In this paper, an elementary force fighting problem was investigated. The problem is encountered when a double-rod type EHA(electro-hydrostatic actuator) is combined with a single-rod type EHA to build a redundant actuator system with synchronized motion. When the rod-side chambers of the two different types of EHAs have the same effective piston areas and are simultaneously pressurized by an external load, the two EHAs behave identically, sharing the external load equally. However, when the piston head-side chamber of the single rod type EHA, having a larger effective area than the rod-side chamber, is pressurized by the external load, an abnormal force fighting between the two EHAs occurs, unless their pump speeds are properly decoupled. In this study, the output drive forces of each EHA were obtained from the cylinder pressure signals and applied to the position control for each EHA to maintain the balance between their pump speeds. Adding minor force difference feedback loops to the position control, the force fighting phenomena could be eliminated and steady state synchronization errors were reduced. The power consumption of the pumps also could be remarkably reduced, avoiding unnecessarily high load pressures to the pumps.
In this paper, a transparency analysis and network-adaptive transport scheme are proposed in order to improve transparency of EBA-based force-reflecting teleoperation. EBA guarantees stability of force-reflecting teleoperation over network delay and loss but has limitation that it cannot overcome transparency deterioration of haptic interactions. The proposed transparency analysis quantifies the force feedback distortion caused by network delay and loss. Based on the analysis, the proposed haptic data synchronization and transmission rate control schemes adapt synchronization delay and transmission rate to current network state for more transparent haptic interaction. Through Matlab/Simulink simulations, it is confirmed that the proposed analysis provides an acceptable quantification method about haptic interaction quality and that the proposed haptic data transport scheme effectively improves haptic interaction quality with respect to network delays and losses.
This paper proposes a pseudo-random beamforming technique for time-synchronized mobile base stations (BSs) for multi-cell downlink networks which have mobility. The base stations equipped with multi-antennas and mobile stations (MSs) are time-synchronized based on global positioning system (GPS) signals and generate a number of transmit beamforming matrix candidates according to the predetermined pseudo-random pattern. In addition, MSs generate receive beamforming vectors that correspond to the beam index number based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) using transmit beamforming vectors that make up a number of transmit beamforming matrices and wireless channel matrices from BSs estimated via the reference signals (RS). Afterward, values of received signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) with regard to all transmit beamforming vectors are calculated, and the resulting values are then feedbacked to the BS of the same cells along with the beam index number. Each of the BSs calculates each of the sum-rates of the transmit beamforming matrix candidates based on the feedback information and then transmits the calculated results to the BS coordinator. After this, optimum transmit beamforming matrices, which can maximize a sum-rate of the entire cells, are selected at the BS coordinator and informed to the BSs. Finally, data signals are transmitted using them. The simulation results verified that a sum-rate of the entire cells was improved as the number of transmit beamforming matrix candidates increased. It was also found that if the received SINR values and beam index numbers are feedbacked opportunistically from each of the MSs to the BSs, not only nearly the same performance in sum-rate with that of applying existing feedback techniques could be achieved but also an amount of feedback was significantly reduced.

We demonstrate the transmission of uncompressed 4K videos over the photonics-based terahertz (THz) wireless link using a directly modulated distributed feedback laser diode (DFB-LD). For optical heterodyne mixing and data modulation, a DFB-LD was employed and directly modulated with a 5.94-Gb/s non-return-to-zero signal, which is related to a 6G-serial digital interface standard to support ultra-high-definition video resolution. We derived the optimal frequency of the THz carrier by varying the wavelength difference between DFB-LD output and Tunable LD output in the THz signal transmitter to obtain the best transmission performances of the uncompressed 4K video signals. Furthermore, we exploited the negative laser-to-filter detuning for the adiabatic chirp management of the DFB-LD by the intentional discrepancy between the center wavelength of the optical band-pass filter and the output wavelength of the DFB-LD. With the help of the abovementioned methods, we successfully transmitted uncompressed 4K video signals over the 2.3-m wireless transmission distance without black frames induced by time synchronization error.

This paper presents analog secure communication system about safe speech transmission using chaotic signals. We applied various conditions that happen in actuality communication environment modifying chaotic synchronization and chaotic communication schemes and analyzed restoration performance of speech signal to computer simulation. In transmitter, we made the chaotic masking signal which is added voice signal to chaotic signal using PC(Pecora & Carroll) and SFB(self-feedback) control techniques and transmitted encryption signal to noisy communication channel And in order to calculate the degree of restoration performance, we proposed the definition of analog average power of recovered error signals in receiver chaotic system. The simulation results show that feedback control techniques can certify that restoration performance is superior to quantitative data than PC method about masking degree, susceptibility of parameters and channel noise. We experimentally computed the table of relation of parameter fluxion to restoration error rate which is applied the encryption key values to the chaotic secure communication.
Real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) is an effective experimental technique for structural dynamic assessment. However, time delay causes displacement de-synchronization at the interface between the numerical and physical substructures, negatively affecting the accuracy and stability of RTHS. To this end, the authors have proposed a model-based adaptive control strategy with a Kalman filter (MAC-KF). In the proposed method, the time delay is mainly mitigated by a parameterized feedforward controller, which is designed using the discrete inverse model of the control plant and adjusted using the KF based on the displacement command and measurement. A feedback controller is employed to improve the robustness of the controller. The objective of this study is to further validate the power of dealing with a nonlinear control plant and to investigate the potential challenges of the proposed method through actual experiments. In particular, the effect of the order of the feedforward controller on tracking performance was numerically investigated using a nonlinear control plant; a series of actual RTHS of a frame structure equipped with a magnetorheological damper was performed using the proposed method. The findings reveal significant improvement in tracking accuracy, demonstrating that the proposed method effectively suppresses the time delay in RTHS. In addition, the parameters of the control plant are timely updated, indicating that it is feasible to estimate the control plant parameter by KF. The order of the feedforward controller has a limited effect on the control performance of the MAC-KF method, and the feedback controller is beneficial to promote the accuracy of RTHS.

The pelvis platform is the mechanical part which accomplishes the activities of diminishing the disturbances from the lower body and maintaining a balanced posture. When a biped robot walks, a lot of disturbances and irregular vibrations are generated and transmitted to the upper body. As there are some important machines and instruments in the upper body or head such as CPU, controller units, vision system, etc., the upper part should be isolated from disturbances or vibrations to functions properly and finally to improve the biped stability. This platform has 3 rotational degrees of freedom and is able to maintain balanced level by feedback control system. Some sensors are fused for more accurate estimation and the control system which integrates synchronization and active filtering is simulated on the virtual environment.

Automobile sunroof buffeting is the tonal noise of low frequency around 20Hz. It occurs due to the acoustic feedback process between the shear layer detached from the leading edge of sunroof opening and the Helmholtz resonator-like property of a car cabin. In this paper, PIV visualization technique is applied to the unsteady flow field around sunroof opening of an SUV in the full-scale automotive wind tunnel in order to find out buffeting mechanism. A phase-marking PIV measurement method, in which image and sound pressure are recorded simultaneously, and a phase-rearrangement post-processing program were developed for capturing noise-related velocity fields without expensive synchronization systems. Through this study, some characteristics of the real-car sunroof shear layers under various deflector conditions were identified and these results can provide insights into the noise reduction mechanism of the tube-type deflector.

Mastering a musical instrument for an unskilled beginning learner is not an easy task. It requires playing every note correctly and maintaining the tempo accurately. Any music comes in two forms, a music score and it rendition into an audio music. The proposed method of assisting beginning music players in both aspects employs two popular pattern recognition methods for audio-visual analysis; they are support vector machine (SVM) for music score recognition and hidden Markov model (HMM) for audio music performance tracking. With proper synchronization of the two results, the proposed music learning assistant system can give useful feedback to self-training beginners.
Frequency detector is a circuit that converts the frequency to a digital representation and finds its application in various fields such as modulator and synchronization circuitry. In this paper, a couple of first-order and second-order frequency discriminator structures are modeled and analyzed with their quantization noise sources. Also a delta-sigma frequency detector architecture is proposed. Through theoretical analysis and derived equations, the output noise is obtained, which is validated by simulation. The proposed all-digital frequency discriminator may be applied in the feedback path of the all-digital phase-locked loop.
