The purpose of this study is to identify healthy family educational need and life satisfaction of middle school students and their parents. The data for the analysis were collected from 674 middle school students and 597 their parents living in Seoul using the structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA with Duncan test, and Pearson' correlation analysis were used to examine the data. The results indicated that the need for healthy family education of the middle school students was high. The students were interested in consumer economics and friend relationship, whereas their parents were interested in consumer economics and family relationship. Some of the demographic variables, such as gender, living area, and the amount of allowance, were the variables affecting the educational needs of students. There were relatively high correlation between healthy family educational need and life satisfaction, so educators should provide the healthy family education program to improve students' life satisfaction.

Results: Even the participation rate of the CPR education in Korea is only 4.3%, which is extremely lower than other developed countries, there are statistically significant differences between the group that wants the CPR and the group that doesn't on gender(p=0.005), age(p=0.000), education level(p=0.000), numbers of family members(p=0.000), monthly income(p=0.000). diseases(p=0.000). health status(p=0.042). Furthermore, age(OR: 1.025, p=0.000), education level(OR : 0.721, p=0.000), numbers of family members(OR: 0.809, p=0.000), and health status(OR: 1.077, p=0.000) are statistically significant factors on the wish for the CPR education. Conclusion: Accident and EMS experiences are not so much influential factors on that laypersons want the CPR education in Korea. Therefore, certain subgroups of laypersons such as high-risk patients and family members need targeted outreach programs in CPR education.

This is a qualitative research study in which three families focused on scientific culture and conducted the process of forming a family fandom using ethnography. The ultimate goal of science education is the "cultivation of scientifically literate persons.", The researcher examines families who regularly participate in informal science educational programs, such as those offered by the National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea, to understand the cultural ans sociological significance of these activities as part of their daily routines. This study analyzes and summarizes the experiences of three families in different home environments as to the completion of the family fandom through the process of self-sustaining cultural practice formation through family education activities, and science activities. This study found that the process tword completion is more meaningful than the completion itself, in the context of science, culture, family and fandom. The findings of this study are as follows: 1) The process of forming a family fandom began with the individual purpose of each family member. 2) The process of fandom formation was created in an organic relationship through the interaction between parents and children, and the self-sustaining cultural practice strengthened the bond and expanded the consensus on scientific culture. 3) Parents and children together share scientific culture, and unique culture in the form of sharing in their own cultural life as becoming scientifically literate people. The self-sustaining cultural practice of selecting and enjoying these scientific activities is not simple consumption of popular culture, but the role of parents as cultural designers. This has conducted experiential consumption as "refined (or sophisticated) cultural consumers," and family leisure activities as meaning production of family members so it has social and cultural implications that can be developed into a scientific culture.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of family resilience, gratitude, and child-rearing attitude and to identify predicting factors of family resilience among mothers of young children. A correlative research design was be used for this study with self-administered questionnaires. The subjects were 248 mothers of young children from kindergarten located in Jeonnam and Gwangju provinces in Korea. Data were collected between May to June, 2013. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regressions with PASW Statistics 18 (SPSS 18.0) program were used for data analysis. The major findings are summarized as follows: (1) Family resilience was closely related to gratitude and four types of child-rearing attitudes. Gratitude was closely related to four types of child-rearing attitudes. And rejective attitude had significantly negative relations family resilience and gratitude. (2) The significant factors affecting family resilience were mother's education level, gratitude, affective attitude, rejective attitude, autonomous attitude and controlling attitude which explained 63% of the variance. The results indicate that gratitude and child-rearing attitude were significant factors associated with family resilience among mothers of young children. In order to increase the family resilience among mothers of young children, family programs that deal with both gratitude and child-rearing attitude should be designed.

The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a scale for the multidimensional assessment of work-family spillover in working couples with children. The subjects of this study were working wives and husbands with children in Daegu. Two surveys were administered, eliciting 243 respondents and 227 respondents, respectively. Then a series of tests were run to analyze the data, including item-to-total correlation, Cramer's V coefficients, item discrimination, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The results yielded that, first, a preliminary 102 items were developed on the basis of the literature review, and this was narrowed down to 72 items selected with the help of experts. Through preliminary, primary and secondary survey analysis, the scale for the multidimensional assessment of work-family spillover was developed and validated, with a 36 items scale, 18 items for work to family spillover and 18 items for family to work spillover. Furthermore, the scale constructed three spillover processes - time interference, energy depletion, and psychological distraction - and consisted of four different domains of family life into which spillover occurs - namely marital relationship, parent-child relationship, leisure, and housework. The internal reliability was evaluated to show a confidence range of .85 ~.92 for each factor.
The purpose of this study was to validate the Korean Family Support & Challenge Questionnaire (K-SCQ), which is designed to assess family complexity in Children. There were 258 pre-test participants in this study and 498 senior students who were in elementary school. Results from the pre-test suggested us to use Likert scale over a dichotomous agree or disagree scale and positively items over negative ones. Results of the confirmatory factor analysis showed that the two factor structure (family support and challenge) of the SCQ fits well for Korean students. The K-SCQ has also good internal consistency. Further analysis was performed to explore the relationships between four family types based on K-SCQ and children's well-being and flow experience. It showed that the children in a high support/high challenge family had the highest emotional well-being, psychological well-being, and flow experience. These results suggest that the complex family characterized by high support and challenge has strong and positive impact on the children's quality of life.

This research analyzes factors of family life adjustment in mixed-culture families through a focus group and individual interviews with nine mixed-culture couples eighteen people who live in city C. First, the reason that women of other cultures wants to marry Korean men is because they find it a good opportunity, as they expect that Korean husbands will take responsibility of their family. On the other hand, Korean men also expect that they would have some similarities to each other. Also, in southeastern Asian men have more freedom than women to choose an international marriage in Southeastern Asia. Second, mixed-culture couples in everyday life are affected by communication problems, cultural differences, natural environment, financial situation, male -dominant attitude, self-adjustment pressure, house-work role and financial support from their own country. Third, wives from other cultures ask for social support to adjust in Korea and make a healthy family. These women can be important, as they have their own role in the family even though they may be far from their mother in law's strong expectation in how well she can adopt Korean culture.
Purpose: The purpose of this research was to identify levels of parenting stress, depression and family support of immigrant women and to investigate the moderating effect of family support on the relationship between parenting stress and depression of immigrant women. Methods: The research was carried out with 86 immigrant women who were registered in multi-cultural support centers and receiving education in three cities South Jeolla Province. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 17.0. Results: The level of parenting stress perceived by the immigrant women was moderate and the level of depression was slightly high. The level of family support as perceived by the wives was slightly high as well. There was a positive correlation between depression and parenting stress but no correlation with family support. Effects of parenting stress on depression were moderated by family support. Conclusion: Results indicate that family support provided to immigrant women moderated effects of parenting stress on depression. Accordingly, as family support is critical to immigrant women, education and other programs need to be provided to promote understanding of family support as a help for immigrant women.
