A Study on XR Technology for Digital Twin of Smart Factory (스마트 공장의 디지털 트윈을 위한 XR기술에 관한 연구)

  • The introduction of smart factory digital twins is a concept that has already been proposed to increase productivity in the manufacturing industry through CPS(Cyber Physics System), and has been applied to specific industrial process stages or partially introduced in stages where simulation is required. However, with the recent development of the 4th Industrial Revolution technology, it is receiving attention again along with XR (Extended Reality) technology. However, because there are not many effective cases, this study analyzed the devices, equipment, and technology of the manufacturing process to build a digital twin applying digital threads and synchronized signals and information to control, remote control, and produce intelligent process automation equipment. A platform capable of analyzing information was proposed and developed. Through this, we designed and built an XR content service platform that can support artificial intelligence and developed it to enable control, remote control, and analysis of production information. A possible platform was proposed and developed. We hope that this study will be helpful in conducting research on many cases, and in the future, expanded research on increasing productivity in each part of the process and production is needed through intelligent models.

  • This study proposes a method of generating steel house shop drawing in an automated design method, reducing construction manpower and period. With one hour fire-resistant approval code, reflecting work ability and efficiency, steel-framed house market is expected to extend from one or two story house to multi-purpose facilities up to four story height. More models have been constructed in this system than the first appearance of fire-resistant approval in Korea in 1997. Also, cost estimation of components such as frame walls, roof trusses and floors is obtained with shop drawings. Also, the lack of suppliers of steel framed house shop drawing and unstandardized drawing method get constructors have difficulty in understanding its design. In steel framed house industry, shop drawings are essential part in building and constructing framework and they have major effects on construction deadlines and expenses. By exploring method of shop drawing automation, this study aims to optimize work flow with a standardized drawing method. The proposed system can be applied to manufacturing automation in domestic industry of factory-built panelizing method in the near future.

Automation of Tire Tread Extruder Line Using Cameras (카메라를 이용한 타이어 트레드 압출라인 자동화)

  • This paper describes a vision based automation case study for the tire tread extruder line. To accurately measure the thread widths, two cameras with laser line illumination have been installed near the takeaway conveyer. The overall tread extruder line is then automated by controlling the speeds of take away conveyor and screw motor such that a difference between measured widths and the targeted data is minimized. By doing this, the conventional tread extruder line has been replaced by the developed automated computer system and with only one operator, increasing the production efficiency and reducing safety accidents.

  • This paper proposes the theory for the Low Cost Automation (LCA) as a intermediate process of the factory automation, where the SCA is new adaptation for the improving productivity without changing the current product lines. And also this paper deals with the case study for the predictable effects and technical method at the extruding cable lines. As the results, the implementation of the LCA theory could be acomplished saving materials and man power, improving reliability and productivity. For this facilities, it cost within 5% extra expense of a extruding cable line systems. And it could be refund in six months.

  • Multi-climbing hydraulic robots are used to lift construction factory (CF) synchronously for applications in the automation of a high-rise building construction. In this study, synchronous motion controller is proposed for the hydraulic robots, whose strategy is not only to make each robot follow the reference path basically by sliding-mode control, but also to synchronize motions of two adjacent cent robots consecutively by cross-coupled control technique. Simulations are performed by using SIMULINK for a system similar to a practical application that includes unbalance in CF and wind disturbance. The results show that the proposed controller significantly reduces synchronous errors, compared to the individual controller for each hydraulic robot.

  • The distributed control system is used in wide control fields. Factory automation, home network and building automation are good examples. Lonworks that Echelon company has been developing and providing since 1991 is one of popular distributed control systems. Lonwork system is support various communication media, especially it has a feature that supports communication through the power line. When Constructing Lonworks network in a construction field, the experts, who can treat Lonworks bring laptops that LNS and Lonmaker installed, install the network. However this way takes long time to construct the network and needs the experts. To resolve this problem, this paper suggests that a design of Lonworks network installation machine that is easy to use for everyone and portable. Non-experts can install Lonworks network by using this machine so they can reduce fare for installation of network and time to install.

  • For the application of (actory automation, a UNIX system with satellite processor, which can be categorized into master / slave hierarchical structure, is studied and implemented. The kernel part of UHIX is modified for the master/slavc structure, but it is designed fully compatible with the existing UNIX systems. 4 special user process is created to make easy to down load developed program from host to satellite processor with the concept of co-process. Also satellite processor can send messages and request retrain seNices from host computer. The design principles considered here art reliability, expamibility, and con-currency.

  • In a smart factory environment in a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) environment, sensors and actuators operating on actual manufacturing lines, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to manage them, human-machine interface (HMI) to control and manage such PLCs, and consists of operational technology server to manage PLCs and HMI again. PLC and HMI, which are in charge of control automation, perform direct connection with OT servers, application systems for factory operation, robots for on-site automation, and production facilities, so the development of security technology in a smart factory environment is demanded. However, smart factories in the SME environment are often composed of systems that used to operate in closed environments in the past, so there exist a vulnerable part to security in the current environment where they operate in conjunction with the outside through the Internet. In order to achieve the internalization of smart factory security in this SME environment, it is necessary to establish a process according to the IEC 62443-4-1 Secure Product Development Life cycle at the stage of smart factory SW and HW development. In addition, it is necessary to introduce a suitable development methodology that considers IEC 62443-4-2 Component security requirements and IEC 62443-3 System security requirements. Therefore, this paper proposes an application plan for the IEC 62443 based development security process to provide security internalization to smart factories in an SME environment.

  • The communication issues expected for SMEs are that 1) IT systems are not easy to connect, 2) data collection and integration by heterogeneous systems are difficult, and 3) various fieldbuses and protocols make interfaces difficult. Usually, SMEs often have automation built before the introduction of smart factories. It is necessary to provide communication technology such as Sensing to meet the heterogeneous system level with the old aged sensors in the automation equipment and communication network of SMEs. We will consider how to improve the network interface before applying the latest network technology at the time of preparation using PI.

  • Data used for the SFP module are stored in A0 and A2 memory area based on the SFP-MSA standard. In this paper the auto set-up program for SFP module has been designed and implemented. In order to make the Digital Diagnostic Monitoring Interface, the specific value has been written into the designated register via RS232 communication channel in the LD Driver IC. The Agilent VEE is used as a programming language for factory automation, and optical characteristics of SFP module and SFP-MSA standard are main structure of the implementation. The implemented program has been applied to the manufacturing field and the system gains a higher effect than the result of 6-Sigma.
