  • Recently, For the most efficient use of spaceis, high-rise buildings tend to increase. So it is with Korea, too. Besides, today high-rise buildings grows due to fire damage to life and property at large. In this study, Through analysis of domestic and foreign fire case and listen to the high-rise building fire managers, tenants, professionals advice, when the fire from the high-rise building, effective fire suppression tactics should we wish to research ways. In addition, we have used the car gondola was installed outside the fire suppression methods in studying. So that fire-fighting is a fire place can be reached quickly, many casualties and property damage, will be reduced.

  • To minimize and prevent the increasing fire and personal injury, the domestic firefighting organizations are making continuous efforts to strengthen the response system and safety standards. "Fire Reduction Program" has been prepared to reduce the outbreak of fire up to 20% in the next 10 years, and the analysis of fire sources should be done and its countermeasures also should be done accordingly. Therefore, the management status, the improvement tasks, and the limitations of the implementation plan are reviewed and studied so that the implementation and goal of the "Fire Reduction Policy" can be achieved.

  • The purpose of this study is to set up disaster prevention plan and risk assessment system considering combustion velocity at traditional housing zone. The combustion velocity analysis could contribute to build in disaster prevention technique through the potential risk analysis of the area, such analysis also able to set up comprehensive disaster prevention management system. Following results have achieved through the combustion velocity calculation. \circled1 The combustion velocity was calculated in order of the below winds, the above winds and the side winds. \circled2 It must be careful to set up disaster prevention plan in case of the below winds. \circled3 The combustion velocity was calculated at the density Bone where neighboring Distance and Length was small. \circled4 It proved that factors of each parameter not mostly effect to analyse the combustion velocity in limit of the 30 minutes after ignition. \circled5 At the density zone where Distance and Length is small the duration of transfer to neighboring house takes up to 4 minutes, it is required to set up of emergency response plan to minimize the fire dispersion.

  • In this study, the independent variables are the floor plan configulation. The dependent variables are the occupant's egress behavior, especially spatial movement pattern, and life - safety performance of building. Fire events were simulated on single story of office building. Simulation run for allowable secaping thime(180 seconds) arbitrarily selected, and involved 48 occupants. The major findings Pre as follows. 1) Computer simulation model suggested in this study can be used as the Preoccupancy evaluation method of the life-safety performance for architectural design based on prediction of occupants' egress behavior in the levels of validity and sensitivity, 2) Sucess or failure in occupants' escape is determined by decreasing walking speed caused by jamming at exits or over crowded corridor, and increasing route length caused by running about in confusion at each subdivision and corridor. 3) In floor plan configuration which safe areas located at the extreme ends of the corridor, cellular floor planning have to be avoided preventing jamming and running about in confusion at overcrowded corridor.

  • Due to its commercial, ceremonial function, the hotel design has a tendency to be higher and larger, and its form being varied. But this tendency is not desirable in respect of architectural fire-safety. The higher its height and the larger its mass becomes, relatively the damage expectation becomes. Moreover, in case of fire, it is expected that many serious problems break out, because the users of a hotel, unlike those of office building or housing, are majority of unspecified people and they have no information about that building. Therefore, this study dealt with fire-safety problem in hotel design and tried to find out countermeasures of fire-safety and successful escafe against fire.

  • Objectives: The aims of this study are to derive the characteristics of diesel exhaust gas emissions generated during vehicle checking in the garage of fire stations and of the related improvement plans for proper air quality management. Methods: The researcher measured changes in the air quality inside garages according to the operating conditions of the exhaust facility and before and after vehicle checking at three fire stations. Results: During the checking of fire engines, a large volume of hazardous substances exceeding management standards were generated, and improvement of the discharge facilities was required for proper air quality management. Conclusions: It is necessary to study the hazard evaluation of firefighters' exposure to exhaust gas, to operate exhaust gas ventilation facilities, and to prepare technical standards for proper indoor air quality management.

  • Much activity is occurring throughout the world with respect to the implementation of new concepts and technology for fire detection and fire suppression applications. Obvious advances include tangible detection and suppression improvements, and also new methods and approaches such as performance based codes and standards. Examples of tangible advances include addressable detection systems, wireless detection technology, halon alternatives, water mist systems, advanced sprinkler technology, and so on. Examples of new approaches and methods include a revitalized focus on disaster planning and the need for a total fire protection plan. The concept of performance based codes and standards for the design and installation fire detection and suppression systems will be explored in detail.

  • This study indicates direction on establishment of the operational plan for disaster mitigation and its implementation for maintaining business continuity of the local company of the first step, and seeks plans for maintaining their continuity through the establishment of early counter system constructed for achieving lasting safe at the any disaster. For achieving it, we investigated the standard of disaster management selected by the government called "Incident Preparedness and Operational Continuity Plan" Guideline, and investigated a guideline to be easily applied to domestic companies. And, we also studied on how to build the operational plan of disaster mitigation and apply IT techniques to A corporation. Especially, this study indicates the models of establishment of risk assessment, impact analysis, prevention and mitigation plan, response management plan for the establishment of plan among 5 main steps on "Incident Preparedness and Operational Continuity Management" Guideline. We devised the plan to activate the disaster mitigation activity throughout the country. It shows the skills to be prepared to upgrade the level of disaster response in this study.
