Analysis of quinidine for fish tissues using single drop microextraction (SDME) coupled with atmospheric pressure matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (AP-MALDI-MS) are reported. Optimization conditions; such as extraction solvent, extraction time, pH of the aqueous solution, salt additions (NaCl), stirring rate, matrix type and concentration are investigated. Linear dynamic range (${\mu}M$), limit of detection, relative recovery%, and enrichment factor are 0.08-9.2, 0.05, $94.8{\pm}3.1-98.5{\pm}3.3%$, $4.34{\pm}0.28-4.40{\pm}0.30$, respectively. SDME-AP-MALDI-MS shows good intraday and interday reproducibility.
Browning intensity is a major factor to estimate the quality of red ginseng or red ginseng products. The Maillard type of browning reaction proceeds nonenzymatically during extraction and concentration of red ginseng. The present studies were carried out to investigate the effects of amino acids and sugars on the browning reaction during extraction and concentration of red ginseng. Red ginseng was pulverized to 115 mesh and then tenfold (v/w) of water was added to the powder to make the substrate of red ginseng. Solution (0.1 M) of fourteen amino acids and of folly silgars were added to the substrates of red ginseng powder and these were then extracted and concentrated to examine their browning intensities. Amino acids were more effective than sligars in acrelerating the browning reaction. Acceleration of the browning reaction in the concentrate was in the order of arginine> histidine>glycine>alanine>lysine phenyl alanine>aspartic acid>lelicine>threonine>gllitamic acid>tyrosine>valine>istleucine>methionine for amino acids, and was glucose>frlictose >silcrose, maltose for sugars.
In this letter, a simple model parameter extraction methodology for an on-chip spiral inductor is proposed based on a wide-band inductor model that incorporates parallel inductance and resistance to model skin and proximity effects, and capacitance to model the decrease in series resistance above the frequency near the peak quality factor. The wide-band inductor model does not require any frequency dependent elements, and model parameters can be extracted directly from the measured data with some curve fitting. The validity of the proposed model and parameter extraction methodology are verified with various size inductors fabricated using $0.18\;{\mu}m$ CMOS technology.
A study on the separation Cu, Ni, and Co was carried out using LIX 84 leachate, chelate extractant. For this test, artificial test solution was prepared by varing concentrations of Cu, Ni, Co, $(NH_4)_2CO_3$ and $(NH_4)_2SO_4$. It found that pH of the solution was very important factor for the separation of nickel from copper. The results showed that nickel was effectively extracted from copper by using LIX 84 at pH 1.0 to 1.2. The volume ration or organic to aqueous phases was 1.0. According to the McCabe-Thiele diagram, the extraction rate of copper was 99 percents at the equal ratio of organic to aqueous phase in three stages.

Background: Accuracy in feature extraction is an important factor in image classification and retrieval. In this paper, a breast tissue density classification and image retrieval model is introduced for breast cancer detection based on thermographic images. The new method of thermographic image analysis for automated detection of high tumor risk areas, based on two-directional two-dimensional principal component analysis technique for feature extraction, and a support vector machine for thermographic image retrieval was tested on 400 images. The sensitivity and specificity of the model are 100% and 98%, respectively.

The extraction of third molars is a common task carried out at dental/surgery clinics. Postoperative pain is one of the two most common complications of this surgery, along with dry socket. Knowledge of the frequent risk factors of this complication is useful in determining high-risk patients, planning treatment, and preparing the patients mentally. Since the risk factors for postoperative pain have never been summarized before while the risk factors for dry socket have been highly debated, this report summarizes the literature regarding the common predictors of postextraction pain. Except for surgical difficulty and the surgeon's experience, the influences of other risk factors (age, gender and oral contraceptive use) were rather inconclusive. The case of a female gender or oral contraceptive effect might mainly be associated with estrogen levels (when it comes to dry socket), which can differ considerably from case to case. Improvement in and unification of statistical and diagnostic methods seem necessary. In addition, each risk factor was actually a combination of various independent variables, which should instead be targeted in more comprehensive studies.
In the solvent extraction of Ru(IV) with Alamine336, it was found that Ru took part in the reaction as $RuCl_{6}_^{2-}$ in the HCl concentration range of 1 to 5 M. Interaction parameter between hydrogen ion and $RuCl_{6}_^{2-}$ was estimated by applying Bromley equation to the extraction data. From the mixed solutions of Pd(II) and Ru(IV), the distribution coefficients of Pd were found to be higher than those of Ru in the experimental ranges. Separation factor between Pd and Ru rapidly increased with the decrease of Alamine336 concentration. About 60% of the Ru from the mixed solutions was extracted by TBP at 8.3 M HCl, while Pd was not extracted in the HCl concentration range of 1.6 to 8.3 M.

Paeonia lactiflora roots (PLR) are a traditional medicinal plant used to treat inflammatory diseases. Recently, PLR has been reported to increase the secretion of immune regulatory factors and enhance phagocytic activity in macrophages. Therefore, in this study, we compared the macrophage activation induced by PLR under different extraction conditions. PLR extracts at temperatures ranging from 4℃ to 60℃ increased the secretion of immune regulatory factors, but the secretion slightly decreased at 80℃. Under time-based extraction conditions at 60℃, immune regulatory factor secretion by PLR extracts was similar from 1 to 24 hours. Therefore, considering the overall results of this study, extracting PLR at 60℃ for 1 hour is considered the optimal condition for macrophage activation.
In this study, we optimized the coffee extraction conditions for instant coffee production in two stage percolators, which is the most common coffee extractor for instant coffee production. A central composite design was used to build mathematical model equations for response surface methodology (RSM). In these equations, the yield and overall acceptability of the coffee extracts were expressed as second-order functions of three factors, the feed water temperature, draw-off factor (DOF), and extraction time (cycle time). Based on the result of RSM, the optimum conditions were obtained with the use of desirability function approach (DFA) which find the best compromise area among multiple options. The optimum extraction conditions to maximize the yield and overall acceptability over 40% of yield were found with $163^{\circ}C$ of feed water temperature, 4.3 of DOF and 27 minutes of extraction time (cycle time). These results provide a basic data for the coffee extraction conditions for the competitive instant coffee in the industry.
The most important factors among extraction conditions in the extraction process of Barley and Casia tora seed are particle size, extraction temperature, time and initial concentration. In this research project, then, the amounts of extracted materials were measured at various conditions of above factors. They were increased as the particle sizes were decreased and were also increased in the proportional to the value of square of temperature. General mathematical prediction models were developed by an optimization technique for the amounts of extracted materials and extraction rate on the basis of each independent factor. Then, the final prediction model was obtained upon all the factors. As the results, it was also found that the values of overall mass transfer coefficients were increased as the particle sizes were decreased.
