In spite of ICAO's effort to ensure the safety of flight operation by requiring crews, controllers, and other ground aviation staffs to use unified system for units, SI (System International of units), there are still many aircrafts designed, manufactured, and operated based on non-SI units, and many crew training in airline companies are also conducted based on non-SI. Due to this confusion of using different unit systems in international flight operation, many crew members and passengers are exposed to danger. International flights pilots may have confusion while flying different airspaces of different countries that use different unit systems, and this may cause human errors causing accidents and incidents. Due to these reasons, it is needed to establish the standards to reflect non-SI that many countries practically use to SI, which is international standard.

The aviation industry has continued to grow despite the influence of external environmental factors such as SARS and MERS. However, this growth has led to a sharp decrease in air traffic and a crisis of flight suspension due to the collapse of the global value chain and the decline of the world economy as the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the decrease in the number of international flights, aviation workers such as pilots and cabin crew were exposed to high psychological stress and fatigue, such as large-scale layoffs, job instability, decrease in income, and increased risk of infection during. Recently, the international community has eased immigration restrictions through quarantine activities, and airlines are taking a step further to recover existing air demand. However, during the crisis period, a significant number of professional workers have been turned off or fired, and the physical and mental fatigue of those who can perform their duties is increasing. Therefore, this paper intends to examine the direction of policy improvement and the identification of problems in aviation safety and fatigue management after the pandemic.

This paper tried to research the relationship among the passenger's satisfaction and expectation of in-flight service quality, overall satisfaction and passenger's Loyalty by emphasizing on two groups of passengers and cabin crews from K-airline to find out which service quality area should be focused on for pursuing premium in-flight service. Such six service quality areas as in-flight equipment, food&beverage, duty-free sales, service ability, service image and specialized service were conceived and survey questions were made based on relevant previous researches. The analysis has used the data of 281 passengers and 336 cabin crews from K-airline. According to the analysis, in physical service factors, passengers perceive satisfaction from duty-free sales contributes to overall service satisfaction. However, cabin crews believed in-flight equipment and food&beverage are important to overall service satisfaction. In human service factors, both groups seemed to agree service ability and service image have a positive impact on overall service satisfaction. Among service satisfaction factors, the customer's satisfaction from cabin crew's service ability(service response, professional knowledge and foreign language skill) is also proven to be directly connected to customer loyalty.

Nowadays aviation noise significantly affects a number of people over the world. This paper is mainly focused on the effect of temporary and permanent hearing loss of cockpit crew, flight attendants, passengers, persons in communities exposed to aircraft overflight. Also this paper describes the human hearing mechanism and the processes of temporary and permanent hearing loss. The results of research are presented and the potential for hearing loss in aviation noise environments evaluated. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) hearing protection criteria are also addressed.

Since the World Health Organization (WHO) officially announced a global pandemic on March 12, 2020, the aviation industry in the world has been experiencing difficulties for a long time. Meanwhile, the Ukraine war broke out in February, and from March 15, domestic airlines must operate air routes bypassing Russian airspace despite the longer flight time. Therefore, as the flight time increases, the cosmic radiation exposure dose of the crew members is also expected to increase. Here we compare the radiation exposure dose between the route doses for the eastern United States and Europe before and after the detour route usage. Through the comparison analysis, we tried to understand how cosmic radiation changes depending on the flight time and the latitude and which one contributes more. We expect that this study can be used for the policy update for the safety management of cosmic radiation for aircrews in Korea.

부조종사자격증명(MPL)제도는 ICAO에 의해 도입되고 운영되는 새로운 개념의 조종사자격증명제도이다. MPL 훈련생들은 역량기반훈련방식을 통해 교육받는다. 본 논문에서는 MPL 국내 운영을 위한 교육·훈련 방안들을 제시하기 위해 ICAO와 국내 항공종사자(조종사)의 자격관리, 국내외 항공사 취업요건, MPL제도 관련 운영현황 등을 확인했다. 또한 국내 MPL 관련 제도적 여건과 국내 항공전문교육기관 및 항공훈련센터, 항공사의 조종사 수급관련 현황, 제도 운영 관련 항공사·훈련생의 관심사항 등의 확인을 통해 국내에서의 운영 가능성을 살펴보았다. 그리고 국내에서 운영하기 위한 방안을 3가지로 나누어 제시했다.

Aircraft accidents these days, following the mega sizing trend of the aircraft, result in enormous losses of human lives apart from those of property, which cannot be replaced by any means. As most recently, in April 20, 2012, a Boeing 737 passenger plane departed Karachi on an augural flight to Islamabad, Pakistan, crashed close to an express highway on final approach, all 121 passengers and 6 crew members were killed. As such a large number of fatalities have been recorded in aircraft accidents while accident investigation results show that more than 95% of aircraft accidents are now survivable. There are three basic stages in surviving the aircraft accident: surviving the crash impact, the evacuation process and the hostile post evacuation environmental elements. These stages require the cabin crew's expeditious and appropriate actions on the basis of systematic and thorough cabin safety training in order to increase occupants' survivability, along with the passengers' preparedness. In this aspect, this paper examines the issues acting as the impediments to the passenger survival in inflight emergency situations, that are the deficiencies with cabin crew safety training, related performances and the shortcomings in passengers' knowledge on inflight safety information, leading to their inappropriate responses to emergency situations. These issues are analyzed and the root causes are identified, suggesting the resolving countermeasures.

본 연구는 국내 주요 항공사 승무원을 대상으로 업무 특성상 일시적 해외 체류 시 라이프 스타일과 여가유형을 조사하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 선행연구를 바탕으로, 객실승무원의 근무 실정에 맞는 라이프스타일과 여가활동 내용을 발췌하여 설문항목을 작성하였다. 분석방법은 수집된 데이터를 바탕으로 내적일관성을 확인하는 신뢰도 분석과 요인분석을 실시하였으며, 라이프스타일은 문화체험 지향형, 성공 추구형, 사교성 지향형, 인간다움 추구형, 유행 추구형, 쇼핑 선호형, 건강지향형의 7개 요인이 추출되었다. 또한 여가유형은 휴식형, 스포츠형, 관광활동형의 3개 요인이 추출되었다. 라이프스타일에서 추출된 요인들을 군집 분석 한 결과, 군집1은 소극적 라이프스타일 형, 군집2는 적극적 라이프스타일 형, 군집3은 자아만족 라이프스타일 형으로 분석되었다. 항공사 객실승무원의 라이프스타일 유형분석은 직장인의 짧은 해외 출장 시 여가시간을 잘 활용할 수 있는 근간을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.

항공사에서는 보다 효과적인 교육훈련을 실시하고자 실무와 연계한 훈련 프로그램을 도입하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 항공사들은 항공 인력의 실무 역량 강화 및 안전 문화 증진을 위해 증거 기반 훈련(EBT)을 시행해 오고 있다. 항공사들은 효과적인 EBT 모델 개발을 위해 운항 데이터 및 사례 연구를 분석하여 항공 인력의 역량 및 실무 능력을 체계적으로 평가할 수 있다. 또한 승무원 자원 관리(CRM)와 같은 기술적 방법 및 인적 요인을 포함하는 전체적인 접근법을 적용하여 EBT 모델을 구성할 수 있다. EBT 도입으로 인해 항공사들은 조종사의 실무 업무에 대한 진단 및 피드백 시스템을 구축하게 되며 개인 맞춤형 교육을 제공할 수 있고 교육 성과를 거쳐 교육 효과를 검증하는 교육훈련 체계를 확립하게 된다.

Purpose - This study was intended to provide implications for the importance of color to airlines where the image customers feel about the business is paramount. The importance of colors shown by the airline crew, an important human resource for airlines as contact workers, was investigated. We wanted to present suggestions by investigating and comparing the difference in customer attitude regarding the color of uniforms of the airline crew. Research design, data, and methodology - A survey was conducted to examine differences in perception of airline uniform color, with the research that suggests that the customer's attitude to uniform color will vary. The difference in the perception of passengers according to the colors of the airline uniforms was determined by conducting an empirical analysis. Results - Customers have a different attitude about the color of the uniform of airline's flight attendants' uniform. Full service airlines (FSC) generally have a bright, calm, neat, and heavy-handed feeling, while low-cost carriers (LCC) have a distinctive, dynamic, energetic, and cheerful feeling. Conclusions - An empirical analysis of the study found that customers' attitudes vary by uniform color for each airline. It has also been revealed that Airline's uniform color can communicate the company's goals it wants to convey.
