This study aimed to investigate the associations between clothing consumption values and the ambivalent clothing consuming behavior of young female adults. To explain the ambivalent consuming behavior prevailing in the contemporary fashion market, five dimensional consumption values proposed by Sheth(1991) were adopted as explanatory factors, and fashion leadership and spending were included as moderating factors. Data collecting using written survey instrument yielded one hundred and seventy two complete responses from female consumers aged between 20 and 39. Factor analysis on clothing consumption values resulted in five dimensional structures of consumption values for the sample: expressive, epistemic, functional, social, and fashionable values. Among these, expressive, functional, and social values significantly affected ambivalent consuming behavior. The effect of expressive value was strong regardless of fashion innovativeness, opinion-leadership, and monthly income of consumers, however, the effects of epistemic, functional, and social values were changed depending on the moderating factors.
The purposes of this study were 1) to verify the theoretical model of the influential factors of brand variety seeking tendency in clothing products by identifying the relationships among optimum stimulation level, fashion leadership, fashion innovativeness, brand variety seeking attitudes and brand variety seeking behavior and 2) to identify the relationships among research variables according to clothing items(suits, jeans, casual jackets, T-shirts, panties, stocking) and the level of clothing involvement. The data was collected from 457 female college students living in Seoul and suburban areas, and was analyzed by frequency, one-way ANOVA, SNK test, multiple regression and path analyses. The results of this study were as follows: 1) There were significant effects of optimum stimulation level and fashion leadership on fashion innovativeness, significant effects of optimum stimulation level, fashion leadership and fashion innovativeness on brand variety seeking attitudes, and significant effects of brand variety seeking attitudes on brand variety seeking behavior 2) There were significant relationships among the research variables in case of suits and jeans. The relationships between variables were differed according to clothing items and the level of clothing involvement.

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of personal image on self-leadership. The experimental study showed relationship between the variables of personal image and self-leadership by using personal image questionnaires and a revised self-leadership questionnaire both extracted from the literature study. The results of this study are as follows. First, six factors of self-leadership were drawn as the reliability and validity of were verified. The factors of self-leadership and the components for personal images showed a significant correlation. Second, the satisfaction rates of the components for personal image showed significant effects on three factors(performed successfully imagination, self-set goals, as well as belief and assumption analysis) of self-leadership. Third, significant results were obtained from the analysis of differences in self-leadership according to the levels of satisfaction on the components of personal image. These are expected to have effects on self-leadership between the groups for some factors(performed successfully imagination, self-set goals, belief and assumption analysis, self-reward, self-cues).
The purposes of this study were to investigate the influences of need for cognition (NFC) and fashion leadership on regret after purchasing fashion goods in female consumers and examine the relationships between regret and its dependent variables (i.e., dissatisfaction, regret resolution, and rebuying intentions). Data collection was conducted through a survey for females in their 20s~40s, and 642 questionnaires were used for final data analyses in which frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and regression were applied using SPSS 14.0. The results were as follows. The higher NFC was or the lower fashion leadership was, the higher the degree of regret, as NFC and fashion leadership both had a significant influence on regret. In terms of the dependent variables, the higher the degree of regret, the higher the degree of dissatisfaction and ultimately the lower the rebuying intentions. In addition, the influence of regret on regret resolution and the influence of regret resolution on rebuying intentions were significant. This study verified that consumers' characteristics and feelings of regret had a significant influence on their buying behavior of fashion goods. The results suggest that consumers' feelings of regret (which influence consumer satisfaction and rebuying intentions) should be considered in terms of competitive marketing strategies at fashion companies.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in body image and apparel fashion orientation according to gender and somatotype. And the paths for the apparel fashion orientation affected by these variables were also analyzed. The data for this research were collected from questionnaires of 210 male and 180 female college students. The results of this research are as follows: It was found that subjective somatotypes of male and female college students were different from objective somatotypes and that female college students showed high degree of somatotype distortion compared to male college students. The body image was composed of three factors, interest in appearance', concern about weight' and satisfaction in appearance'. Female college students were highly interested in appearance and weight with exhibiting high interest in appearance for the persons who have a thin somatotype and in weight for the persons who have an obesity somatotype, respectively. Female college students were more closely associated with fashion than male students. The higher interest in appearance, concern about weight and satisfaction in appearance persons have, the higher degree of leadership in fashion opinion, fashion innovativeness and confidence in apparel the persons showed. Thus, female students, thin somatotypical persons or standard somatotypical persons were highly interested in appearance. The persons who are more concerned about appearance showed the high degree of leadership in fashion opinion, fashion innovativeness and confidence in apparel. And the persons who are satisfied with their appearance exhibited high leadership in fashion opinion and confidence in apparel.
Purpose - The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of chatbots' innovation attributes on the innovation acceptance for consumers who have used chatbots to purchase fashion products that account for a large share of transactions in mobile shopping. Research design, data, and methodology - Data were collected from Korean consumers aged 20 to 49 who had experience using chatbots when purchasing fashion-related products via mobile circumstances. After a pilot survey of 31 customers, pre-questionnaire was revised for the final test, and the final questionnaire was distributed to 1,500 subjects. Out of these, 244 were retrieved. After excluding 48 inappropriate responses, 196 were used for statistical analysis. Frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, regression analysis and independent t-test using SPSS 23.0 were employed for data analyses. Results - First, four factors of chatbots' attributes were extracted: relative advantages and compatibility, complexity, sensibility, and diversity. Second, two factors were extracted for fashion leadership: fashion opinion leadership and fashion innovativeness. Two groups based on the fashion leadership were identified: active innovation adopters and passive innovation adopters. Third, relative advantages and compatibility, diversity, sensibility of innovation attributes were found to have effects on the innovation acceptance in order. Fourth, significant differences were found in sensibility of innovation attributes and innovation acceptance in groups by marital status and age. The married in their 30s and 40s perceived sensibility as a more important attribute of chatbots than the unmarried in their twenties. Among the groups of different income levels, meaningful differences were found in diversity of innovation attributes and innovation acceptance. Fifth, there were significant differences found in relative advantages and compatibility, sensibility of innovation attributes, and acceptance of Innovation among the groups by fashion leadership. Active innovation adopters were found to be more aware of the importance of relative advantages and compatibility, and sensibility of innovation attributes, and innovation acceptance. Conclusions - The present study provides chatbots' marketing strategies for fashion items need to be modified by demographic characteristics and fashion leadership. Particularly, fashion leadership was found to be an important factor in determining the perception of innovation attribute as well as innovation acceptance.
The purpose of this study were 1) to identify the differences between homosexual and heterosexual men in clothing behaviors(fashion leadership, preference for up-to-date style and sexual attractiveness), lifestyle and sex-role attitudes, and 2) to investigate the relation- ships between clothing behaviors and lifestyle and sex-role attitudes. The data was collected via self-administered questionnaires from 183 adult men(88 homosexual, 95 heterosexual men) living in Seoul, and was analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, correlations and multiple regressions. The result of this study were as follows: 1. Two factors of fashion leadership. were identified: fashion opinion leadership and fashion innovativeness. Four factors of lifestyle were identified: appearance awareness, self-confidence, authoritativeness, and achievement. 2. The result of t-test between homosexual and heterosexual men in clothing behaviors and psychological characteristics, homosexual men showed higher scores in fashion innovativeness, fashion opinion leadership, preference for up-to-date style, and appearance awareness of lifestyle characteristics. 3. From the result of analyzing the effects of psychological characteristics on 4 variables of clothing behaviors, appearance awareness of lifestyle characteristics was found to be the most influential factor for all the clothing behavior variables in both groups.
The purposes of this study were to segment surrogate internet shopping mall consumers by fashion leadership and to find the differences among the segmented groups in regard to surrogate internet shopping perceived risks, selection criteria, dissatisfactions with surrogate shopping malls, and other purchase behavior. The subjects of this study were female consumers who were users of surrogate internet shopping malls. The data were collected during October, 2005. The respondents returned the questionnaires and 283 questionnaires were finally used in the data analysis. The statistical analyses used for the study were factor analysis, ANOVA, Duncan test, and $X^2$-test. The results showed that consumers were segmented by four groups: fashion dual leaders, fashion leaders, fashion followers, and fashion laggards. These segmented groups were significantly different in regard to surrogate internet shopping mall perceived risks, selection criteria, dissatisfactions with surrogate shopping malls, and other purchase behavior. Generally, fashion dual leaders had less perceived risks, considered diverse selection criteria important, and were less dissatisfied with surrogate shopping malls. Also, the fashion dual leaders had a higher purchase frequency and paid a higher price on surrogate internet shopping malls.
Second-hand trading platforms have emerged as a major transaction method among people, and are particularly quite popular with the MZ Generation (Millennial + Generation Z). These generations are more open to transactions through such platforms. Understanding and analyzing these platforms from the perspective of their primary users can help businesses establish effective marketing strategies and attract new customers. This study examines the effect of second-hand trading platforms on usage intention by dividing the benefits into functional, economic, environmental, social, and hedonic categories for MZ generation consumers who have traded fashion products on such platforms. In addition, it explores how differences in fashion leadership affect the relationship between platform benefits, trust, and attitude. A total of 400 participants were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0 and IBM AMOS 24.0. The results indicate that the benefits of second-hand trading platforms have a significant impact on trust in and attitude toward these platforms. Furthermore, the effect of platform benefits on consumer responses varied based on the extent of fashion leadership. This study provides practical insights for developing marketing strategies for second-hand transaction platforms and underscores the academic significance of studying consumer behavior in a second-hand fashion markets.
