Fishery industry is an important part of agricultural industry in coastal countries. The purpose of this study is to use the theory of industrial competitiveness for reference, use Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Delphi method to establish the evaluation index system, and analyze the fishery industry competitiveness of 11 coastal provinces in China. This study data came from China Fishery Statistical Yearbook 2020. The results show that Shandong Province is the most competitive province in fishery industry among the coastal provinces. The inter-provincial differences are great. Not only the resource endowment is the factor that affects the fishery industry competitiveness, but also the long-term profitability is too. The proportion of recreational fishery in the fishery economic output value has become one of the main indicators to measure the competitiveness of the fishery industry. The findings of this study suggest that all regions should adopt measures in accordance with local conditions, promote the integrated development of the fishery industry, enhance the added value of fishery products and enhance the competitiveness of fishery industry. The disadvantage of this study is that the fishery industry competitiveness of China's coastal provinces is only compared and analyzed. The future direction is to carry out a comparative study on the international competitiveness of fishery with other east Asian countries.
It can be said that the fishery industry in ancient China did not originally occupy a very special economic area even when it was started. At that time, the fishery industry was only treated as a means for the livelihood of ordinary people. Over time, the value and economic benefit of aquatic products began to be valued. Its origin can be said to have originated from Yugong(禹貢), which was established by King Yu. These records made it clear that the ancient kings placed great importance on the economic value of seafood and the importance of the fishery industry in the government. Thus, the fishery industry was established as a part of the socio-economic system. In ancient China, the fishery industry was one of the industrial systems that supported traditional Chinese society along with agriculture. It will be possible to analyze the way of thinking of modern Chinese people on the fishery industry through the study of the fishery industry in the traditional era of China. And based on this analysis, I think that it will be able to contribute to a certain extent in establishing a theoretical foundation for countermeasures against the reckless overfishing of fishery resources by Chinese fishermen in the West Sea, which is currently a problem.
As the population grows, the importance of the fishery industry continues to rise. It is therefore vital to support and promote sustainable fishery industry. However, the fishery production has been declining, mainly due to overdevelopment and depletion in fishery resources and stricter limits on development limits caused by growing concerns over the marine environment and ecology. Recently, international activities related to marine environmental and its ecosystems conservation, have been vigorously pursued. The United Nations Convention on The Law of The Sea has stipulated the protection and conservation of the marine environment, and the implementation of fishery resources development, made in harmony with the environment and fishery resources and based upon scientific findings and principles has become important. Accordingly, fishery industry must pay thorough attention to marine ecological and environmental problems and its international fisheries regime. Fisheries development can affect fishery resources, their environment and ecosystems. Adverse ecological effects resulting from fishery resources development practices in general include overdevelopment and incidental development of non target species, physical degradation of seabed habitants and degraduation of water quality. It has now become more important than ever to build up fishery resources development while achieving the conservation of biodiversity and the marine environment, as well as the restoration of destroyed ecosystems. To maintain fishery industry, it is necessary to develop bioeconomic fishery production system and industry policies for the ESSD(environmentally sound and sustainable development) given that maintenance of a favourable marine environment will ensure the fishery resources productivity. These bioeconomic system and policies are necessary to ensure the sustainability and viability of the fishery industry under ESSD fisheries concepts.

All industries must be cope with fast technological progress along with the economic changes experience. However, a fishery and ocean industry are something yet to study base data for HRD and classifying occupation. Therefore, this study points to major problems which related useful data of information on the fishery and ocean industry. The purpose of this study is to classify fishery and ocean occupations by KSCO. The study is carried out though review of the literature, field investigation, direct interview and an experts' meeting of 5 field majors. A proposed classification of fishery and ocean occupations is modified on several times by the meeting of experts' group. Finally, a systematic classification of fishery and ocean occupations is as follows. First of all, first rank change from fishing to fishery industry. And the second rank, fishery and ocean occupations were classified into four categories bases on the systematic and comprehensive, as it were production fisheries, fishery products and processing, fishery supplies and infrastructure, fishery services. Each rank of classifying occupation is from two to four steps based on the occupation cluster.
Today, the Korean fisheries is undergoing significant hardships, both domestically and internationally. While declining amount of catch, ascending international oil prices and others pose a compelling challenge to the fishing sector, the ever strengthening influence of international institutions related to fisheries and international trade organizations also compel to bring about myriad of changes in the realm of fishery products. Against the backdrop, this study attempted to examine the fisheries catch, aquaculture, service, processing fields in terms of its rippling effect and of how the industry has been changed by analyzing the past and present through an input-output analysis. As for research methods, 168 items of the input-output tables in 2000, 2005, 2009, and 2010 were integrated to form and classify 32 sectors (28 basic sectors + catch, aquaculture, fishery service, processed fishery products) so as to generate production inducement coefficient, sensitivity coefficient, and impact coefficient. The analysis results revealed that : though the linkage effect of fishery industry was not very sizable, the impact coefficient of the processed fishery products was high; the consumption and investment coefficient sector among production inducement coefficient was on an upturn trend ; the export coefficient was tended to decline. In the future research, it is necessary to carry out a study based on the integration of detailed classification (404 sector) and a study and analysis of fishery industry by different regions through the inter-regional input-output tables. The fishery industry is one of the crucial industries in Korea. The fishery industry is not only important in its own right but also significant as it exerts influence over other industries. Therefore, it is required that there should be more investment and supports for the development of the fishery industry, and pay efforts to ensure that the investment and development could lead to mutual growth for both the fishery and other various industries.

The purposes of this study are to analyze problems in industrial classification of fisheries in Korea and to suggest future directions. Based on a thorough review of relevant literature, the study proposes a five-level scheme for classifying fisheries. The highest level should be the fisheries industry, and the next highest level ought to be fisheries. The medium level should include fishing, aquaculture, and fishery service industries. At the fourth level, fishing is to be further divided into sea fishery and inland fishery, aquaculture into sea-surface aquaculture and inland aquaculture, and fishery service industries into integrated fishery service and fishery distribution service. The lowest level is the most detailed. At this level, sea fishery is split into deep sea fishery, offshore fishery, and coastal fishery; sea-surface aquaculture consists of sea aquaculture, seed production aquaculture, and food organism aquaculture; integrated fishery service is further classified into fishery-related service and fishery information service.
In this study, we aimed to build the basic calculation model for linkage effects of fishery industry among Korea, China and Japan. For the calculation, we reconstructed the asian international input-output table, and on the basis of the reconstructed table, we made some analyses on the inter-relations among 3 nations focusing fishery industry. As the results, some positive backward linkage offsets of the fishery industries were found among 3 nations, and especially, production inducing effect of Chinese fishery industry to Japanese supplier was remarkable.
This article aims to look into the tendency and problems of employing foreign seamen and to suggest the government's tasks followed and the advisable policies in the fishery industry. In the fishery industry, the increase of employing foreign seamen can be expected ; but so far, a number of emerging problems of it have been seen, and since the government's relevant department has dealt with it in a makeshift way, the structure of employing foreign seamen is not systematic and well-coordinated, and the relevant policies of foreign seamen employee latest prepared are not also enough in settling the existing problems. So study of effective foreign seemen policy is needed. The article, therefore, rearranges the desirable viewpoints of effective employment based on discussing the experiences of employing foreignworkers focused on the manufacturing industry. And in compromise and mediation level, the speciality of fisheries are also taken into account. In consideration of desirable viewpoints and speciality of fishery industry, we focus on proposing the tasks of the foreign seamen employment policies, the advisable tendency, and several relevant pending problems in the fishery industry. And then, the limitations, general discussions of the study and themes to be studied are put forth.
In addition to simply providing quality food to the people, the fishery industry must be maintained and developed because it has various functions such as national food security, preservation of natural scenery, protection of national territory, and revitalization of the local economy. However, risk factors such as climate changes and environmental destruction have raised concerns about the sustainable development of the industry. Since these risk factors are becoming larger and more complex over time, it is time to conduct research related to the risk of the fishery industry. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the risk factors facing the fisheries at this point, to analyze the economic ripple effect of regional fishery product supply shortage, and to draw implications. As a result of this study, the economic ripple effect of fishery product shortage per won was highest in Busan, followed by Gangwon, Gyeongnam, and Gyeongbuk. Considering the size of the local fishery industry, Busan had the highest supply shortage per 1% of local fisheries production. It is also necessary to prepare special risk management and countermeasures for these regions since the effect of supply shortage in regions such as Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, and Jeju is large compared to other regions.
In this paper, fishery economics is reviewed to extend a basic opportunity for developing new fishery economics and to evaluate the effects of the import liberalization on the fish trade structure of Korea. The principle outline of extensions emphasis to realize the modern fishery problems based on fishery economics and develop the practical methodology in order to analyze the impacts of the import liberalization on the fishery and fishermen welfare. During the process of export - oriented industrilization, the role and position of fishery in the economy is changed dynamically. When faced with the imperative of the role and position of fishery in the economy, fishery economists and domestic policy makers must decide how to organize themselves for solving fishery problems under the new regime in the import liberalization on the fish trade. Fishery problems impacted by the new regime can not be solved by fishery itself but be solved by the centralized efforts of all contributors in national views. Therefore the new systematic analytical methodology must be develop and the traditional fishery economics must be related to the regional development strategy and fishery sociology as subsidiary theories specialized. Due to the impacts of the import liberalization on the fish trade structure, fishery economists face with radical changes in the domestic fishery : a place of the resources harvest to place of the combination resource harvest and its demand, a fishing as a resource exploitation to a fishing as a resource management, a traditional small scale costal fishing to a modernized and scaled fishing, fishery using the given natural resource itself to fishery as technology intensive industry, and a food supply industry to a welfare indusry based on the regional and economic resource and social environment. As these changes, fishery and its community's regional and economic resource and social environments as multiple roles of the regional economic development are emphasized in fishery economics under the new regime in the import liberalization on the fish trade. Furthermore, domestic policy makers and administrators in a public sector must realize the above radical changing trends in fishery and understand a social and economic environment in fishery and develop a new fishery structure focusing on the fishing system and the fishery laws. As this point, they make efforts to improve and develop fishery as a food supply industry. Japan, for example, has a non - governmental organization to conflict the problem of international fishery such as a movement of a civil environmental protection. Also fishermen in Japan already realized conservation and pollution problems in fishing as fundamental issues of human being.
