Digital Linear Control System for a Magnetic Bearing System of a High Vacuum Turbomolecular Pump (고진공 터보 분자펌프용 자기베어링 시스템의 디지털 선형 제어시스템)

  • In this paper, a digital controller of magnetic bearing system for a high vacuum turbomolecular pump (TMP) is designed and examined. For stabilizing and providing damping in magnetic bearing, the digital PID controller is applied for each 5 control axes, and the inter-axis cross feedback controller is also applied to suppress low frequency vibration caused by gyroscopic moment of the rotor at high speed of rotation. The fabricated rotor-shaft has its first flexible natural frequency lower than maximum speed, about 614Hz, so the two lead filters are applied to increase damping of flexible mode. Notch filters with rotating frequency were selected to reduce vibration of the pump housing caused by unbalance load. The implemented controllers are verified by examination of frequency response and rotating test up to 40,000 rpm, which is higher than critical speed of backward flexible mode.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop the flexible manufacturing system (FMS), which is cooperated with the automatic warehouse and inventory control under holonic manufacturing system (HMS). The HMS is a next wave of manufacturing revolution to deal with dynamic changing. The architecture of HMS is developed for cooperation system between the automatic warehouse agents and the manufacturing agents. This research applies the concept of HMS to develop a distributed control system for automatic warehouse and FMS by industrial network. The parts of prototype manufacturing agents consist of the conveyer system and 3-axises robot that provide the variety patterns in order to work as punch process. Each order of productions depends on the reorder points(RP) of inventory levels. The computation results indicate an improvement by comparing with traditional centralized control.

  • The real time control system for FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System) is implemented at this paper. To achieve this goal, the Colored and Timed Petri-Net model is constructed and used to simulate the real time operation of FMS. Using the Colored and Timed Petri-Net model, evaluating any kind of FMS plant is possible. On-line shceduler, intelligent dispatcher, real time monitor and the simulation model of shop floor are contructed using LAN communication, relational database system in this paper. Finally, this real time control system is applied to the FMS/CIM center at Seoul National University.

  • The purpose of this paper is to describe an effective cell scheduling system for flexible manufacturing cells. Based on the FMC characteristics, cell scheduling can be defined as a dynamic modified flow shop working in a real-time system. This paper attempt to find the optimal cell scheduling when minimizing the mean flow time for n-job/m-machine problems in static and dynamic environments. Real-time scheduling in an FMC environment requires rapid computation of the schedule.

  • A design issue for a flexible manufacturing system is to find the number of each resource type which assures a given production ratio with a minimal cost. The FMS is modeled as a closed queueing network with a local buffer of limited capacity. An efficient method to determine this optical configuration is presented. The proposed method consists of three steps : 1) determine a lower configuration, 2) derive a heuristic solution, 3) find the optimal solution. The derived heuristic solutions are close to the optical solution.

  • This paper intends to develope the multi-objective loading model in a flexible manufacturing system (FMS) to support decision maker under fuzzy environment. To obtain the optimal solution, this paper uses interactive fuzzy multi-objective linear programing(IFMOLP) and describes the process of optimal solution. As a case study, numerical examples are demonstrated to show the effectiveness of the proposed model.

  • This paper is aimed to construct a CIM(Computer Intergrated Manufacturing) model through optimal flexible manufacturing systems for factory automation in order to provide higher productivity. This paper provides a ease through an analytical method to construct flexible manufacturing systems for factory automation. The contents of this paper include forecasting of demands which analyze variation of demand using Winter's model, line balancing utilizing Lanked Positional Weight Method, and a case analysis through simulation by Monte Carlor Method. The result shows the manpower and net present value of investment have decreased 42% and 19.6%, respectively, and yearly net profit has increased 30%.

  • This paper describes an approach for the incorporation of maintenance times into a hierarchical scheduling for a failure prone flexible manufacturing system. The maintenance should not be performed too often because of the resulting reduction of capacity. Most manufacturing systems are large and complex. It is natural to divide the control into a hierarchy consisting of a number of different levels. Each level is characterized by the length of the planning horizon and the kind of data required for the decision making process. The goal of the analysis reported here is to calculate the production requirements while the machines fail and are repaired at random times. The machine failure and preventive maintenance are considered simultaneously.

  • Increased complexity of products and their manufacturing processing demans higher quality control and monitoring than ever before. Therefore, flexible automatization or flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) offer numerous advantages over alternative manufacturing methods. In this state, a in-process monitoring is one of the important flexible automation system. And as use of NC and CNC machine tool has been increasing, cutting work has automating and it is necessary to develop the automatic production system combined a couple of machine tool. Thus, in this paper to search examination it can measure the tool wear and the tool life and can be more practical research subject.

  • Recently, a quite large number of investigation is published on the subject of Flexible Manufacturing System which can cope with the volatile market demand and the variety of product. Minimum requirement of designing FMS is depicted and by investigating the communication system between the machine tool and the cell control computer, ana between the central computer and the cell control computer, when it is formed as a sub-system of an FEM, the software can be evolved to the control software of the total Flexible Manufacturing System. It is developed the communication system between the central computer and the cell control computer which is the basic structure of the control architecture of FMS under the concept of DNC (Direct Numerical Control). It is used CYBER 180-830 as the central computer, and GMC-1100 computer as the cell control computer, and the main basic program is developed and tested, thus forming a DNC system which can be used in educational environment.
