  • In this paper, an underwater acoustic digital transceiver is designed and implemented by a multiple DSPs system. We have designed a QPSK transmitter based on look-up table and 13-symbols Barker code is used for frame synchronization. Channel distortions are compensated by a wide-band beamformer based on FIR filter and an adaptive equalize. with RLS algorithm. Uniform linear array (ULA) with four elements is used for the spartial signal processing. 1/2 convolutional code and Viterbi decoder are implemented to overcome time-varying multi-path fading. Also, we show experimental results in the underwater anechoic basin at KRISO/KORDl and Goseong, Donghae and Soyang lake of Kangwon-do.

A Shared Channel Design for the Power and Signal Transfers of Electric-field Coupled Power Transfer Systems

  • Electric-field coupled power transfer (ECPT) systems have been proposed as an alternative wireless power transfer (WPT) technology in recent years. With the use of capacitive plates as a coupling structure, ECPT systems have many advantages such as design flexibility, reduced volume of the coupling structure and metal penetration ability. In addition, wireless communications are effective solutions to improve the safety and controllability of ECPT systems. This paper proposes a power and signal shared channel for electric-field coupled power transfer systems. The shared channel includes two similar electrical circuits with a band pass filter and a signal detection resistor in each. This is designed based on the traditional current-fed push-pull topology. An analysis of the mutual interference between the power and signal transmission, the channel power and signal attenuations, and the dynamic characteristic of the signal channel are conducted to determine the values for the electrical components of the proposed shared channel. Experimental results show that the designed channel can transfer over 100W of output power and data with a data rate from 300bps to 120 kbps.

A Study on the Derivation of isoflux Radiation Characteristics of Planar Array Antenna for CubeSAT (큐브위성용 평면배열안테나의 isoflux 방사특성 유도에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we studied the derivation method of isoflux radiation for a planar array antenna. The presented array antenna was designed for considering of 1U-sized CubeSAT with Ku-band communications. For the presented array antenna, 8×8 radiating elements were arranged, and the distance between radiating elements was set of half-wavelength. The excited current weighting for each radiating elements was calculated by the signal processing technique used in the design of the low-pass filter. As a result of analysis of the method proposed in this paper, it was confirmed that a seamless isoflux pattern can be derived.

Digital Image Watermarking Schemes Based on GCST and SVD (GCST-SVD 기반 디지털 영상 워터마킹 방법)

  • In this paper, Gabor cosine and sine transform considered as human visual filter is applied to watermarking methods for digital images. Four algorithms by using singular values or principal components of SVD in the frequency domain are proposed for watermark embedding and extraction. Two dimensional image is used as an embedded watermark. To measure the similarity between the embedded watermark image and the extracted one, a normalized correlation value is computed for the comparison of the four proposed methods with various attacks. Extracted watermark images are also provided for visual inspection. The proposed GCST-SVD method which embeds a watermark image into the lowest vertical or horizontal ac frequency band can provide useful watermarking algorithm with high correlation values and visual watermark features from experimental results for various attacks.

  • In recent years, high efficiency, high performance, and low pollutant emmision engines have been developed. Knock phenomenon has drawn interests because it became an hinderance to engine power and efficiency increase through higher compression ratio. Knock phenomenon is an abnormal combustion originated from autoignition of unburned gas in the end-gas region during the later stage of combustion process and accompanied a high pitched metallic noise. And this phenomenon is characterized by knock occurrence percentage, knock occurrence angle and knock intensity. A four cylinder spark ignition engine is used in our experiment, and its combustion chamber pressure is measured at various engine speeds, ignition timing. The data are analyzed by numerous methods in order to select the optimum methods and to achieve better understanding of knock characteristics. Methods using band-pass filter, third derivative and step method are shown to be the most suitable, while methods using frequency analysis are shown to be unsuitable. Because step method only uses signals above threshold value during knocking condition, pressure signal analyses with this method show good signal-to-noise ratio.

  • This study was intended to examine feasibility of sizing and color grading of Fuji apple with black/white image processing system, to develop a device with which the whole surface of an apple could be captured by one camera, and to develop an algorithm for a high speed sorting. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The black/white image processing system used in this study showed a maximum error of 1.3% in area measurement with a reference figure while the focusing point of camera and location of the reference figure were changed within a certain range. 2. As the result of evaluating four automatic image segmentation algorithms with apple images, Histogram Clustering Method was the best in terms of computation time and accuracy. 3. The fast algorithm for analyzing size and coloration of apple was developed. 4. The whole surface of an apple could be captured in an image frame with two mirrors installed on the both sides of the sample. The total area of the image representing the whole surface showed a correlation of 0.995 with the weight of apple. 5. The gray level when a particular band pass filter was mounted on the camera showed high correlation with 'L' and 'a' values of Hunt color scale and could represent the coloration of apple.

  • In this thesis, a high speed code synchronization circuit is implemented, which is applicable to frequency hopping FSK tranceiver within 68-88 MIBz band- width. synchronization Process consists of two steps, initial synchronization and tracking. A modified matched filter method using two channel passive correlators matched with short hopping frequencies, synchronization prcfix. is proposed for initial synchronization. To increase probability of initial synchronization, prefix are transmitted repeatedly. The outputs of correlators are sent to synchronization decision circuit, and code start time Is extracted by synchronizatlon decision circuit-Modified matched fitter method makes it possible to reduce complexity in hardware and obtain code acquisition rapidly.Clock recovery circuit regenerates PN code clock for tracking.

  • 본 논문에서는 High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC)을 하드웨어로 구현하기 위해서 파이프라인 방식을 인-루프 필터에 새롭게 도입된 기술인 Sample Adaptive Offset (SAO)에 적용하여 병렬화 처리하는 방법을 제안한다. 현재 HEVC 에서 SAO 의 입출력이 프레임단위로 구현되어 있는데, 이를 파이프라인 방식의 하드웨어 설계시에는 Largest Coding Unit(LCU)단위로 입출력이 가능하도록 수정해야 한다. SAO 에서 사용하는 두 가지 방식으로 Edge Offset(EO)과 Band Offset(BO)모드가 있으며, 이 중 EO 모드가 주변 화소값을 이용하므로 주변 화소값 정보가 없는 LCU 경계에 위치한 화소들을 버퍼에 저장한 뒤, 다음 LCU 블록의 입력과 함께 SAO 를 수행한다. 또한, SAO 앞 단의 인-루프 필터 기술인 디블록킹 필터(Deblocking Filter)에서도 LCU 단위로 입출력이 수행되므로 디블록킹 필터에서 저장하는 버퍼를 고려하면, SAO 입력에서 사용가능한 데이터는 LCU 가 천이된 형태가 된다. 따라서 SAO 입력의 천이된 형태와 버퍼 사용에 따라 총 9 가지 타입을 갖게 되며, 이 중 경계에 위치한 블록을 제외한 타입들의 경우 서로 다른 정보를 가진 SAO 를 4 번 수행해야 한다. 이러한 점을 반영한 파이프라인 방식을 SAO 에 적용하여 하드웨어에 적합한 구조를 구현할 수 있다.

  • A 12GHz low-noise amplifier, a single gate GaAs MESFET mixer, and a low-pass filter have been fabricated for DBS receiver applications by using MIC technology. Each subsystem contains DC block with symmetric line and ship capacitor, respectively. The frequency converter with chip capacitor exhibits a 20-23 dB conversin gain with a RF bandwidth of 11.581-11.981 GHz and an IF bandwidth of 581-981MHz. Rf bandwidth of 12.1GHz and an IF banewidth of 1GHz.

  • In the grand alliance (GA) HDTV receiver, a coherent detection is empolyed for coherent demodulation of vestigial side-band (VSB) signal by using frequency and phaselocked loop(FPLL) operating on the pilot carrier. Additional phase tracking loop (PTL) employed to track out phase noise that has not been removed by the FPLL in theGA system. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for phase detection which utilizes a weighting function. The simplest implementation of the proposed algorithm using te sign of the Q channel component can be tractable by imposing a phase detection gain to the loop gain. It is obserbed that the propsoed algorithm has a robust characteristic against the performance of the digital filters used for Q channel estimation. A second goal of this paper is to introduce a gain control algorithm for the PTL in order to provide an effective implementation of the proposed phase detection algorithm. And we design the PTL through the realization of the simplified digital filter for H/W reduction. The proposed algorithms and the designed PTL are evaluated by computer simulation. In spite of using the simplified H/W structure, simulation results show that the proposed algorithms outperform the coventional PTL algorithms in the phase detection and tracking performance.
