The slime flounder Microstomus achne were caught at Geomun Island, Yosu-si, Jeollanamdo from January to March in 2006. The fertilized eggs were observed for morphological development of egg, embryo and larva. Eggs were colorless transparent, separative pelagic, absent of oil globule, and the diameter was 1.64${\pm}$0.03 mm (n=50). The eggs were hatched at 168 hours 40 minutes after fertilization in the range of $9.8\sim13.0^{\circ}C$ (mean $11.4{\pm}1.6^{\circ}C$). Total length of newly hatched larva was 4.05${\pm}$0.18 mm (n=20). The larva had developed membranous fin showing waterdrop-shaped structure, and their mouth and anus were not open. The myotomes were 14~15+33~34=47~49. The egg yolks were 1.64${\pm}$0.12 mm in major axis, and 1.23${\pm}$0.19 mm in minor axis. At 12 days after hatching, the total length was 7.32${\pm}$0.42 mm(n=20). The egg yolk was completely absorbed and transferred to post larval stage. Star-shaped melanophores and branch-shaped xanthophores in the edge of membranous fin were more densed. Chrysanthemum-shaped melanophores in the notochord were densed and formed 4~5 melanophore bands. At 90~93 days after hatching, morphological features of the larva, 19.91${\pm}$1.63 mm TL(n=20), were transferred to juvenile stage showing similar features with those of the adult fish.
The Pseudogobio esocinus were caught at Wyuleo-ri, Gyeombaek-myeon, Boseong-gun, Jeollanamdo from April to May 2003. The fishes were incubated in transparent aquarium located at the laboratory of Chonnam National University, and their embryonic and larval development were observed. The fertilized eggs were spherical, semitransparent, and adhesive, and were $1.98{\pm}0.19mm$ (n=50) in diameter. The embryo, including 31$\sim$32 myotomes, hatched through egg membrane at 164 hrs after fertilization. The newly-hatched larvae were $4.61{\pm}0.83mm$ (n=10) in total length (TL). At that moment, yolk was not absorbed, and mouth and anus were not open. Star and spot shaped melanophores were distributed on the lens, and dorsal, ventral, and caudal parts. At 42 days after hatching, larva was $16.22{\pm}0.65mm$ (n=10) in TL. Melanophores were scaterred at head, back, and side parts. Morphological features of the embryo were transferred to juvenile stage showing similar features with those of the adult fish.
The spine loach, Cobitis hankugensis endemic to Korea were collected at the Nokdong River, Unbong-eup, Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do during June 2007 for study its eggs development and early life history. The eggs were obtained by injecting gonadotropin (LHRH-1) to female and were fertilized by dry method in the laboratory condition. The matured eggs were separative, demersal and light yellowish with $1.29{\pm}0.07mm$ in diameter average. Under $23{\sim}25^{\circ}C$, the eggs were hatched in 45~52 hours after fertilization, and just hatching larvae were $4.5{\pm}0.24mm$ in total length. On 5 days after hatching, they were $6.6{\pm}0.13mm$ in total length and their yolk sacs were completely absorbed. From 25 days after hatching, they became the juvenile stage with $9.0{\pm}0.49mm$ in total length. On the 100 days after hatching, their external forms and band patterns were similar to those of adults with average $27.3{\pm}2.82mm$ in total length.

In order to monitor the developmental features of embryos, larvae, and juveniles of Konoshiro Gizzard Shad Konosirus punctatus, the fertilized eggs were gotton using artificial insemination. Konosirus punctatus were caught in Mankyung-myeon, Kimjae, Jeollabuk-do at June of 2004, and experiments were carried out in Ichthyology laboratory in Chonnam National University. Konosirus punctatus spawned draft egg from March to June. The fertilized eggs were cultured in $19.0{\sim}23.0^{\circ}C$(mean, $21.2^{\circ}C)$. The eggs had spherical shape and the diameter is $1.14{\sim}1.34\;mm$(mean, 1.21 mm). The lens began to appear from 35 hr 53 min after fertilization. At the moment, the movement of larvae was more active, and the tail was separated completely from yolk, the heart had forms, and melanophore appeared. Hatching was observed from 37 hr 10 min after fertilization. The total length of the hatched larvae was $4.26{\sim}5.30\;mm$(mean, 4.96 mm), but the mouth and anus were not opened at the time when the larva had yolk sack, and had $22{\sim}27$ myometium, and the anus located just abdominal front of the tail fin, and melanophore accumulated in the eye. Post-larvae used yolk completely after 2 day of hatching, and the total length was $4.96{\sim}5.74\;mm$(mean, 5.24 mm). From 16 days after hatching, the tail had curved tail end, and appeared the stems for pectoral, dorsal, and caudal fins. At 53 days after hatching, the total length of post-larvae was $27.11{\sim}34.09\;mm$(mean, 30.11 mm), and the frontal part of head developed like an adult one. At this time, fins and body are transferred to those of adult Konosirus punctatus. Fishes have a different shape and location of melanophore even in the same family. This research was tried to elucidate the early developmental features of Konosirus punctatus, together with species-specific pattern of melanophore.
Kareius bicoloratus (Basilewsky) is one of the commonly found right-eye flounders and widely distributed in the coastal waters of Korea and Japan. On December 11,1980, the ailthors carried out an experiment to obtain a large number of fertilized eggs from wild adult fish caught by a trawler. The fish were obtained from Maisaka fish market, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The egg is pelagic, spherical in shape and measuring 1.014-1.04 mm in diameter. The yolk as well as the egg capsule is colorless and transparent, and contain no oil globules. The hatching took place in 73 hr 45 min after fertilization at the water temperature $8.0-9.5^{\circ}C$. Newly hatched larvae are 3.09-3.146 mm in total length, with the anus situated in the middle of the body. The marginal fin does not have Pigment cells and myotome number is 17+20=37. Within one day after hatching, the larvae attained 3.77 mm in total length, and there appeared three or four melanophore on yolk sac. When the larvae attained 3.96 mm in total length, melanophores began to appear on the eye ball. Two days after hatching, the larvae attained 4.05 mm in total length, most of yolk material was absorbed, and the caudal fin began to grow at the terminal part of the notochord. When the larvae attained 4.21 mm in total length, mouth and eyes began to move. After 3 days, the larvae attained 4.342-4.394 mm in total length, alimentary canal differentiated, melanophores appeared on the lower jaw and posterior part of the fin membrane. When the larvae attaind 4.576 mm in total length, marginal line of dorsal fin membrane became concave.
The Tridentiger obscurus were collected of Ocheon-dong and Dolsan-do in Yeosu from Apirl to July 2003, and were carried to the laboratory to investigate their development of spawning habit, egg development, larvae and juveniles. The fertilized eggs were measured $0.86{\sim}1.07{\times}0.53{\sim}0.74\;mm$ in diameter. Hatching of the embryo began about 154 hrs 40 mins after fertilization in water temperature of $18.4{\sim}23.2^{\circ}C$(mean $21.2^{\circ}C$). The newly-hatched larvae were $2.72{\sim}2.87mm$(mean 2.83mm) in total length (TL), their mouth and anus were opened, and the yolk sac was completely absorbed. At 21 days after hatching, the postlarvae were $5.32{\sim}7.23mm$(mean 6.02mm) TL, and the tip of the caudal notochord was flexed $45^{\circ}$ upward. The juveniles stage was reached when all fin-rays were formed at 45 day after hatching, and $11.62{\sim}14.32mm$(mean 13.45mm) TL.
Sand fish, Arctoscopus japonicus (Steindachner) is distributed in the coastal waters of East Sea of Korea, Japan, and Alaska. On December 1, 1987, matured adult of sand fish were collected from the shore of Ok-kye, Myongju-gun, Kangwon-do, Korea. The authors carried out artificial insemination on boat. The fertilized eggs were incubated and the larvae were reared in laborato교. The eggs of this species were demersal and adhesive, and their diameter were varied within $3.1\~3.4$mm (mean 3.3 mm, n= 10). They have a number of small oil globules. The spawned eggs in nature were formed the egg mass which were measured ca. 4 m in dia-meter. The hatching took place in 65 days after fertilization at the water temperature of $8.7\~12.3^{\circ}C$. The newly hatched larvae were $8.5\~10.2$ mm in total length with 11 (abdominal) +40 (caudal) = 51 myomeres. 24 days after hatching, the larva attained 19.4 mm in total length, at this time the larvae absorbed the yolk completely, and become postlarvae. 32 days after hatching, the larva attained 23.4 mm in total length, and become juvenile. 56 days after hatching, the juvenile reached 29.9 mm in total length and had adult form. 5 spines of preopercle bone were formed at 24.4 mm in total length. At ca. 15 mm in total length, the form of the pectoral fin was transformed into the adult form.

Development of egg, larvae and juveniles for the Pacific mackerel, Scomber japonicus are described following natural fertilization in the indoor tank of $25^{\circ}C$ water temperature. Following a routine hormone treatment technique for the brood stock, male and female mackerels were artificially matured by intramuscular injections of LHRHa at a dosage of $400{\mu}g/kg$ body weight (BW)+Domperidone at a dosage of $4{\mu}g/kg$ body weight (BW) to induce maturation in a separate aquarium and induced natural spawning. Fertilized eggs were ca. 1.0 mm in diameter; spherical in shape with a single oil globule; pelagic and non-adhesive. Hatching occurs 41 hours after fertilization at $23-24^{\circ}C$. The newly hatched larvae was 3.03 mm in average total length (ATL), the mouth and anus were not open, oil globule located in posterior end of yolk sac, and preanal length was 42.8% of TL. The larvae measuring 2.89 mm ATL, almost absorbed yolk sac and oil globule material in 2 days after hatching, in which the mouth and anus were open. Melanophores, branch or star in shape were observed on the top of head, peritoneal region and along the ventral contour. In 13 days after hatching, the larvae was 6.88 mm ATL, its posterior end of notochord began to flex upward, finfold of caudal fin appeared, jaw teeth were already formed. In 19 days after hatching, the larvae was 7.71 mm ATL completed only caudal fin rays (9+8), and preanal length was 49.4% of TL. In 37 days after hatching, the larvae was 27.4 mm ATL already completed all the fins, and preanal length was 59.9% of TL.
This study aimed to examine the early life history of Trident goby (Tridentiger brevispinis) by observing their egg development and juvenile fish morphology. The average size of mature eggs was 1.13~1.41 (1.30±0.07) mm (n=30), and 0.70~0.86 (0.79±0.04) mm (n=30) in long diameter and short diameter, respectively. The incubation period at 24±1℃ ranged from 167~228 h. The newly hatched larvae measured 2.31~2.78 (2.51±0.18) mm (n=30) in total length (TL), and their mouth and anus were not yet open. At 3 days after hatching, the preflexion larvae reached 2.84~3.10 (2.98±0.10) mm in TL, where in their yolk absorption was complete and their mouths began to open. At 19 days after hatching, the larvae reached the flexion stage, measuring 4.02~4.62 (4.36±0.19) mm in TL. The tip of their notochord was bent upward. At 30 days post-hatching, the larvae reached the postflexion stage, measuring between 5.04~6.36 (5.76±0.51) mm in TL, with the tip of the caudal fin bent at 45°. After 54 days, the larvae had reached the juvenile stage, measuring between 7.43~9.84 (8.48±0.90) mm in TL, and were differentiated by their constant number of fins (6 first dorsal, 12 second dorsal, 11 anal, and 10 ventral fins). This study found that T. brevispinis had larger fertilized eggs and a greater number of myotomes in hatching larva than similar species. Additionally, the distribution of melanophores in T. brevispinis was distinct from that in other similar species, making it easy to distinguish them morphologically.

The present study describes the spawning ecology and early morphological development of Hemitripterus villosus. The natural spawning ground consisted of bedrock and pebbles was the intertidal coast at Taean (Chungnam) and its depth was about 5~10 m. Spawning period was mainly from the end of October to December, when the water temperature and salinity were $6.0{\sim}15.8^{\circ}C$ and mean 32.0‰, respectively. There were no difference of the body shape and color between female and male of Hemitripterus villosus, however its reproductive organs showed clear differences. The male had tube shaped genital papilla, which was connected with testis, and the female had seminal recepacle, which was the lower part of oviduct connected with ovary. Genital papilla of male came out of its body at spawning period and then male copulated. After copulation, female stored the sperm in its seminal recepacle and fertilized when it spawned. Fertilized eggs were reached 8 cells stage after fertilization at rearing water temperature $8.2{\sim}14.9^{\circ}C$. At 29 hours after fertilization, it reached morula stage, and at 146 hours after fertilization, its embryo was clearly formated. Hatching was begun from 1,488 hours (62 days) after fertilization with $8.2{\sim}14.9^{\circ}C$ water temperature. The newly hatched larvae were 12.99~15.46mm(mean $14.16{\pm}0.65$ mm) in TL (Total Length), and its mouth and anus were open. At 7 days after hatching, its yolk sac was completely absorbed and the myotomes were 15+25=40, measuring 15.23~15.54mm(mean $15.39{\pm}0.22$ mm, n=5) in TL. At 75~80 days after hatching, it was measured mean $30.06{\pm}0.76$ mm in TL, and it had reached the juvenile stage with the complete set of fin rays.
