u-Disaster Prevention System based Real-Time Fire Monitoring in a Building Facility (u-방재시스템 기반의 시설물 실시간 화재 모니터링)

  • The building infrastructures such as high-rise buildings, shopping malls, exhibition centers, etc. are becoming larger in magnitude and more complex in complexity. Considering a large number of tenants and visitors are staying in these facilities, it is upper most important to keep those in safe from fire outbreak. In this paper, a u-Disaster Prevention System has been presented to provide effective fire evacuation when fire breaks out in building infrastructures. The ubiquitous sensor network (USN) technology was applied to detect heat and smoke from fire outbreak. The information then is transmitted wirelessly to a host computer. The tenants and visitors residing in the facility can evacuate following the instruction that is displayed in LED sign boards of the u-Disaster Prevention System. A case study shows that the ubiquitous environment can help people evacuate faster in time, shorter in distance with the assistance of the u-Disaster Prevention System.

Development of Hardware and Monitoring Software for Stable Operation of Fire Pumps (소방펌프의 안정적 운영을 위한 하드웨어 및 모니터링 소프트웨어 개발)

  • This study is aimed to develop a safety diagnosis system for fire pumps that detects normal and abnormal signals for the stable operation of the system. Hence, the following activities were carried out: first, a threshold value was identified for the normal operation and six abnormal operations (adherence of impeller, absence of water source, separation of pump and motor, run-stop operation, air inflow into the casing, and reverse-phase loss of the power line) reflecting changes in the current, flow and pressure of fire pumps; secondly, based on the identified signals, an algorithm capable of detecting three abnormal signals was developed and in terms of hardware, a current, pressure and flow sensor suitable for the analogue input values of NI-6009 was designed and installed. This combination of the hardware and software is applicable as a diagnosis system to ensure the stable operation of fire pumps.

  • In correctional facilities with majority of occupants in custody, the safe evacuation guide without getaway accidents should be very important due to complexity in escape paths. Fire causes are various in correctional facilities, for example, arson fire is a major cause in mental treatment facilities, however, old facilities or carelessness of flammable materials consist of fire causes in jail facilities. Both types of correctional facilities are the same in terms of many casualties from the fire cases. The thesis focus on escape paths and evacuation guide plans on the basis of analysis on fire cases and structural vulnerability, and then an electronic unlocking system is concededly installed for safe evacuation of occupants in custody without getaway accidents. Especially, the effect of the electronic unlocking system is going to be analyzed on the basis of RSET (required safe egress time) in order to realize for the occupants to evacuate safely to the front yard in case of emergency. In conclusion, if electronic security allowed system with USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Networks) technology should be installed in multi-storey correctional buildings, it is proposed that the occupants in custody might be a guided safely without getaway trials.

Development of Safe Stove System using Sound Wave Fire Extinguisher (음파 소화기를 이용한 안전 스토브 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, the architecture of a safe stove with an automatic fire suppression function using a sound wave fire extinguisher has been proposed and developed for the first time. A microcontroller connected to a fire sensor detects and suppresses a fire by driving a fire extinguisher. The sound wave fire extinguisher is composed of a speaker and collimator, and is driven by a driver module including an audio amplifier. The attenuation of the sound wave is reduced by preventing the sound diffusion with an enclosure surrounding a stove. The frequency of the sound wave is set to 50 Hz, and the sound pressure of 93 dBA is measured at the distance of 0.5 m. It takes maximum 8 and 15 seconds to suppress the flame from 7-cc and 14-cc flammable liquid, respectively, which corresponds to 24% and 42% of the natural extinguishing time. Since the proposed safe stove is non-toxic and leaves no residues over the conventional ones, it would combine with various home appliances to suppress early-stage fires and prevent fire expansion.

  • It is an emergency which is in the process of existing using of passenger compartment equipment of the rolling stock to sprout and interphone wiring and by the fire sensor which perceives the smoke in the use passenger car ceiling the receiver which is to driver's cabin it leads and the fire occurrence alarm voice sprouts carried on shoulder but, by no. of the car indication ramp it divides the corresponding vehicle and from inside the passenger compartment of the rolling stock from fire occurrence hour driver's cabin corresponding passenger no. of the car. It is accurate and in order it will be able to perceive. It will be able to confront initially quickly with the technique which it composes. It is regarding the fire safety surveillance system it will be able to embody at the expense which is cheap in order to use existing wiring.

  • Many posters and advertisements for fire prevention have long been known to warn of the danger of fire. The reason for this warning is that the damage of the fire is large. In addition, if the second damage occurs, the damage will be larger. In this study, we will design an automatic power circuit breaker that automatically cuts off the power if the temperature sensor is set to a certain temperature value and then goes up above that value. This study will minimize the secondary damage of fire.

  • The advance of wireless telecommunication and observation technologies leads developing sensor and sensor network for serving the context information continuously. Besides, in order to understand and cope with the context awareness based on the sensor network, it is becoming important issue to deal with plentiful data transmitted from various sensors. Therefore, we propose a context awareness system to deal with the plentiful sensor data in a vast area such as the prevention of a forest fire, the warning system for detecting environmental pollution, and the analysis of the traffic information, etc. The proposed system consists of the context acquisition to collect and store various sensor data, the knowledge base to keep context information and context log, the rule manager to process context information depending on user defined rules, and the situation information manager to analysis and recognize the context, etc. The proposed system is implemented for managing renewable energy data management transmitted from a large scale area.

  • When big fire in high rise building and multiplex happens, the needs for high prevention system of disaster are being increased for getting the real-time scene state, quick lifesaver, and safe life security. In this paper the proposed evacuation guidance algorithm which analyzed the feature and danger of fire in high rise buildings, gave simplicity and scalability. Our research shows as fire and disaster occur in high rise buildings we construct sensor networks and sense realtime location information on fire alive people, and the situation information for fire instructed quick and safe escaping route by using mesh routing algorithm scheme relative to exit sign.

  • USN Fire Prevention System is an intelligent system that detects the fire through the value which has got from a sensor such as temperature, humidity, intensity of illumination, acceleration, carbon dioxide(CO2) and so on. And then send it to the operator also use the algorithmic fire detection to operate fire extinguish system on. It is among U-Disaster Prevention System which has prevented fire lately. Configuration of the packet was designed to make the most of lightweight and fast processing for low power consumption. Recently listed in the encryption algorithm is applied each DES, 3DES, AES and HIGHT. So objective was to faster encryption than encryption of high-performance finally domestic standard encryption algorithm HIGHT were suitable for the fire prevention system needed frequent sensing time.

  • This paper proposes a fire detection algorithm using low-cost camera to detect visual features of fire. In the previous work sensor cameras were used, but here we use very simple cameras. This method uses YCbCr and YIQ color model to detect candidate regions of fire. The candidate areas are extracted from the boundaries of the fire. noise removal elimination is performed. Regardless of environmental changes around the fire area, the results of the proposed algorithm are very satisfactory.
