The purpose of this study is to survey middle school students’s awareness of sexuality and relationships with the opposite sex. The students need to have at their disposal basic resources on sexuality education and an established and systematic curriculum. To achieve this result, questionaires were distributed to 640 students who were chosen randomly in three middle schools in Seung-ju Goon and Goo-rye Goon in Chonnam area, 573 questionaries were used for the final analysis. The results were as follows: In the area of awareness of sexuality, male students regarded sex more positively than female students. It also showed that 19.9% or male students and 17.6% of female students were not aware of their virginity. Male students said they felt sexual impulses most when they saw naked women, and secondly, by sex magazines. This indicates students are motivated mostly by outside influences. There is a considerable gap in the degree of sexual knowledge between male and female according to their school year and father’s family education level. However, little difference is seen according to student’s family circumstance, father’s education level. However, little difference is seen according to student’s family circumstance, father’s job, and student’s religion and vise versa. School restrictions were so severs that 48.2% of boys and 47.1% of girls said that schools paid little attention to their needs. The school restricted rather than permitted relationships with opposite sex. Most of the students revealed a dissatisfaction with the school sexuality education program. Because of confucianism, Korean society has a negative attitude towards sexual activity including sexual education in the schools. 56.8% of male students and 81.4% of females students wanted female teachers to be their sexuality education teachers or advisors rather than male teachers, and 44.8% of male students and 51.2% of females students wanted to receive sexuality education in their Home Economics classes. Materials for sexuality education were considered most effective through videos and audio-visuals. As a result, this survey showed that there appeared to be a great need for a sound, effective, and sensitive sexuality education curriculum in the middle schools for teenagers. It should be conducted in such a way that the teenagers will learn about their sexual needs, their gender differences, and understand and know how to conduct themselves in today’s society sexually.
The purpose of this study is to develop the scale which measure father's child rearing behaviors and to identify the demographic variables related. The subjects of this study are 1054 primary school children's fathers in Busan. Questionnaires anr distributed in order to collect data. The dta were analyzed by t-test, F-test, Pearson's ${\gamma}$, Duncan's Multiple Range test, factor analysis and Cronbach's ${\alpah}$ using the SPSS computer program. The main results were as follows ; 1) To make the scale, primary the men, standard deviation, relative frequency distribution of the each items, and Cronbach's were computed. As the result, 36 item were selected in father's child rearing behaviors. Secondarily, the procedure of factor analysis was applied. Consequently, 5 subscales 29 items were selected. Total variance of 5 subscals was 87.5%. Reliability of scales was computed by Cronbach's ${\alpah}$ and the level was relatively considered satisfactory. Hence, subscales named runs and follow ; Father's Child Rearing Behaviors Scale consists of factor I- 'encouragement', factor II-'autonomy', factor III-'affection', factor IV-'achievement', fctor V-'interest'. 2) Practically, to applicate the scale, difference test were conducted according to sex of the children, jobs of the parents, ages of parents, level of the parent education and SES in father's child rearing behavior. As the result, there were variously differences according to demographic variables.
The purpose of this research is to introduce the fundamental data to develop a program to educate parents properly. To do so, the research investigates the relationship between the father's personal variables and the child's creative personality and emotional intelligence, and searches for what variable shave a significant influence on the balanced growth of a child among a father's personal variables. The participants of study were 200 children of 3~5 years old enrolled in kindergarten or child care centers located in mostly DaeGu city and GyeongBuk provinces. The research applied two tools by measuring the child's creative personality, and observing test paper for a child's emotional intelligence. The data was analyzed by the ANOVA test, Scheff$\acute{e}$ s post-hoc test, Pearson's product moment correlation test and multiple regression analysis. In subordinate variables of a child's creative personality, significance difference was discernable partly with the father's salary and education levels. However, there was no significance difference with the father's age. Especially, the positive influence of the father's education level is apparent on the entire child's creative personality variables, uniqueness and imaginative amusement. Influence Emotional self-awareness shows on entire creative personality variables, uniqueness, diverse interest and imaginative amusement. Emotional awareness in others influences on diverse interest, imaginative amusement. Others emotional control influences positively on entire creative personality. The results of this study suggest that the child's emotional intelligence are significant method to improve the child's creative personality in the education field.
This paper investigates the parenting stress of fathers who have preschooler. At first, a causal model constructed, including the parenting stress as a dependent variable and the psychological characteristics of paternal self-esteem and parenting efficacy as parameters. Based on the change of parenting stress, self-esteem and parenting efficacy according to various pertinent to fathers, the causal effect of various variables effecting on the paternal parenting stress is analyzed. The SPSS PC program was used for the statistical analysis, where fully exploited were frequencies, percentages, means, standard deviations, Cronbach α, one-way analysis(ANOVA), path analysis. The results can be summarized into 3 parts, in conclusion: 1) The younger a father is, the higher paternal self-esteem becomes. Paternal self-esteem trend was there, for a father who is a member of large family, and for a father whose education level is high, and for a father whose occupation is professional. Regarding parenting sense of competence, a father shows confidence when he has more income, more educated and less children. 2) The variable analysis effecting on the parenting stress dut to the paternal environment shows that a father feels more stress when his income is less and his spouse is working. The sub-factor analysis on the parenting stress shows that 'typical stress dut to the parenting' increases when his income is less and his spouse is working, and 'pressures pertaning to the parental role and distress' increases for a father with less income, working spouse, less educated and non-professional job. Further 'guilty to the parenting by others' shows higher for a father with less income and a working spouse. 3) The path analysis, which were performed to check the causality of the parenting stress dut to various variables, shows that the self-esteem and the parenting efficacy are significant factors directly effecting on the paternal parenting stress, and the job-satisfaction and marriage-satisfaction are significantly effecting on the parenting stress both directly and indirectly.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between self differentiation and school adjustment among adolescents. Methods: The subjects were 356 adolescents. The following research questions were established. The adolescents' self differentiation level was measured based on Bowen's family system theory modified for Korean adolescents(Je, 1989) and their school adjustment level was measured with developed for Korean adolescents(Park, 1998). Collected data were analyzed by Mean${\pm}$SD, t-test, ANOVA and Schefff and Pearson correlation coefficient (SPSS 12.0). Results: 1. The mean score for the level of self differentiation was $99.99{\pm}11.58$ and school adjustment was $63.52{\pm}8.80$. 2. The self differentiation level was different according to father's education and monthly income. The school adjustment level was different according to glade, sex father's education and father's occupation. 3. Self differentiation had a significant positive correlation with school adjustment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the educational program that is offered on the information menu in the homepage (Familynet) of the Healthy Family-Support Center (HFSC) and suggest developmental directions. For this purpose, first, it deduced that the managerial principles of the education program, from related theories, are included in the family-system, family-structure, family-structure analysis, family life-cycle and ecological system theories. Second, it analyzed the educational programs of 44 local centers that are connected to the homepage (familynet.or.kr) of HFSC. Finally, it suggested developmental directions for managerial improvements of educational programs. As a result, the most popular part in the educational program was parent education, especially the visiting-father education program. The number of couple-related education programs were fewer than those for parent education, because it is difficult for couples to be present at the same time. Family and Self-Cognition programs cover insufficient contents in the parent-education program. Though total program in familylife education is quite large, the number of programs in each separate part is far too small for such a wide subject. So, each part in the program should be made more sufficient. Finally, it suggested the development of an evaluation system and a coaching process as special services for families that are in different development stages and have different family experiences, resources, needs and goals.
