  • When the latency of a flow in a fair packet scheduler, which is determined by its rate, violates its required delay bound, the scheduler should reduce the latency with even raising the rate being reserved for the flow. The excessively reserved rate win enforce some outgoing link bandwidth be lost. This loss can not be, unfortunately, evaluated by the three metrics of latency, fairness and implementation complexity used in previous works. This paper is aimed to first introduce the metric of bandwidth utilization to investigate the bandwidth loss in a scheduler and then evaluate the timestamp based schedulers in terms of the bandwidth and payload utilizations. The results show that the bandwidth utilization increases with loosing the required delay bound and, in particular, schedulers with the latency property of WFQ have much better payload utilization by up to 50% than that in the SCFQ one.

  • Most fair packet schedulers supporting quality-of-services of real-time multimedia applications are based on the finish time design scheme in which the expected transmission finish time of each packet is used as its timestamp. This scheme can adjust the latency of a flow with raising the flow's scheduling rate but it may suffer from severe bandwidth loss due to the coupled rate and delay allocation. This paper first introduces the concept of delay resource, and then proposes a scheduling method to improve the bandwidth utilization in which delay resource being lost due to the coupled allocation is transformed into bandwidth one. The performance evaluation shows that the proposed method gives higher bandwidth utilization by up to 50%.

  • Existing MAC protocol can not show good performance in WMN environment. New MAC protocols is proposed because of Mobile Point's mobility, entire distributed environment, heavy traffic problems. This thesis proposes new channel contention method fur Mesh DCF. Mesh DCF uses ACH phase in TDMA frame to perform selection and elimination. Prioritized phases's count m and Fair Elimination phases's count n is determine contention level and make string probability to only one win the contention. Contention Number group's count K to determine the contention level in Fair Elimination Phase gives Fairness but make low probability to only one win the contention. It is sure that enough size of n and K can improve entire performance as result.

  • Industry-University cooperation for pioneering overseas market contributes to improve the quality of manpower and the export performance. However, performance is showing that without exporting experience, exploring overseas market is not promising. Without systematic training and preparation, pioneering overseas market can be a waste of time and budget. I have conducted interviews with 30 participants in Industry-University cooperation for pioneering overseas market. As a result, I have derived a model for each phase of Industry-University cooperation. 8 stages of this model are student selection, cooperation company networking, student education, overseas market research, selection of trade fair, preparation of trade fair, dispatch of trade fair and follow-up management. Opinions of experts have been reflected and compiled to each suggested stage. Specific details can be applied directly to those affiliated who want to start the first or foremost pioneering overseas markets.

  • Previous works for the AF(Assured Forwarding) service in the Diffserv network have no sufficient consideration on the fairness of bandwidth share based on RTTs, the target rates, and the impact of UDP against TCP. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, we propose a FDSA(Fair Differentiated Service Architecture) composed of TRA3CM(Target rate and RTT Aware 3 Color Marking) and TRBD(Target Rate Based Dropping) mechanisms. The TRA3CM and TRBD mechanisms provide three color marking and fair transmission rates among aggregate flows by considering RTT, target rate, and UDP flows simultaneously. In the results of comparing the performance among existing mechanisms and the TRA3CM-TRBD, the TRA3CM-TRBD mechanism was able to mitigate the RTT and UDP effect better than the former. The TRA3CM-TRBD is shown to provide good performance for transmission rates proportional to various target rates.

  • Previous works for the AE(Assured Forwarding) service in the Diffserv network have no sufficient consideration on the fairness of bandwidth share based on the target rate and the effect or RTT and UDP. Also Previous works act like Best-effort service in the UPN(under-Provisioned Network) condition. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, we propose the PFDSA(Proportionally Fair Differentiated Service Architecture) composed of tmTRA3CM(tcp-microflow based Target rate and an Aware Three color Marking), um3CM(udp-microflow based Three color Marker), TRBD(Target Rate Based Dropper), and target rate adjusting function. In the results of comparing the performance among existing mechanisms and the PFDSA, the PFDSA was able to mitigate the RTT and UDP effect better than the former. The PFDSA was shown to provide good performance for transmission rates proportional to various target rates in the UPN condition.

  • The GTS(Guaranteed Time Slot) of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, which is the contention free access mechanism, is used for low-latency applications or applications requiring specific data bandwidth. But it has some problems such as delay of service due to FIFS(First In First Service) scheduling. In this paper, we proposes a weight based GTS allocation scheme for fair queuing in IEEE 802.15.4 LR-WPAN. The proposed scheme uses a weight that formed by how much more weight we give to the recent history than to the older history for a new GTS allocation. This scheme reduces service delay time and also guarantees transmission simultaneously within a limited time. The results of the performance analysis shows that our approach improves the performance as compared to the native explicit allocation mechanism defined in the IEEE 802.15.4 standard.

  • WFQ (Weighted Fair Queuing) provides not only fairness among traffic flows in using bandwidth but also guarantees the Quality of Service (QoS) that individual flow requires, which is why it has been applied to the resource reservation protocol (RSVP)-capable router. The RSVP allocates an enough resource to satisfy both the rate and end-to-end delay requirements of the flow in condition of no packet loss, and the WFQ guarantees those QoS requirements with the allocated resource. In a practice, however, most QoS-guaranteed services, specially the Voice of IP, allow a few percent of packet loss, so it is strongly desired that the RSVP and WFQ make the best use of this allowable packet loss. This paper enhances the WFQ to allow packet loss and investigates its performance. The performance evaluation showed that allowing the packet loss of 0.4% can improve the flow admission capability by around 40 percent.

  • When the bandwidth resources in a packet-switched network are shared among sessions by MAX-MIN flow control each session is required to transmit its data into the network subject to the MAX-MIN fair rate which is solely determined by network loadings. This passive behavior of sessions if fact can cause seri-ous QoS(Quality of Service) degradation particularly for real-time multimedia sessions such as video since the rate allocated by the network can mismatch with what is demanded by each session for its QoS. In order to alleviate this problem we extend the concept of MAX-MIN fair bandwidth allocations as follows: Individual bandwidth demands are guaranteed if the network can accommodate them and only the residual network band-width is shared in the MAX-MIN fair sense. On the other hand if sum of the individual bandwidth demands exceeds the network capacity the shortage of the bandwidth is shared by all the sessions by reducing each bandwidth guarantee by the MAX-MIN fair division of the shortage. we present a novel flow control algorithm to achieve this extended MAX-MIN fairness and show that this algorithm can be implemented by the existing ATM ABR service protocol with minor changes. We not only analyze the steady state asymptotic stability and convergence rate of the algorithm by appealing to control theories but also verify its practical performance through simulations in a variety of network scenarios.

  • WBAN is short range wireless communication technology which is consists of several small devices close to, attached to or implanted into the human body. WBAN is classified into between medical and non-medical by applications based on technology and medical data with periodic characteristics is used the GTS method for transmitting data to guarantee the QoS. In this paper we proposed algorithm that resolve lack of GTSs while data transmit GTS method in superframe structure of WBAN. Coordinator dynamically allocates GTSs according to the data rate of devices and make devices share GTSs when lack of GTSs. We compared delay bounds, throughput for performance evaluation of the proposed algorithm. In other words, we proposed algorithm adaptive WFQ scheduling that GTS allocation support differential data rate in environments of WBAN. The experiment results show the throughput increased and the maximum delay decreased compared with Round Robin scheduling.
