  • To analyze the ocean wave more efficiently, more fine grids are used with relatively less computer memory. Each element of free surface is discretized into more fine grids because the ocean waves are much influenced by the mesh used in the finite difference scheme. According to the flow analysis, remarkable improvements could be seen in the free surface generation. The multi grid is applied to confirm the validity of scheme. The Baldwin Lomax turbulence model is used for the analysis of S103 Inuid ship. Finally some discussion on experiments was made for the physical phenomena of the viscous

  • Space domain image coding with VQ [9, 10, 11] has been very effective at low rates. To achieve quality at lower rates, it is necessary to exploit spaial redundancy over a larger region of pixels than is possible with general VQ. This paper presents a interframe coding algorithm which is capable of obtaining better performance and lower bi t rate than those of the general interframe coding. The performance is evaluated on the basis of SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio), memory requirements and bit rate.

  • We have developed the three dimensional mesh generator for three dimensional process simulation using the FEM(Finite Element Method). Tetrahedron element construct the presented three dimensional mesh, which is suitable for the simulation of three dimensional behavior of the LOCOS. The simulation of thermal oxidation is one of the problem in scale downed semiconductor processes. As three dimensional simulators use the huge size of the memory, we use the efficient method that generates the new nodes inside the growing oxide and removes the nodes nearby the SiO2/Si interface in silicon. The resented three dimensional mesh generator was designed to be used in various process simulations, for instance thermal oxidation, silicidation, nitridation, ion implantation, diffusion, and so on.

  • We propose in this article a procedure for testing unit and fractional orders of integration, with the roots simultaneously occurring in the trend, the seasonal and the cyclical component of the time series. The tests have standard null and local limit distributions. However, finite sample critical values are computed, and several Monte Carlo experiments conducted across the paper show that the rejection frequencies against unit (and fractional) orders of integration are relatively high in all cases. The tests are applied to the UK consumption and income series, the results showing the importance of the roots corresponding to the trend and the seasonal components and, though the unit roots are found to be fairly suitable models, we show that fractional processes (including one for the cyclical component) may also be plausible alternatives in some cases.

  • This paper introduces a novel parallel shift operator finite-difference time-domain (SO-FDTD) method for plasma in the dispersive media. We calculate the interaction between the electromagnetic wave of various frequencies and non-magnetized plasma by using the parallel SO-FDTD method. Then, we compare the results, which are calculated with serial and parallel SO-FDTD executions to obtain the speedup ratio and validate the parallel execution. We conclude that the parallel SO method has almost the same precision as the serial SO method, while the parallel approach expands the scope of memory and reduces the CPU time.

  • In this paper, the thermomechanical responses of shape memory alloy (SMA) actuators and their applications as the shape adaptive structures combining SMA actuators produced in the form of strip with composite structures are investigated. The numerical algorithm of the 3-D SMA thermomechanical constitutive equations based on Lagoudas model is implemented to analyze the unique characteristics of SMA strip. Also, the incremental SMA constitutive equations are implemented in the user subroutine UMAT by using ABAQUS finite element program. The shape change of structure is caused by initially strained SMA strip bonded on the surface of the composite structure when thermally activated. Numerical results show that SMA strip actuator can generate enough recovery force to deform the composite structure and sustain the deformed shape subjected to large external load, simultaneously.

  • Stress analysis of axi-symetric body with non-symetric loading and non-symetric given displacements is investigated in this paper using the finite element method. As the non-symetric load and non-symetric given displacements of axi-symetric body are generally periodic functions of angle .theta., the nodal forces and nodal displacements can be expanded in cosine and sine series, that is, Fourier series. Furthermore, using Euler's formula, the cosine and sine series can be converted into exponential series and it is prooved that the related calculus become more clear. Substituting the nodal displacements expanded in Fourier series into the strain components of cylindrical coordinates system, the element strains are expressed in series form and by the principal of virtual work, the element stiffness martix and element load vector are obtained for each order. It is also showed that if the non-symetric loads are even or odd functions of angle ${\theta}$ the stiffness matrix and load vector of the system are composed with only real numbers and relatively small capacity fo computer memory is enough for calculation.

  • The problem of identification of continuous systems is considered when both the discrete input and output measurements are contaminated by white noises. Using a predesigned digital low-pass filter, a discrete-time estimation model is constructed easily without direct approximations of system signal derivatives from sampled data. If the pass-band of the filter is designed so that it includes the main frequencies of both the system input and output signals in some range, the noise effects are sufficiently reduced, accurate estimates can be obtained by least squares(LS) algorithm in the presence of low measurement noises. Two classes of filters(infinite impulse response(IIR) filter and finite impulse response(FIR) filter) are employed. The former requires less computational burden and memory than the latter while the latter is suitable for the bias compensated least squares(BCLS) method, which compensates the bias of the LS estimate by the estimates of the input-output noise variances and thus yields unbiased estimates in the presence of high noises.

  • 3-dimensional finite element mehtod (FEM) elecrical field analysis was performed to obtain electric fields on a field emission display (FED) tip in an array form. Because, unlike a single tip structure, there is no azimuthal symmetry for a tip aary, 3D analysis is necessary. To reduce memory requriement the simulatio was performed by applying the neumann boundary condition to the intermediate plane between tips to take the effect of the array on the electric field into account and corresponding current was calculated. To verify our algorithm, comparison between simulation resutls and experimental data from another paper was made and the difference was discussed.

  • An improved nonparametric tool description based on successive refined monparametric patches is proposed and therlated criterion for refinement is also discussed . In the proposed sheme, any required order of tool surface conformity can be achieved by employing successive refinements accoring to the suggested criterion. By using the suggested adaptive tool refinement technique based on the nonparametric patch tool description, the locally refined nonparametric tool surface with economic memory size and sufficient accuracy as well as with favorable charateristics for contact treatment can be obtained directly form the parametric patch related with commerical CAD system. Computation is carried out for a chosen complex sheet forming example of an actual autobody panel in order to verify the validity and the efficiency of the developed tool surface description.
