport terminal can minimize time and walking distance for departure, arrival, and transit, and it may greatly reduce the additional operation cost for common gates through maximizing the utilization rate for exclusive usage gates for airplanes which use gates.
A trajectory-based scheduling system is proposed for air traffic management using next generation aviation data communication link. Based on the service concept of 4-dimensional trajectory data link (4DTRAD) using air traffic serveices (ATS) datalink Baseline 2, a procedure for trajectory-based operation of an en-route flight is established and described in detail. To mitigate air traffic controllers' workload which might be caused by various and complicated data utilization, a prototype of the scheduling system, which predicts the aircraft trajectory based on the flight intents received by air traffic service system and provides advisory information for air traffic control, was developed. The simulation environment for trajectory based operation was built to validate the scheduling functionality of the prototype.
Recently, various robots are being used for the purpose of structural inspection or safety diagnosis, and their needs are also rising rapidly. Among the structural inspection using robots, a lot of researches has recently been conducted on inspection of various facilities and structures using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). However, since GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) signals cannot be received in an environment near or below structures, the operation of UAVs has been done manually. For a stable autonomous flight without GNSS signals, additional technologies are required. This paper proposes the autonomous flight system for structural inspection consisting of simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), path planning, and controls. The experiments were conducted on an actual large bridge to verify the feasibility of the system, and especially the performance of the proposed SLAM algorithm was compared through comparative analysis with the state-of-the-art algorithms.

In this paper, an embedded program of a flight control system for a small high performance UAV is introduced. The program consists of modules for device management and guidance and control. The device management system handles navigation sensors and mission equipments. The program for the guidance and control system is used to accomplish various kinds of missions and realize automation of flight control. Driver programs embedded in the device management system for operation of sensors and external devices are based on Texas Instrument's DSP/BIOS RTOS(realtime operating system). The on-board programs for the guidance and control system is obtained by using the model-based auto code generation technology.
In this study, we proposed a water rocket CULV-1 (Chosun University Launch Vehicle-1). Unlike a conventional water rocket, CULV-1 can perform the booster rocket, fairing, and payload separation like an actual launch vehicle and also the imaging data acquisition. The conceptual and critical design of the proposed CULV-1 have been performed considering the operation characteristics. The verification tests have been performed from subsystem to system level in accordance with the established test specifications and verification procedures. Through the final launch test of the flight model, we have verified the design effectiveness of the proposed separation mechanisms for water rocket applications and the mission requirements of the CULV-1 also have been complied.

The proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is regarded as the most promising alternative power sources for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) due to its high energy density and silent operation. Since there are many load changes during UAV flight, thermal management is one of the important factor for the performance of PEMFC. In order to reduce the UAV weight for the stable operation of UAV, thermal management system (TMS) studied in this work does not use the fan but use the air flowing into UAV by UAV flight. In order to develop the passive type heat exchanger (HEX) for 1kW PEMFC, four types of HEXs are fabricated and their cooling performances are compared. The parametric study on the cooling performance of HEXs has performed with the variation of operating parameters such as mass flow rates and inlet temperature of air and coolant. Type 4 has the best performance in every case. This study can be helpful to achieve the optimal design of HEX for PEMFC powered UAV.

The power control system of Smart UAV is similar to the propeller pitch governing concept of turboprop aircraft. The pilot adjusts the engine power directly and the pitch governor controls the propeller pitch to maintain the propeller rotational speed. The electronic engine controller(EEC) of PW206C engine developed for helicopter is not fit for the power control concept of Smart UAV, and therefore the manual back-up system of PW206C engine is used for the engine power control of Smart UAV. Engine performance estimation program is used to predict the control range of power lever angle(PLA) according to the variation of engine output shaft speed, flight altitude and flight speed. These data provide a guide for the PLA control in manual mode operation.

A key component of aviation safety is to eliminate the errors in commercial aircraft air data systems to ensure stable aviation operation. Although the technical aspects such as the maintenance and inspection play a pertinent role, human errors are expected to have a similar or even larger influence on the aviation safety. Aviation maintenance and inspection tasks are often performed by a complex organization, in which individuals perform a variety of tasks in an environment involving time pressure, sparse feedback, and complex conditions. These situational characteristics, combined with the general tendency of human error, may lead to various types of errors, which may have critical consequences such as accidents and loss of life. For instance, if an amber message "IAS DISAGREE" is displayed on the primary flight display while the aircraft is rolling on the runway to takeoff, the crew immediately performs a rejected takeoff operation and troubleshoots the air data system. This paper proposes alternative approaches to address the occurrence of defects due to the human factors involved in the practical processes of the air data system of commercial aircraft.

The flight test operational procedure artifact includes mission planning, execution methods, and safety measures for each step of test progress. As the development of guided missiles has become more advanced and strategic, flight test has become increasingly complex and broadened. Therefore, increased reliability of the flight test operation procedures was required to ensure test safety. Particularly, the design of the flight test operational procedures required verification through M&S to predict and prepare for the uncertainty in a new test. The relevant studies have published the optimal framework development for flight tests and the model-based improvements of flight test processes, but they lacked the specificity to be applied directly to the flight test operational procedures. In addition, the flight test operational procedures, which consist of document bases, have caused problems such as limitations of analysis capabilities, insensitive expressions, and lack of scalability for the behavior and performance analysis of test resources. To improve these problems, this paper proposes how to design operational procedure of guided missile flight test system by applying MBSE(Model-based Systems Engineering). This research has improved reliability by increasing the ability to analyze the behavior and performance of test resources, and increased efficiency with the scalability applicable to multiple flight tests. That can be also used continuously for the guided missile flight tests that will be developed in the future.
The conceptual design lunar lander demonstrator has been developed to use as a test bed for advanced spacecraft technologies and to test a prototype planetary lander capable of vertical takeoff and landing. Size of the lunar lander demonstrator is the same as that of lunar lander conceptually designed, however, the weight of lunar lander demonstrator is designed in 1/6 scale in consideration of gravity difference between moon and earth. The thruster clustering and virtual flight test were performed in the demonstrator fixed on the ground. The demonstrator ground test has been conducted for two months in the test site for the solid motor combustion of the Goheung Flight Center. The purposes of ground test of demonstrator are to demonstrate and verify essential electronics, propulsion system, control algorithm, embedded software, structure and system operation technologies before developing the flight model lander. This paper is described about the virtual flight test including test configuration, test aims and test facilities
