  • Purpose: To find an empirical fitting curve to represent the relationship between the luminous transmittance and tinted time in tinted lenses using exponential decay curves. Methods: Total ninety tinted lenses were prepared with CR-39 lenses and six different colored dyes. Single, double and triple exponential decay curves were used as trial curves in order to find the empirical fitting curve. Result: The results showed that the best empirical fitting curve was triple exponential decay curves. Conclusions: We propose triple exponential decay curves as proper empirical fitting curves to represent the tinted-time dependence of the luminous transmittance in tinted lenses.

  • This paper aims at selecting the multi-response design with γ responses minimizing the bias error caused by fitting inadequate models to responses, where the first order models are fitted to Ρ responses fearing the quadratic bias, while to other γ- Ρ responses, the quadratic models are fitted fearing the cubic biases in the cuboidal region of interest. Under the assumption of symmetric design, by minimizing the criterion which represents the amount of error caused by fitting inadequate models, the optimum design was found to be the one having the design moments of second order and the fourth order as 1/3 and l/5, respectively. Examples of the design meeting the required conditions are given for illustration.

  • A new Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) wavelength demodulation scheme is studied in the paper, which consists of an improved de-noising method and Gaussian fitting peak searching algorithm. The improved translational invariant wavelet without threshold adjust factor is proposed to get a better de-noising performance for FBG sensor signal and overcome the drawbacks of soft or hard threshold wavelets. In order to get a high wavelength demodulation precision of FBG sensor signal, this de-noising method is designed to combine with Gaussian fitting peak searching algorithm. The simulation results show that the wavelength maximum measurement error is lower than 1pm, and can get a much higher accuracy.

  • Shrink-rings (stress-rings) are used in the fabrication of compaction dies to increase the allowable pressures for a given die material. This paper proposes a new approach, where the maximum allowable shrinking pressures are calculated on shrinked plans in the radial direction and then the fractional fitting pressures below the maximum shrinking pressures are used as the design values. A computer program, DIECAD, is developed. The paper presents two design cases as examples in order to easily illustrate the design procedures from the computer program DIECAD

  • An efficient method is presented to design filters without the similarity transform of their coupling coefficient matrix as circuit parameters, which is very tedious due to pivoting and deciding rotation angles needed during the iterations. The transfer function of a filter is directly used for the design and its desired form is derived by the optimized rational-function fitting technique. A 3rd order coaxial lowpass filter is taken as an example to validate the proposed method.

  • The hybrid geoid model should be determined by fitting the gravimetric geoid to the geometric geoid which were presented the local vertical level. Therefore, it is necessary to find firstly the optimal scheme for improving the accuracy of gravimetric geoid in order to development the high-precision hybrid geoid model. Through finding the optimal scheme for determining the each part of gravimetric geoid, the most accurate gravimetric geoid model in Korea will be developed when the EIGEN-CG03C model to degree 360, 4-band spherical FFT and RTM reduction methods were used for determining the long, middle and short-frequency part of gravimetric geoid respectively. Finally, we developed the hybrid geoid model around Korea by correcting to gravimetric geoid with the correction term. The correction term is modelled using the difference between GPS/Levelling derived geoidal heights and gravimetric geoidal heights. The stochastic model used in the calculation of correction term is the LSC technique based on second-order Markov covariance function. 503 GPS/Levelling data were used to model the correction term. The degree of LSC fitting to the final hybrid geoid model in Korea was evaluated as 0.001m ${\pm}0.054m$.

  • Since correlation filter appeared in the field of object tracking, it plays an increasingly vital role due to its excellent performance. Although many sophisticated trackers have been successfully applied to track the object accurately, very few of them attaches importance to the scale and rotation estimation. In order to address the above limitation, we propose a novel method combined with Fourier-Mellin transform and confidence evaluation strategy for robust object tracking. In the first place, we construct a correlation filter to locate the target object precisely. Then, a log-polar technique is used in the Fourier-Mellin transform to cope with the rotation and scale changes. In order to achieve subpixel accuracy, we come up with an efficient surface fitting mechanism to obtain the optimal calculation result. In addition, we introduce a confidence evaluation strategy modeled on the output response, which can decrease the impact of image noise and perform as a criterion to evaluate the target model stability. Experimental experiments on OTB100 demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves superior capability in success plots and precision plots of OPE, which is 10.8% points and 8.6% points than those of KCF. Besides, our method performs favorably against the others in terms of SRE and TRE validation schemes, which shows the superiority of our proposed algorithm in scale and rotation evaluation.

  • In order to correctly understand the Internet fashion shopping mall, which is expected to continuously grow up, and to strengthen marketing activities in cyber space, a more scientific and systematic research is necessary. Most of the early researches of the Internet fashion shopping mall were focused on technical parts so they studied the environmental and physical characteristics of the Internet fashion shopping mall, but recently, the Internet fashion shopping mall is activated and accordingly, the interest in Internet shopping users is going up. Under this circumstance, the research to understand the characteristics of Internet shopping consumers becomes necessary. Therefore, the research was conducted by a survey, focusing on college students who use Internet a lot. The survey covered the experience and the type of using the Internet fashion shopping mall, the extent of satisfaction, strengths, and weaknesses of the Internet fashion shopping mall, the use of a cyber fitting system, and the possibility of the development of the Internet fashion shopping mall having a cyber fitting system. As a result of the study, it was found that: most of the students used the Internet fashion shopping mall; they used a fashion-specialized mall most; they pointed out economy of time as the biggest strength of using the Internet fashion shopping mall; they thought the biggest weakness of the Internet fashion shopping mall is that they can not try on clothes so they can not check whether clothes go well with them or not; and regarding the intention to use a cyber fitting system if available and the possibility of the development of the Internet fashion shopping mall, they replied that they would use it and the malls with the system would be developed. Based on the results, this study proposes a cyber fitting system as an improvement of the Internet fashion shopping mall.

  • In this paper, we are concerned with a 3D line segment extraction method by area-based stereo matching technique. The main idea is based on line fitting of elevation data on 2D line coordinates of ortho-image. Elevation data and ortho-image can be obtained by well-known area-based stereo matching technique. In order to use elevation in line fitting, the elevation itself should be reliable. To measure the reliability of elevation, in this paper, we employ the concept of self-consistency. We test the effectiveness of the proposed method with a quantitative accuracy analysis using synthetic images generated from Avenches data set of Ascona aerial images. Experimental results indicate that our method generates 3D line segments almost 7.5 times more accurate than raw elevations obtained by area-based method.
