Design of CSS3 Polar-Coordinate Layout Module based on Fan Model (부채꼴 모델에 기반한 CSS3 극좌표계 서식 모듈의 설계)

  • Most web documents are written in Cartesian coordinates, so the study of vertical arrangement of text has been well organized, while the study of circular arrangement is very early. With the recent development of circular display devices, the demand for circular arrangement of texts is increasing. Thus, we proposed a CSS3 extended specification of polar coordinate layout for the circular placement of text. First, we defined the concept of fan model for the text arrangement in polar coordinate which is corresponding to box model in Cartesian coordinate. And, we described new definition on the directions of sentence, paragraph and text orientation in polar coordinate. Based on this new definitions, we developed the extended specification consisting of three parts. A part for setting the fan model, a part for setting directions, and a part for setting typesetting properties. To verify the feasibility of the proposed specification in current web browsers, a preprocessor was developed and sample contents were examined. We compared the code length of the sample contents implemented using other JavaScript library CssWarp.js so as to verify the efficiency of the proposed specification.

  • In this paper, the performance of ventilation equipments in enclosed parking garages were investigated for several air distribution systems by numerical method. Air change effectiveness of the non-mixing system was 0.42. It meant that more supply air as much as the design supply air was needed to maintain good indoor air quality. In the high speed nozzle ventilating system which is most expensive one, air change effectiveness was 0.54. Therefore this system satisfied to ventilation design. In the jet fan ventilating systems, air change effectiveness for jet fan ventilating system-A with 18 jet fans and jet fan ventilating system-B with 6 jet fans in circulation mixing arrangement were 0.565 and 0.42 respectively. Jet fan ventilating system-C with 6 jet fans in transport mixing arrangement was 0.535. Jet fan ventilating system-A and jet fan ventilating system-C met the ventilation design. But velocity in jet fan ventilating system-A was over 2.0m/s which is inappropriate in human comfort. Therefore this system is not proper to ventilation. Jet fan ventilating system-C was the optimum one for enclosed parking garages among 5 systems examined in this paper.

  • The performance of fan for engine room of ship is absolutely important when it take into consideration work efficiency, work condition, and the performance of various equipments. Fan performance test should be carried out during sea trial to satisfy owner's requirement as above mentioned. We have considered various values to affect fan test result. In here, various values are to be silencer, fan inlet shape, and arrangement of fan room. In general, the shapes of fan inlet is overall circular type because of the shapes of axial fan. So, all vessels built at SHI have been applied fan inlet of circular type. And now, in order to reduce sound of noise from supply fan, big silencer often has been installed at high value vessels. In this case, the capacity of supplied air can be insufficient due to silencer which is an obstructer about air flow. In this paper, we have studied the performance of fan through comparison between a circular shape and a square shape of fan inlet. We also compare with CFD results and experimental results.

  • We performed a study on the contaminant transfer in a clean space for the location of product and fan filter unit using computational fluid dynamics analysis. To simplify the real product moving process, three different non-moving cases regrading the locations of product were selected: no product, at the lower side, and at the upper and lower sides. And to investigate the characteristics of the contaminant transfer, the arrangement of fan filter units was varied. Local mean air-age and contaminant distribution were used as evaluation indices. From the results, the contaminant transfer to the product was the most when the products were simultaneously located at the upper and lower sides. And the contaminant was easily exhausted regardless of the location of product when the fan filter units were properly arranged at the top side of the clean space.

  • Owing to the trend of an increase in capacity and high-efficiency requirement, the life and reliability of power transformer depend significantly on the amount of heat generation per unit volume and the degradation of insulation oil. These problems can be solved by enhancing the cooling performance of the radiator. The purpose of this study was to find a suitable position of fans for a better cooling effect given by the forced-convection of air in an ONAF (Oil Natural Air Forced) type transformer. In the simulation, commercial software was used for flow analysis, and the cooling passage of the oil was simplified to shorten the time taken for computation. With the diameter of the fan fixed at a constant value, the analysis was performed only by changing the position of the fans. As a result, a vertical position change of the fans does not affect the cooling performance significantly. However, the temperature drop given by the fans positioned on the front region of the transformer is larger than that on the rear region.

Dispersive Delay Lines Based on the Use Of Narrow Open Metal Reflectors and Fan-Shaped Transducers

  • An in-line dispersive delay line (DDL) demands low and controllable reflectivity of the reflectors, especially if the surface acoustic wave (SAW) propagates all the way along the reflecting structure. The metal reflectors are usually too strong and introduce too much attenuation in such a device. The proposed solution of this problem is to spatially separate the acoustic channels for different frequencies with the help of Fan-shaped Transducers (FIDT) and to use narrow open metal reflectors to reduce reflectivity. Special arrangement of FIDT is performed to use 180-deg. reflection of the SAW. Narrow open metal strips with a metallisation ratio of the order of 20% are used as reflectors with small and controllable reflectivity. Reflectivity of such strips is estimated both theoretically and experimentally. Experimental performance of the proposed DDL is presented.

The Noise Reduction of Industrial Blower Using Buff Shapes in Silencer (소음기내의 버프 형상을 이용한 산업용 송풍기의 소음저감)

  • The noise of an running industrial fan or blower depends on the type of a fan, the machining accuracy and assembled conditions of each element, and buffs. Many studies have been carried out to reduce the noise through silencer in blower. In this study, 3 types of buffs which have different hole are employed in pipe of blower to study the influence the number and arrangement of buffs on the noise reduction at inlet and outlet in pipe. Commercial engineering software ANSYS was employed to analyze the characteristics and reduction ratio of pressure. Experimental results shows that optimal one can reduce the reduction ratio of noise as much as 16 percents in the laboratory. Good agreement was found between the analysed ratio of noise reduction and those obtained from the experiments.

Manufacturing and Application of the Flat-ways Spinned Cocoon (평면견의 제조와 용도모색)

  • The flat-ways spinned cocoon was prepared from the silkworm using flat and circular type cocooning frame. The spinning rate of the silkworm was 76.9% compared to the normal mounted silkworm. The arrangement of cocoon baves of the flat-ways spinned cocoon was more linear than the normal cocoon which is curved. To maintain the size-stability of the flat-ways spinned cocoon, degumming process was treated with enzymes. These flat-ways spinned cocoons could be used as padding materials for the thermal insulations and decoration uses for the traditional fan which the silkworms are mounted directly on the fan frame.

High speed wide fan-in designs using clock controlled dual keeper domino logic circuits

  • Clock Controlled Dual keeper Domino logic structures (CCDD_1 and CCDD_2) for achieving a high-speed performance with low power consumption and a good noise margin are proposed in this paper. The keeper control circuit comprises an additional PMOS keeper transistor controlled by the clock and foot node voltage. This control mechanism offers abrupt conditional control of the keeper circuit and reduces the contention current, leading to high-speed performance. The keeper transistor arrangement also reduces the loop gain associated with the feedback circuitry. Hence, the circuits offer less delay variability. The design and simulation of various wide fan-in designs using 180 nm CMOS technology validates the proposed CCDD_1 and CCDD_2 designs, offering an increased speed performance of 7.2% and 8.5%, respectively, over a conventional domino logic structure. The noise gain margin analysis proves good robustness of the CCDD structures when compared with a conventional domino logic circuit configuration. A Monte Carlo simulation for 2,000 runs under statistical process variations demonstrates that the proposed CCDD circuits offer a significantly reduced delay variability factor.

The design concept of the cubicle to improve freezing performance for high speed train (고속열차 배전반의 냉각성능 신뢰성 향상 방법에 대한 연구)

  • The cubicle of high speed train is the equipment where the important train- operating equipments are concentrated, so it requires the higher safety and reliability than any other equipment. Recently, the power car cubicle of KTX-II is, basically similar to that of KTX-I and HSR350x in its size, but consequently, as more sophisticated ATP/ATC and other parts are added, the order company points out the problem of rising temperature in summer. Especially, the interpretation about the possibility of guaranteeing the minimum freezing performance becomes necessary, when Fan Tray is out of order. This paper presents the method of improving the freezing performance while minimizing the effect of dust, and the method of guaranteeing the present freezing performance by the best arrangement of Fan Tray, when Fan Tray is out of order. And as a method of verifying this, we would like to predict the pressure, speed of a running fluid and temperature distribution of cubicle through the flow analysis.
