  • Existing verification research for how effectively the educational training of new fire officers has been applied to actual fieldwork is extremely insignificant. This is because only a few studies have empirically verified job implementation according to job satisfaction, which is believed to have a great influence on various aspects such as learner traits, educational programs, and learning outcomes. Moreover, it is necessary to conduct an empirical investigation regarding the effects of learner traits, educational programs, and learning outcomes on disaster scenes and the job implementation of fire administration on new fire officers. This study aims to provide an empirical analysis of the effects of educational training of new fire officers on job implementation. It has been identified that learner traits and learning outcomes have an effect on job satisfaction. Accordingly, job satisfaction, educational programs, learning outcomes, and learner traits have a significant effect (P < 0.05) on job implementation.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide an operational model of the rehabilitation room for fire officers at disaster sites to improve the safety and resilience of fire officers. Therefore, we analyzed the operation related elements of the rehabilitation room-such as overseas rehabilitation room operation cases and previous studies- and managed different factors including, but not limited to, management and human resources, equipment and facility, and accessibility and convenience factors; afterward, the relative importance and importance of sub-layers in each field were measured. The priority of items for the operation of the rehabilitation room for fire officers at disaster sites was elucidated; after expert analysis, it was found that human resources were the most crucial factor. Finally, it was found that, in descending order, accessibility and convenience, administrative, equipment, and facility factors were also essential. Based on this, we proposed a rehabilitation room operation guideline for disaster sites.

The participants of this study were 151 Jeju Island local fire fighting officers. The research tools used were job stress scale, career resilience scale and job efficacy scale. The data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical program. Pearson's correlation analysis, hierarchical multiple regression analysis and the Sobel test were conducted. The results of this study are as follows: First, there was a significant negative correlation between the job stress and the career resilience and between the job stress and the job efficacy, while there was a significant positive correlation between the job efficacy and the career resilience. Second, the job efficacy of fire fighting officers was found to have a perfect mediation effect on the job stress and the career resilience. As a result, it was found that job efficiency as a mediator to cope with job stress can improve the work efficiency by improving the career resilience of fire fighting officers. Finally, the discussion and implication are provided based on the results.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of social support provided for fire officers on their job satisfaction and burnout. The subjects in this study were 251 male and female fire officers in the 119 fire centers located in Gangwon, Gyeonggi Province and Seoul. A survey was conducted from April 15 to May 12, 2013. As for data analysis, frequency analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were made, and the level of statistical significance was all set at p<.05. The findings of the study were as follows: The social support provided for the fire officers had a significant correlation with their job satisfaction and burnout. The factors that affected their job satisfaction were social support from supervisors(${\beta}=-.469$) and social support from colleagues(${\beta}=.934$), which were the subfactors of social support. The factors that exercised an influence on burnout were social support from supervisors(${\beta}=-2.081$) and social support from colleagues(${\beta}=3.117$) as well, which were the subfactors of social support. The overall explain ability percentage of the two variables respectively stood at 31.1 and 21.1 percent. Given the findings of the study, it's required to grasp influential factors for the job satisfaction and burnout of fire officers in more detail, and the development of programs geared toward boosting their job satisfaction is necessary.

  • The frequency of official injury of fire-fighting officers exposed to an extreme situation in disaster areas has been continuously increased. In spite of increase of injury, procedures of injury approval are complex, so the working environment of fire-fighting officers is very poor in terms of safety management. This study was, therefore, conducted to provide basic data for improvement of the injury management system for fire-fighting officers, by empirically analyzing the system for those in Busan city. The findings of the empirical analysis are as follows: first, the frequency of injury experienced by them is higher than that of other occupations; second, application for injury is not actively made; third, fire-fighting officers should bear the expense if injury is approved. On the basis of such an analysis on actual conditions, an analysis on policy factors for improving the injury management system shows; first, various high-risk matters should be considered in the review of application for injury, for improvement factors of the application for injury, while it is necessary to extend the benefit and support project for injured officers, for operation improvement factors of the injury management system, and the compensation act should be improved, for the improvement factors of the injury system. Second, it is urgent to develop damage prevention and coping education program for improving the injury management system. In addition, the simplification of administrative procedures of application for injury and the extension of benefit and support project for injured officers should be realized as soon as possible, moreover, the enhancement of directors' interest and support is also required.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand in depth the experiences regarding the healing of stress that takes place in the process of the job performance of fire fighting officers. For this, by having seven incumbent fire fighting officers as the subjects of the research, the individual in-depth interviews had been conducted. As a result of analyzing their experiences based on the phenomenological research method of Colaizzi, the 17 topic bundles, 5 subcategories, and 3 categories were derived. Regarding the results of the research, firstly, it appeared that the stress resulting from the job performance in the diverse processes of solving the petitions experienced as the obsessive anxiety, feeling of depression and sleep disorder, etc. Secondly, it had appeared that fire fighting officers show the strong feeling of pride and sense of calling regarding the job performance, but their dread regarding the life after the retirement was high. Thirdly, it appeared that such stress were offset and healed through the positive experiences, including the professional vocation, companionship and support by the family, etc. Because the high job stress gets developed into the continuous and complex physical problems and the emotional and psychological problems, it shows that there is a limitation to the healing with only the professional calling, companionship and support by the family. As such, for the healing of stress that takes place in the job performance by fire fighting officers and not just for the environmental improvements that are related with the job, but for the psychological and emotional support, this research arrived at the point of the suggestion that the operations of the complex and systematized supporting programs, including the strengthening of vocation and companionship, emotional support by the family etc., must be carried out.

  • Recently keeping pace with globalization, many international conferences and athletic games are being held in Korea. After 911 terror in New York in 2001, Korean government dispatched Zaytun Division in Iraq and this fact has also led to voice concerns that Korea should be prepared to protect from terrors of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive(CBRNE) emergency as soon as possible. It is important to develop the CBRNE emergency medical training for fire officers in Korea. So I propose the curriculum.

  • A study on how fire officer's job satisfaction factors influence space satisfaction rates. This article will conduct regression analysis for the study on these three problems. 'What are the factors of fire officer's job satisfaction?', 'Does space satisfaction rates influence job satisfaction rates?', 'Which job satisfaction factor influence space satisfaction rate?' Therefore, variables were set based on the prior study, and before regression analysis was conducted, variables were purified through analysis on primary factor and reliability analysis, and hypothesis test was done via variable calculation. According to the prior study, factors that influence job satisfaction rates are as following; self-regulation of tasks, ethics and responsibility level, relationship with colleagues, job identity. And regression analysis showed that space satisfaction rates do not influence job satisfaction rates. The writer thinks that it's showing that Korean fire officers tend to prioritize colleague relationship and job identity over space improvements. And the factor that influence job satisfaction rates turned out to be the self-regulation of tasks, and the writer estimates that it's reflecting the hierarchical organization culture of current Korean fire officers. Therefore, future Korean fire station design plans need to consider a space plan that provides fire officer's private self-regulation of tasks.
