  • We simulated the fault reactivation experiment conducted at 'Main Fault' intersecting the low permeability clay formations of Mont Terri Underground Research Laboratory in Switzerland using TOUGH-FLAC simulator. The fluid flow along a fault was modelled with solid elements and governed by Darcy's law with the cubic law in TOUGH2, whereas the mechanical behavior of a single fault was represented by creating interface elements between two separating rock blocks in FLAC3D. We formulate the hydro-mechanical coupling relation of hydraulic aperture to consider the elastic fracture opening and failure-induced dilation for reproducing the abrupt changes in injection flow rate and monitoring pressure at fracture opening pressure. A parametric study was conducted to examine the effects of in-situ stress condition and fault deformation and strength parameters and to find the optimal parameter set to reproduce the field observations. In the best matching simulation, the fracture opening pressure and variations of injection flow rate and monitoring pressure showed good agreement with field experiment results, which suggests the capability of the numerical model to reasonably capture the fracture opening and propagation process. The model overestimated the fault displacement in shear direction and the range of reactivated zone, which was attributed to the progressive shear failures along the fault at high injection pressure. In the field experiment results, however, fracture tensile opening seems the dominant mechanism affecting the hydraulic aperture increase.

  • At one time, the anomaly detection sector dominated the method of determining whether there was an abnormality based on the statistics derived from specific data. This methodology was possible because the dimension of the data was simple in the past, so the classical statistical method could work effectively. However, as the characteristics of data have changed complexly in the era of big data, it has become more difficult to accurately analyze and predict the data that occurs throughout the industry in the conventional way. Therefore, SVM and Decision Tree based supervised learning algorithms were used. However, there is peculiarity that supervised learning based model can only accurately predict the test data, when the number of classes is equal to the number of normal classes and most of the data generated in the industry has unbalanced data class. Therefore, the predicted results are not always valid when supervised learning model is applied. In order to overcome these drawbacks, many studies now use the unsupervised learning-based model that is not influenced by class distribution, such as autoencoder or generative adversarial networks. In this paper, we propose a method to detect anomalies using generative adversarial networks. AnoGAN, introduced in the study of Thomas et al (2017), is a classification model that performs abnormal detection of medical images. It was composed of a Convolution Neural Net and was used in the field of detection. On the other hand, sequencing data abnormality detection using generative adversarial network is a lack of research papers compared to image data. Of course, in Li et al (2018), a study by Li et al (LSTM), a type of recurrent neural network, has proposed a model to classify the abnormities of numerical sequence data, but it has not been used for categorical sequence data, as well as feature matching method applied by salans et al.(2016). So it suggests that there are a number of studies to be tried on in the ideal classification of sequence data through a generative adversarial Network. In order to learn the sequence data, the structure of the generative adversarial networks is composed of LSTM, and the 2 stacked-LSTM of the generator is composed of 32-dim hidden unit layers and 64-dim hidden unit layers. The LSTM of the discriminator consists of 64-dim hidden unit layer were used. In the process of deriving abnormal scores from existing paper of Anomaly Detection for Sequence data, entropy values of probability of actual data are used in the process of deriving abnormal scores. but in this paper, as mentioned earlier, abnormal scores have been derived by using feature matching techniques. In addition, the process of optimizing latent variables was designed with LSTM to improve model performance. The modified form of generative adversarial model was more accurate in all experiments than the autoencoder in terms of precision and was approximately 7% higher in accuracy. In terms of Robustness, Generative adversarial networks also performed better than autoencoder. Because generative adversarial networks can learn data distribution from real categorical sequence data, Unaffected by a single normal data. But autoencoder is not. Result of Robustness test showed that he accuracy of the autocoder was 92%, the accuracy of the hostile neural network was 96%, and in terms of sensitivity, the autocoder was 40% and the hostile neural network was 51%. In this paper, experiments have also been conducted to show how much performance changes due to differences in the optimization structure of potential variables. As a result, the level of 1% was improved in terms of sensitivity. These results suggest that it presented a new perspective on optimizing latent variable that were relatively insignificant.

  • In this paper, an accurate remote gaze tracking method with two cameras is presented using a modified Starburst algorithm and honography normalization. Starburst algorithm, which was originally developed for head-mounted systems, often fails in detecting accurate pupil centers in remote tracking systems with a larger field of view due to lots of noises. A region of interest area for pupil is found using template matching, and then only within this area Starburst algorithm is applied to yield pupil boundary candidate points. These are used in improved RANSAC ellipse fitting to produce the pupil center. For gaze estimation robust to head movement, an improved homography normalization using four LEDs and calibration based on high order polynomials is proposed. Finally, it is shown that accuracy and robustness of the system is improved using two cameras rather than one camera.

  • In this paper, H-polarized electromagnetic scattering problems by a conductive strip grating between a grounded double dielectric layer are analyzed by applying the FGMM(Fourier-Galerkin Moment Method) known as a numerical method of electromagnetic fileld. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients, and the conductive boundary condition is applied to analysis of the conductive strip. The numerical results for normalized reflected power are analyzed by according as the width and spacing of conductive strip, the relative permittivity and thickness of the grounded double dielectric layers, and incident angles. Generally, as the value of the dielectric constant and dielectric thickness of a grounded double dielectric layer increases, the reflected power increased. And as dielectric thickness of a grounded double dielectric layer increases, the current density induced in the strip center increases. The numerical results for the presented structure of this paper are shown in good agreement compared to those of the existing papers using the PMM(Point Matching Method).

  • This study aims to discover historical trends and change of form of all stupas in India with observation of field study that is as direct as possible, by classifying, analyzing, and synthesizing the stupas. Study of Indian stupa in Korea has a number of shortcomings since only introductory partial approach has been made in order to seek the origin of Korean pagoda. This study also aims to correct errors of stupa terminology in Chinese character committed by misinterpretation of Hindi language which was established by precedent Japanese scholars several decades ago. Piled-up stupas were totally destroyed by pagans, therefore their remains tell us only of structure, material, sizeand disposition. However remains of carved stone at torana and drum give us clues as to the original form of stupa and worshipping activity, as well as change to a more luxurious form. Many rock cave stupas of India show us both simple forms matching the ascetic age of early Buddhism and luxurious changes in Mahayanan era introducing us to statues of Buddha. Indians recovered the spheric form of 'anda,' a Hindi term meaning cosmic egg, from the hemispheric form of the piled-up stupa. Therefore we might discard the erratic term of 'bokbal', which means an upset vessel. Railings and parasols became main factors of stupa design. Carved railings around stupa became a sign of divinity. Serious worshipping activity made drums long or high and created multi-embossed stripes. Bases of circular drums of some cave stupas changed their shapes to rectangular or octagonal. Single parasols became multiparasols of affluent flowerlike curved stems on carved stupa. Multistoried, elongated and high parasols of Gandhara stupas are closely related to such factors as diverse changes of form in Indian subcontinent. Four-sided torana gate and ayaka column of the circular form of original stupas suggest the rectangular form of subsequent East Asian pagoda, and higher and wider base of Indian stupas became the origin of East Asian rectangular pagoda.

  • In this paper, we primarily address the difficulty of automatic generation of a plausible depth map from a single image in an unstructured environment. The aim is to extrapolate a depth map with a more correct, rich, and distinct depth order, which is both quantitatively accurate as well as visually pleasing. Our technique, which is fundamentally based on a preexisting DepthTransfer algorithm, transfers depth information at the level of superpixels. This occurs within a framework that replaces a pixel basis with one of instance-based learning. A vital superpixels feature enhancing matching precision is posterior incorporation of predictive semantic labels into the depth extraction procedure. Finally, a modified Cross Bilateral Filter is leveraged to augment the final depth field. For training and evaluation, experiments were conducted using the Make3D Range Image Dataset and vividly demonstrate that this depth estimation method outperforms state-of-the-art methods for the correlation coefficient metric, mean log10 error and root mean squared error, and achieves comparable performance for the average relative error metric in both efficacy and computational efficiency. This approach can be utilized to automatically convert 2D images into stereo for 3D visualization, producing anaglyph images that are visually superior in realism and simultaneously more immersive.

  • The conventional block-based motion prediction suffers, especially in low bit-rate video application, from shortcomings such as blocking artifacts of motion field and unstable motion estimation. To overcome the deficiency, this paper proposes one method of adopting a new motion compensation scheme based on the irregular triangular mesh structure while keeping the current block-based DCT coding structure of H.263 as much as possible. To represent the reconstructed previous frame using minimal number of control points, the proposed method designs content-adaptive irregular triangular meshes, and then, estimate the motion vector of each control point using the affine transformation-based matching. The predicted current frame is obtained by applying the affine transformation to each triangular mesh. Experiment with the several real video sequences shows improvement both in objective and subjective picture quality over the conventional block-based H.263 method.

  • In this paper we proposed the tag antenna with a low performance distortion from an attached surface material using the asymmetric dual-arm dipole antenna(ADDA) structure. The tag is designed to exhibit low performance changes when the tag is attached on a target object(the medical litter receptacle, ${\varepsilon}_r=1.7,\;tan\;{\delta}=0.002$). Detail design parameters for the proposed antenna are optimized to maintain a good readable range in free-space as well as on a target object. The size of the optimized antenna is $100\;mm{\times}50\;mm$. The antenna shows the matching bandwidth($S_{11}$< -10 dB) of 3.7 % and the radiation efficiency of 80 % at the operating frequency. Finally we confirmed the readable range of the tag antenna by measurement and it shows about 5.3 m in free space and 5.5 m on the target object.

  • Currently, the criteria for input motions used in dam seismic design are clearly presented in general provisions of seismic design (KDS 17 10 00), and seismic ground motion records should be matched to the standard design response spectrum. However, the effect on the results is not assessed according to the selection of the seismic ground motion records, making it difficult to select seismic input motions. Therefore, in this study, the change in the amount of crest settlement of an embankment dam was assessed through numerical analysis after matching the seismic ground motion records of domestic and overseas earthquakes in accordance with the standard design response spectrum provided in the seismic design code (KDS 17 10 00). The results showed that the behavior of the upper part of the embankment, such as maximum acceleration at the crest and amplification through the dam, rather than the effect of free-field acceleration, had a greater effect on the amount of crest settlement. Moreover, it was confirmed that even an input seismic motion matched to the standard design response spectrum can make a difference in settlement depending on the characteristics of amplification through a dam body.

  • Flat panel based digital radiography (DR) systems have recently become useful and important in the field of diagnostic radiology. For DRs with amorphous silicon photosensors, CsI(TI) is normally used as the scintillator, which produces visible light corresponding to the absorbed energy. The visible light photons are converted into an electric signal in the amorphous silicon photodiode. In order to produce good quality images, we need to understand the detailed behavior of DR detectors in radiation. We, therefore, investigated the relationship between DR outputs and X -ray in terms of absorbed energy, using the SPEC-78, X-ray energy spectrum model. We calculated the total filtration of X-ray equipment measuring air exposure and this value was used in the calculation of absorbed energy. The relationship between DR output and the absorbed energy of the X-ray was obtained by matching the absorbed energy with pixel values of real images under various conditions. It was found that the relationship between these two values was almost linear. The results were verified using phantoms made of water and aluminium. The pixel value of the phantom image was estimated and compared with previous results under various conditions. The estimated pixel value coincided with the results, although the effect of scattered photons introduced some errors.
