스프링강의 피로 특성에 미치는 평균 응력의 영향 (Effect of Mean Stress on Fatigue Properties in Spring Steel)

  • Most of the fatigue test were achieved in fully reversed condition that mean stress is zero. But, generally, mean stress can not be zero. This research was achieved the bending fatigue test that changes mean stress to spring steel and was studied relation with the mean stress and the fatigue life. The method to search effect about mean stress was extended S-N graph in two cases. One method was extended S-N graph using modified Miner's rule with considering damage. Another was extended using tendency of S-N graph. The exponential value(${\alpha}$) of mean stress-alternating stress equation is converged between the Goodman's and the Gerber's value even if fatigue life increases.

  • This paper deals with the bending fatigue strength of SNC815 carburized spur gears. The test gears are heat-treated by two different treatments. One is the direct quenching after car-burization. The other is treated by reheating and quenching. The fatigue test at a constant stress amplitude is performed by using an electrohydraulic servo-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and illustrated. The fatigue strength of direct quenched gears is higher than that of reheated quenched gears. The fatigue strength is estimated from the hardness and the residual stress by using the experimental formula proposed by Tobe and Inoue. The estimated strength is close to the test results, and the validty of the formular is confirmed.

굽힘 하중하의 고장력강 용접 연결부의 피로 평가 (Fatigue Assessment of High Strength Steel Welded Joints Under Bending Loading)

  • 본 연구에서는 자동차 서스펜션 구조에 일반적으로 사용되는 용접부 형상에 대하여 굽힘 하중에 의한 피로수명을 예측할 수 있는 절차를 개발하였다. 이종 재료로 이루어진 실제 제품 용접 연결부의 피로수명 예측을 위해, 복잡한 형상의 제품을 단순화한 용접 시편을 설계하고 이에 대한 굽힘 피로 시험을 진행한 후 모멘트-피로수명(M-N) 선도를 제시하였다. 응력 집중에 의한 영향을 분석하기 위해 시편의 형상을 모델링 한 후 정적 하중에 대한 유한요소해석을 수행하여 균열 발생부의 응력을 구하고 응력-피로수명(S-N) 선도를 제시하였다. 유한요소해석을 통해 구한 응력과 이론 계산을 통해 구해준 응력을 이용하여 응력집중계수를 계산하였고, 응력집중부의 피로평가 방법 개선을 위해 보편적으로 사용되는 피로노치계수 평가법과 굽힘 피로 시험 결과를 비교 검토하였다. 그 결과, 이종 재질 용접 연결부의 정확한 피로 수명평가를 위해서는 기하형상을 고려한 피로노치계수 평가 분석뿐만 아니라 두 소재의 맞대기 용접 시편에 대한 피로 시험을 수행해 주어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

  • This paper deals with evaluation of bending fatigue strength in SCM415 carburized spur gears. The constant stress amplitude fatigue test is performed by using an electrohydraulic servo-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and the enhanvement of fatigue strength due to carburized treatment is clarified. In this study the improvement of fatigue strength is assumed to be caused by an increase of both hardness and residual stress and experimental formula has been proposed for the estimation of bending fatigue strength of carburized gears. The effect of surface conditions on the fatigue strength is evaluated quantitatively and it is close to the relative surface condition factor used in the ISO strength rating formula.

T형 평면용접이음재의 응력해석과 굽힘피로강도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Stree Analysis and Bending Fatigue Strength of One Side Fillet Welded T-joint)

  • In this study, one side fillet welded T-joint, used in box type girder and other welding structure, was investigated by stress analysis and bending fatigue test without edge preparation, with variation of joint shape. The purpose of this study is to give the welding condiltion and design standard on manufacturing one side fillet welded T-joint. As a result, the following conclusions were obtained. 1) In one side fillet welded T-joint, the larger the leg length and the penetration depth, the greater the bending fatigue strength because reduction of stress and strain on toe and root. The increase of the longitudinal leg length rather than vertical leg length contributed to the increase in bending fatigue strength. 2) In one side fillet welded T-joint without edge preparation, both general manual welding and general automatic welding were carried out with same condition. In this case, automatic welding showed deeper penetration and more increased longitudinal leg length than manual welding, so that automatic welding offers greater bending fatigue strength. 3) For one side fillet welded T-joint without edge preparation with automatic welding, the ratio(h/t) of the leg length(h) and the main plate thickness(t) in which toe crake can occur was 1.0 over.

소결치차의 피로강도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Bending Fatigue Strength of Sintering Spur Gear)

  • It is very important to have exact informations on the properties and characteristics of the sintering material as a new material of machine elements. To study the sintering spur gear and the sintering specimen to be consisted of Fe-Cu-C, the constant stress amplitude fatigue test is performed by using an electrohydrolic survo-controlled pulsating tester. Consequently, the S-N curves are obtained and the fatigue strength is compared with flaw depth. Accordingly, this study presents the fatigue strength of sintering spur gears, the critical notch depth of sintering materials and the effects of flaw depth on the bending fatigue strength.

  • The FPCB is used as the important component of the sliding mechanism of mobile phones. FPCB have been used as jumper cables(fixed wiring) in various types of circuits because of their flexibility and bending property. The dominant failure mode of the FPCB is open that was caused by fatigue. The fatigue is repeated whenever the sliding is open, so it is a mainly cause of FPCB fatigue. We examined the bending-fatigue lifetime of FPCB. we focused on observing the contact resistance degradation of FPCB of mobile phones according to different test condition of bending strain. As a result, it has proved that lifetime decreased by increasing bending strain.

  • The purpose of present paper is to estimate the static and fatigue bending strengths of CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastic) laminates having impact damage(FOD). The specimens which are formed with the different stacking composition, EPOXY and PEEK matirx and orthotropic and quasi-isotropic laminated plates, are prepared for this experiment. A steel ball is impacted on CFRP laminates, generating impact damages, and the three-point fatigue bending test is carried out by using the impacted laminates to investigate the influence of the stackin composition on the fatigue strength of CFRP laminates.

  • Hardened layer and compressive residual stress created by carburized treatment effect on bending strength of gear massively. Also, shot peening treatment improves the strength of carburized gear as it does the hardness and residual stress of surface layer. In these days shot peening techniques are welcomed as one of physical improvement ways around the surface of materials. It is used widely because qualitative analysis of shot peening has become possible and surface treatment can be done with very little costs comparaed to other surface improvement methods. Therefore this study investigates the effect of shot peening in surface shape and bending fatigue strength after doing many kinds of shot peening treatments, then doing fatigue test and also explained characteristics of shot peening gear.

Prediction of Bending Fatigue Life of Cracked Out-of-Plane Gusset Joint Repaired by CFRP Plates

  • Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), plates bonding repair method is one of the simple repair methods for cracked steel structures. In this study, the influence of width of CFRP plates on bending fatigue life of out-of-plane gusset joint strengthened with CFRP plates was investigated from the experimental and numerical point of view. In the bending fatigue test of cracked out-of-plane gusset joint strengthened with CFRP plates, the effect of width of CFRP plates on crack growth life was clarified experimentally. Namely, it was revealed that the crack growth life becomes larger with increasing the width of CFRP plates. In the numerical approach, the stress intensity factor (SIF) at the surface point of a semi-elliptical surface crack was estimated based on the linear fracture mechanics. Furthermore, the extended fatigue life of cracked out-of-plane gusset joint strengthened with CFRP plates was evaluated by using the estimated SIF at the surface point and the empirical formula of the aspect ratio of semi-elliptical crack. As the results of numerical analysis, the estimated fatigue life of the specimen strengthened with CFRP plates showed the good agreement with the test results.
