  • DCS (Distributed Control System), the main control system of power plants, is an automated system for enhancing operational efficiency by monitoring, tuning and real-time operation. DCS is becoming more intelligent and open systems as Information technology are evolving. In addition, there are a large amount of investment to enable proactive facility management, maintenance and risk management through the predictive diagnostics. However, new upcoming weaponized malware, such as Stuxnet designed for disrupting industrial control system(ICS), become new threat to the main control system of the power plant. Even though these systems are not connected with any other outside network. The main control systems used in the power plant usually have been used for more than 10 years. Also, this system requires the extremely high availability (rapid recovery and low failure frequency). Therefore, installing updates including security patches is not easy. Even more, in some cases, installing security updates can break the warranty by the vendor's policy. If DCS is exposed a potential vulnerability, serious concerns are to be expected. In this paper, we conduct the penetration test by using NESSUS, a general-purpose vulnerability scanner under the simulated environment configured with the Ovation version 1.5. From this result, we suggest a log analysis method to detect the security infringement and react the incident effectively.

  • Three plans(induction of water flow, supply of oxygen into water, control of fish causing resuspension of solids) proposed to improve the pollutant removal efficiency of Sihwa Constructed Wetland(CW) were estimated by considering the their efficiency and application to the wetland. After construction of facility for induction of water flow in lower part(W 122m${\times}$L 103m) of the wetland, the mean removal efficiencies of BOD, SS, TN and TP were in range of 12.8~37.4% and BOD was showing the highest efficiency. This result indicates that water flows is one of very important factors in the pollutant removal of wetland, especially near the outlet of a large scale wetland such as Sihwa CW. Dissolved oxygen(DO) concentrations after operation of two oxygen supply systems such as Air Bubble Diffuser and Surface Aeration System increased 15.5% and 27.2%, respectively. For maintaining effective DO concentration in Sihwa CW, the operation of oxygen supply system may be desirable during midnight to dawn in the location in which DO concentration is not enough, for instance less than 2 mg/L in CW. In experiments of the fish removal from Sihwa CW, the mean turbidity was lower in test site(6.2 NTU) than control site(10.6). The removal efficiency of thurbidity by th fish removal from the wetland was 41.5%. Therefore, a relevant fish management through a periodical monitoring of fish and turbidity is needed.

  • The aim of this study was to develop a tree box filter system, an example of Low Impact Development technology, for treating stormwater runoff from road. Monitoring of storm events was performed between June 2011 and November 2012 to evaluate the system performance during wet day. Based on the results, all runoff volume generated by rainfall less than 2 mm was stored in the system. The minimum volume reduction of 20% was observed in the system for rainfall greater than 20 mm. The greatest removal efficiency was exhibited by the system for total heavy metals ranging from 70 to 73% while satisfactory removal efficiency was exhibited by the system for particulate matters, organic matters and nutrients ranging from 60 to 68%. The system showed greater pollutant removal efficiency of 67 to 83% for rainfall less than 10 mm compared to rainfall greater than 10 mm which has 39 to 75% pollutant removal efficiency. The system exhibited less pollutant reduction for rainfall greater than 10 mm due to the decreased retention capacity of the system for increased rainfall. Overall, the system has proved to be an option for stormwater management that can be recommended for on-site application. Similar system may be designed based on several factors such as rainfall depth, facility size and pollutant removal efficiency.

  • Electronic Navigational Charts(ENCs) are official nautical charts which are equivalent to paper charts with supplementary information. Although their main purpose is to be used for the safe navigation of ships, they also contain much information on coasts and seas which may be interesting to ordinary people. However, there is no easy way to access them because of their specialized data format, access method and visualization. This paper proposes m implementation of SVG for the access and services of ENCs. SVG(Scalable Vector Graphic) makes it possible to make use of Vector graphics for map services in basic internet browsing environment. Implementation of SVG for ENC applications by this research is free of special server side GIS mapping system and client side extra technology. The Implementation of SVG for ENC Applications can be summarized as follows: Firstly, SVG provides spatial information to possess searching engine to embody SVG map. Secondly SVG can provide high-quality vector map graphics and interactive facility without special Internet GIS system. It makes it possible to use services with very low cost. Thirdly, SVG information service targeting on maritime transportation can be used as template, so it can be used dynamically any other purpose such as traffic management and vessel monitoring. Many good characteristics of SVG in mapping at computer screen and reusability of SVG document provide new era of visualization of marine geographic information.

  • Most of Korea's agricultural water is supplied by reservoirs, so dependence on them is very high. Accordingly, it is important to reduce this dependence and provide a stable agricultural water supply by utilizing an applicable alternative water source. Therefore, in this work, scenarios for different land uses were constructed, and an optimal water supply plan using rainwater and reused sewage water - which are alternative water sources - was created. A study was also conducted to determine the optimal capacity of a rainwater facility. From the analysis, a stable water supply was achieved in the scenario of maximum utilization of rainwater by changing an existing paddy area to a greenhouse area, and about 0.82 ton of flow capacity was required for 1 mm of rainfall on farms utilizing rainwater. As a result of analyzing the optimal scenario to derive the ratio of the storage capacity per unit water collection area, the rainwater storage capacity determined through MODSIM and the storage capacity determined through actual monitoring showed similar results, about 31 and 32 %, respectively, and the optimal capacity of rainwater facilities was calculated to be about 5,796,000-6,182,400 ton.

  • We devised the system to automatically shutdown the boiler and to fundamentally block the harmful gases, including carbon monoxide, into the indoor when the exhaust system swerves: (1) The discharge pressure of the exhaust gas decreases when the exhaust pipe is disconnected. The monitoring system of the exhaust pipe is implemented by measuring the output voltage of APS(Air Pressure Sensor) installed to control the amount of combustion air. (2) The operating software was modified so that when the system recognizes the fault condition of a flue pipe, the boiler control unit displays the fault status on the indoor regulator while shutting down the boiler. In accordance with the ventilation facility standards in the "Rules for Building Equipment Standards" by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, experiments were conducted to ventilate indoor air. When carbon monoxide leaked in worst-case scenario, it was possible to prevent poisoning accidents. However, since 2013, the number of indoor air exchange times has been mitigated from 0.7 to 0.5 times per hour. We observed the concentration exceeding TWA 30 ppm occasionally and thus recommend to reinforce this criterion. In conclusion, if the flue pipe fault detection and the indoor air ventilation system are introduced, carbon monoxide poisoning accidents are expected to decrease significantly. Also when the manufacturing and inspection steps, the correct installation and repair are supplemented with the user's attention in missing flue, it will be served to prevent human casualties from carbon monoxide poisoning.

  • Biogasification is a technology that uses organic wastes to reproduce as environmental fuels containing methane gas. Biogasification has attracted worldwide attention because it can produce renewable-energy and stable land treatment with prohibit from landfilling and ocean dumping of organic waste. Biomethane is produced by refining biogas. It is injected into natural gas pipeline or used transportation fuel such as cars and buses. 90 bio-gasification facilities are operating in 2016, and methane gas production is very low due to it is limited to organic wastes such as food waste, animal manure, and sewage sludge. There are seven domestic biomethane manufacturing facilities, and the use of high value-added such as transport fuels and city-gas through upgrading biogas should be expanded. On the other hand, the rapid biogasification of organic wastes in domestic resulted in frequent breakdowns of facilities and low efficiency problems. Therefore, the problem is improving as technical guidance, design and operational technical guidance is developed and field experience is accumulated. However, while improvements in biogas production are being made, there is a problem with low utilization. In this study, the problems of biomethane manufacturing facilities were identified in order to optimize the production and utilization of biogas from organic waste resources. Also, in order to present the design and operation guideline of the gas pretreatment and the upgrading process, we will investigate precision monitoring, energy balance and economic analysis and solutions for on-site problems by facility.

  • In this study, to optimize the production and utilization of biogas for organic waste resources, the precision monitoring of on-site facilities and the energy balance by facility were analyzed, and the solutions for field problems were investigated, and the design and operation guidelines for pretreatment facilities and generators were presented. Gas pre-treatment is required to solve frequent failures and efficiency degradation in operation of high quality refining facilities, and processing processes such as desulfurization, dehumidification, deoxidization, dust treatment, volatile organic compounds, etc. Since these processes are substances that are also eliminated from the high-quality process, quantitative guidelines are not presented in the gas pretreatment process, but are suggested to operate during the processing process as a qualitative guideline. In particular, dust, siloxane, and volatile organic compounds are the main cause of frequent failure of high-quality processes if they are not removed from the gas pretreatment process. Design of the biogas high-quality process. The operation guidelines provide quality standards [Methane content (including propane) of 95% or more] with 90% or more utilization of the total gas generation, two systems, and a margin of 10% or more. It also proposed installing gas equalization tank, installing thermal automatic control system for controlling equalization of auxiliary fuel, installing dehumidification device at the back of high quality for removing moisture generated in the process of gas compression, installing heat-resisting facilities to prevent freezing of facilities in winter and reducing efficiency, and installing membrane facilities in particular.

  • The purpose of this study was to extract the evaluation factors and assess the relative importance between the factors. For this purpose, the evaluation factors were extracted through literature review and the process of brainstorming with experts, who are related to port security. The evaluation factors were then classified into four higher factors and twelve sub- factors through the use of the AHP method. A survey on the classified factors was conducted by experts composed of public officials, port authority employees and education institutions officials. We also carried out statistical tests to determine the perception gap of weights between the groups. As a result of a relative importance analysis of strength, the security operating system factor was highest, followed by improvement of hardware facilities and increase of security personnel. There was a difference in perception among the groups in policy support, facility support and personnel resources budget support. The results of the analysis show that the strength operating system through the establishment of an integrated monitoring system is a priority. It is necessary to understand the difference of perception between groups and build a systematic cooperation system. The evaluation factors extracted from this study can be used for the measurement of port security efficiency in further work.

  • As the impermeable area increases due to urbanization and industrialization, the influence of non-point pollutants caused by rainfall runoff on the water system is increasing. In the past, the best management practices(BMP) were used a lot to manage non-point pollutants, but recently, technology that naturally treats them through LID (Low Impact Development) technology is widely used. In this study, various rainfall events were simulated through the SWMM model based on the data of rainfall monitoring in bioretention among natural facilities. The characteristic of LID modeling research is that it is difficult to build accurate modeling data with short-term data because real data is the result obtained through natural facilities, and it is difficult to implement an accurate model. In this study, the data monitored for 3 years It is significant in that it has built a precise model. The actual data monitored a total of 18 times was simulated, and the inflow and outflow and the removal efficiency of five pollutants were simulated. As a result of performing the performance evaluation, most of the 7 items showed excellent indicators, and the TN and TP showed relatively low simulation performance. In the future, it is expected that Korea will introduce an integrated water management system in which the water supply system and the sewage system are substantially integrated and operated. Therefore, the results of this study are considered to play an important role in the initial stage of rainfall management in the future integrated water management system, and the extent of rainfall runoff reduction and pollutant reduction in the expected installation area can be predicted in advance. This is expected to prevent overdesign of bioretention.
