  • Recently, Switching time is the principal factor in a design of frerquency synthesizer for Spread-Spectrum Communications. fast switching frequency synthesizer is important to improve the channel efficiency in a Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FH-SS) tranceiver. In this paper, we design the frequency synthesizer with fast switching time as fast as 1${\mu}\textrm{s}$. In frequency synthesizer design, we use the interpolated PLL method inserted memory Look-up table of DDS to reduce switching time, and have result of improved channel efficiency about 20% by applying to FH-SS Transceiver.

  • In this paper, optimum bandwidth at BbT=0.25 was simulated uisng the formular of S.Elnoubi, who analyzed effect of receiving bandpass filter of discriminator type GMSK modem under static and fast Rayleigh fading channel which is applicable to land mobile channel environment, and measured with experimental system. The experimental results were well agreed with the simulation. The result shows that filter bandwidth is optimal at BrT=0.7 under static fading(fDT=0), while the performance is less sensitive to the bandwidth as Eb/No and fading rate fDT bacome higher.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive channel estimation scheme for OFDM-based IEEE 802.11ad wireless local area network (WLAN). The standard supports two types of information of OFDM packets for estimating the communication channels, which are the channel estimation field (CEF) of preamble and pilot subcarriers. The CEF-based channel estimation provides better BER (bit error rate) performance at slow fading channel state, whereas the pilot-based channel estimation is good at fast fading channel state. Hence, a combined channel estimation method is introduced to improve the performance. The prediction of the channel state to select the proper channel estimation method is required. In this work, an adaptive channel estimation scheme is also proposed to improve the performance of channel estimation (CE). Basing on a channel quality indicator (CQI), the proper channel estimation method corresponding to the channel type is decided.

  • A novel high channel efficiency transceiver based on a fast acquisition frequency synthesizer has been designed. The direct digital synthesis (DDS) technique is applied and a simple memory look-up table is incorporated to expedite channel acquisition. The technique simplifies the frequency control process in the transceiver and thus reduces the channel switching time. As a result, the channel efficiency is improved. The designed transceiver is ideal for frequency hopping mobile communication applications.

  • We propose the Optimum Power Allocation (OPA) scheme for Distributed Antenna Systems(DAS) in the time-varying Rayleigh fading channel. Recently, the OPA schemes which uses the Channel State Information (CSI) including a small scale (fast) fading have been proposed. However, the channel is changing vary fast over time due to small scale fading, therefore Bit Error Rate (BER) increases. Because of this reason, we derive the OPA for minimizing BER in DAS, which only uses a large scale fading to CSI and excepts a small scale fading. The simulation results show that the proposed OPA achieves better BER performance than conventional OPA considering a small scale fading in time-varying Rayleigh fading channel, and also has similar performance in Rayleigh flat-fading environment. The BER performance of proposed OPA which derived in Rayleigh fading channel is similar to minimum BER of Ricean fading channel which has small Line-of-Sight (LOS).

  • In this paper, we propose a pilot symbol assisted low complexity LS channel estimation method for OFDM in fast time varying channels. The proposed method shows low complexity characteristics in terms of memory space and processing time compared with conventional BEM channel model LS estimation methods.

  • Although the massive MIMO system supports a high throughput, it requires a lot of channel information for channel compensation. For the reduction of overhead, the massive MIMO system generally uses TDD as duplexing scheme. Therefore, the massive MIMO system is sensitive to rapidly changing fast fading in according to time. For the improvement of reduced SINR by fast fading, the adaptive power control is proposed. Unlike the conventional scheme, the proposed scheme considers mobility of device for adaptive power control. The simulation of the proposed scheme is performed with consideration for mobility of device. The result of the simulation shows that the proposed scheme improves SINR. Since SINR is decreased in according to the number of device in the network by unit of cell, each base station can accommodate more devices by the proposed scheme. Also, because the massive MIMO system with high SINR can use high order modulation scheme, it can support higher throughput.

  • For the reduction of the 12-channel TDM/FDM translation time the 14-point fast DCT algorithm is used and the polyphase network which translates the prototype filter into the channel filters required in each channel is designed. For the prototype filter the degree of the numerator is 168 and the coefficients have symmetry values, the degree of the numerator is 6. Such a prototype filter is consistant with the CCITT requirements. In this case the required multiplication rate is CCITT requirements. In this case the required multiplication rate is $0.12267{\times}10^2$ multiplications/sec. channel and reduces to about 15-40% of the rate required in the exising systems. The proposed 12-channel TDM/FDM translation system is simulated using a demodulation system with a computer (PRIME 750) and the results show that the proposed conversion method is valid.

  • In this paper, a decision-directed expectation maximization (DEM) algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of channel estimation in OFDM-based cellular systems. The DEM algorithm enables a mobile station (MS) with multiple antennas, located at the cell boundary, to increase the performance of channel estimation using transmit data, without decreasing spectral efficiency. Also, DEM algorithm can apply fast fading without loss of channel estimation performance because that includes channel variation factor in a group. It is verified by computer simulation that the DEM algorithm can reduce computational complexity significantly while improving the performance of channel estimation in fast fading channels, compared with the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm.

  • A novel fast locking dual-loop integer-N phase locked loop(PLL) with adaptive bandwidth scheme is presented. When the PLL is out-of-lock, bandwidth becomes much wider than 1/10 of channel spacing with the wide bandwidth loop. When the PLL is near in-lock, bandwidth becomes narrower than 1/10 of channel spacing with the narrow bandwidth loop. The proposed PLL is designed based on a $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process with a 3.3V supply voltage. Simulation results show the fast look time of $50{\mu}s$ for an 80MHz frequency jump in a 200KHz channel spacing PLL with almost 14 times wider bandwidth than the channel spacing.
