  • We studied the relationship between each type which was figured out by the question paper given to the patients who chiefly complained feeling of cold and Sasang constitution. The results are as follows. 1. Diagnoses in woman's disease with feeling of cold(冷病) are abdomnal mass(uterine myoma, ovarian cyst), dysmenorrhea, leukorrhea and infertility, orderly in number. They have commoness in the origin of disease which are stagnation of Qi(氣滯) and blood stasis(血瘀), cold(寒), damp(濕) and we can find the causes of feeling of cold are stagnation of blood(血瘀) and harmness of damp(水毒). 2. In the type of survey through the question paper, the largest number of the origin of that disease is cold, the next is blood stasis and dificiency of Qi(氣虛), dificiency of blood(血虛), stagnation of Qi, damp phlegm(濕痰) etc. 3. (1)The numbers by constitutional assortment of object are like this. Taeumin are 23 persons,Soumin 14 and Soyangin 6, so we can find the feeling of cold turn up evenly in all constitution but the number of Soyangin was relatively small. (2)The inclination of constitutional type is the highest in Soumin and they often have and feel strongly disorders of their body. (3)We could find the corelation of theoretical background of Sasang Medicine in constitutional type of survey. 4. (1)The numbers by constitutional assortment of the patients with feeling of cold and numbness(冷痺症) are like this. Taeumin are 16 persons, Soumin 7 and Soyangin 3, as are like the distribution of 3-(1). (2)The inclination of constitutional type is the highest Soumin, so they have multiple type of differentiation of symptoms and signs and their symptoms is old and severe, therefore they need long time for cure. In all, except the symptom with feeling of cold caused by dificiency of the blood and insufficiency of yang(氣虛와 陽虛) that we meet frequently on clinic is numerous, the number of that caused by stagnation of Qi and blood(氣滯와 血滯) alike dysautonomia is also large. And we can find the feeling of cold turn up evenly in all constitution but the number of Soyangin was relatively small. Within the case of Soumin, they have both dificiency of Qi and blood, have complex source, so their symptoms are old and severe and they need long time for cure. In Taeumin, they are of large number with dificiency of Qi and we think thst that are concerned with the symptom of exterior cold.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of soup temperature on hunger, energy, and nutrient intake. The hot meal consisted of 400 g of hot beef-vegetable soup (75$^{\circ}C$), Yubu Chobap, Bulgogi, cucumber pickle and radish pickle. The cold meal component were the same as the hot meal except 300 g of water (8$^{\circ}C$) and boiled vegctables (100 g), instead of the hot beef-vegetable soup ot the hot meal. Thirst, core temperature and blood pressure were also measured before and after consumption the test meals in a within-subjects, repeated measures design. 30 women consumed 17% more kilocalories, 13% more protein and lipid and 16% more carbohydrate in the cold meal than in the hot meal. The core temperature at the end of the test meal was higher in the hot meal than in the cold meal. Energy and nutrient intake were inversely correlated with the hunger scores within 1 hour after the hot meal, however those are not related with each other in the cold meal. So hunger feeling might be disturbed in the cold meal. It is concluded that energy and nutrient consumptions were higher in the cold meal, partly because of the distrubed hunger feeling in the cold meal.

  • Aversion to wind is a feeling of cold when exposed to wind; aversion to cold is a feeling of cold. The distinction between aversion to wind and aversion to cold is ambiguous because in greater yang disease the two terms seem to be used indiscriminately. It is, however, worth noting that "aversion to wind" does not occur in the lines presenting disease of the three yin. In this text, we render as "heat effusion" rather than "fever," since the Chinese term is somewhat wider in meaning than familiar English term, Heat effusion is associated with many conditions and occurs both in externally contracted disease and miscellaneous disease (雜病), disease due to causes other than external evils). In externally contracted disease of the three yang channels, heat effusion is a manifestation of the struggle between right qi and evil qi; it does not necessarily indicate the presence of evil heat. In diseases of the three yin, right qi is not strong enough to counter evil qi; hence heat effusion is absent, and instead only aversion to cold is present. Sweating occurs in a variety of patterns. A distinction is made between spontaneous and night sweating(自汗). Spontaneous sweating is so called because it occurs spontaneously without exertion. it has numerous causes. Night sweating(盜汗) is sweating during sleep that ceases on awakening.

  • This study was to identify oral health status, O'Leary index and OIDP for the preventive oral prophylaxis among adults who visited dental hospitals or clinics from 30th September in 2011 to 31th May in 2012. The results are as follows. In DMFT, female(8.79) was higher than male(7.65)(p<.05). Housewife(9.70) and agriculture fishery industry was higher than others(p<.01). In O'Leary index, male(47.41), over 50 years old and 200~300 million won were higher than others. but these results wasn't significantly different. The majority answer about discomfort feeling in OIDP was during meal(66.7), and period of discomfort was 1~2 time/month(29.6). The discomfort feeling in OIDP effected on meal(40.8)and teeth brushing(50.0). The difficulty in daily life were toothache(21.0), cold feeling(20.8), and crowding(19.3). In conclusion, the negative factor of oral health status didn't effect daily life. These findings are require of development of oral health management program which included the prevention of toothache and cold feeling.

  • Cold hypersensitivity means a condition feeling cold at a temperature when one should not feel so. Cold hypersensitivity has been diagnosed based on the patient's subjective complaints. But these days, cold hypersensitivity can be diagnosed by the help of D.I.T.I.(Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging) This study is designed to verify the validity of diagnosis of cold hypersensitivity by D.I.T.I. Thermographic findings of 100 outpatients who visited the Kangnam Korean Hospital, KyungHee University, Seoul, Korea, from June 2000 to November 2000 were analyzed. The experimental group consisted of 50 patients who complained cold hypersensitivity, and for the control group, 50 patients who did not complain cold hypersensitivity. For the diagnosis of cold hypersensitivity of the hands, thermographic measurements were performed on two pairs of areas(palm-upper arm and back of hand-upper arm). And for that of the feet, other two pairs of areas(anterior thigh-top of the feet and posterior thigh-heel). When the criterion for thermal deviation between the palm and the upper arm was appointed as higher than $0.3^{\circ}C$, the sensitivity was 94.0% and the specificity, 90.0%. And when the criterion for that between the anterior thigh and the top of feet was appointed higher than $2.0^{\circ}C$, the sensitivity was 94.0% and the specificity, 76.0%. Through this study, the diagnostic standard for cold hypersensitivity of hands and feet could be presented.

  • This study intended to find out the most substantial items in cold and heat pattern identification(CHPI) questionnaire based on usual symptoms through CHPI diagnosis and evaluation by experts. 120 participants, faculties of OO university, filled out CHPI questionnaire based on usual symptoms by the way of self-reporting. Then 2 Korean Medicine doctors independently diagnosed them whether they belonged to cold pattern identification(PI) or heat PI, and scored the result of it. Pearson correlation of 2 experts was 0.649 in cold PI and 0.605 in heat PI. Agreement was 75.8%(Kappa value 0.516) in cold PI and 74.2%(Kappa value 0.465) in heat PI. Pearson correlation of 2 experts was 0.649 in cold PI and 0.605 in heat PI. Agreement between two experts was 75.8%(Kappa value 0.516) in cold PI and 74.2%(Kappa value 0.465) in heat PI. Items of high correlation with experts' evaluation followed next: "do not usually like the cold", "usually like the warm", "usually feel cold" in cold PI and "do not usually like the hot", "usually feel hot", "usually feel burning sensation in the body" in heat PI. We could infer from that facts that experts give weight on 'subjective feeling of cold or heat in participants body' and 'preference on sensation of cold and heat'. We also expect this study to be an epidemiological foundation to disclose correlation between usual CHPI and diseases.

  • This study analyzed the self-identified cold tolerance and wearing behavior of teenagers inside and outside the classroom during winter, considering recent climate changes. A questionnaire was divided into four parts-general information, thermal and comfort sensation inside and outside classroom, self-identified cold tolerance, and wearing behavior to collect data from 322 students. Over several years, changes were noted in respondents' wearing behavior during winter outings, with the biggest being the purchase of a "long padded jacket" for warmth while outside. Most respondents showed similar wearing behavior, such as no difference between the number of clothes worn in a classroom maintained at 20℃ (girls: 8.0±3.1 layer, boys: 6.5±2.1 layer) and outside (girls: 8.8±3.4 layer, boys: 7.1±3.0 layer), despite feeling differently about the thermal sensation inside and outside the classroom. This difference may due to a teenager's lack of knowledge about temperature and their tendency to follow clothing trends. Female students were more sensitive to the cold and wore more garments inside and outside the classroom. Gender-related differences should be considered when educating teenagers about safe and healthy clothing.
