The flowering season of jujube (Zizyphus jujuba var. inermis (Bunge) Rehder) is overlaps with the rainy season and the abnormal weather conditions in Korea, thereby affecting pollination, fertilization, and fruit setting. We studied the pollinating activities of Apis mellifera L. and Bombus terrestris L. in rain shelter houses and their effects on fruit setting, with the ultimate aim of stabilizing fruit setting in Z. jujuba. A. mellifera and B. terrestirs were used for pollination in jujube orchard in the rain shelter house for approximately 55 days from June 1, 2016, to July 25, 2016. The peak time of the rate of outgoing and incoming A. mellifera was recorded in the afternoon. However, the diurnal activity of B. terrestris was constant between 09:30 and 17:30 h. The rate of jujube fruit set on current shoots by A. mellifera and B. terrestirs was 10.2 and 8.9%, whereas that in plots with no pollinators was 5.5%. Therefore, using pollinator in the rain shelter house in jujube orchard is effective in promoting jujube fruit setting.

The objective of this study was to examine the growth reaction of strawberry plants to the mixed red and blue LED sources and their installation method. The artificial light sources were : LED PAR(PPFD $2{\sim}4{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$), LED BAR(PPFD $100{\sim}120{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$) and incandescent(PPFD $2{\sim}4{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$) lamp. The lighting treatment was started at the first cluster flowering period as a night breaking lighting and was applied during 3 hours, between 22:00 and 01:00 every day. Plant height and leafstalk length were longer in plants treated with incandescent lamp, where as fresh and dry weight of shoot were heavier in LED PAR compared to incandescent lamp treatment. LED PAR treatment also resulted in the largest leaf area, chlorophyll content was increased by $0.36mg{\cdot}g^{-1}$ after 60 days from the starting of the artificial lighting. According to the experimental results application of 16W LED PAR lamps and W-type installation method can improve light environment in strawberry lighting culture.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 3 environment- friendly farming materials on the growth of pepper and tomato seedlings under low level of solar radiation. The pepper and tomato seedlings were separately grown on commercial substrate and non-fertilizer substrate under 30% shading condition, respectively. The microbe-, enzyme-, and amino acid-supplements were used for the foliar application to the seedlings. The application of enzyme- and amino acid-supplements significantly enhanced the growth of tomato and pepper seedlings grown on non-fertilizer substrate, while there was no significant effect on the seedlings grown on commercial substrate. The foliar application of enzyme- and amino acid-supplements reduced the days to flowering by 3 to 4 days and lowered the node order of fruit set in tomato plants grown on non-fertilizer substrate. The results showed that the enzyme- and amino acid-supplements could enhance the seedling growth and lower the node order of fruit set under limited nutritional conditions.
This study were examined for their external morphological characters such as root, leaf, inflorescenses, flower, stamen, pistil, and fruit as to Korean Thalictrum L. and discussed taxanomic value of characters, and made out a new key. This study confirmed that specialized stems and roots type were divided into fibrous type, fibrous having a tuber type, long fusiform tuberous type, tuberoid type, rhizome type and stolon type. The stem were divided into two types based on existence and nonexistence of striate or pubescent. Leaves were usually 2-3-ternately and was divided into three types based on leaf apex, leaf base and number of lobe. Inflorescenses were divided into two type; corymb, panicle. Flower is bisexual, and don't have petal. It was divided from existence and nonexistence of calyx when it flowering. Especially, the stamens were divided from anther shape and apex shape, degree of dilation of filament, epidermic shape of filament etc., and the pistils were divided from glandular on ovary, length of carpel stipe etc.. The fruit is a achene and it was divided from achene shape, achene rib or wings, achene stipe length. This study suggest that useful characters for identifying section are degree of dilation of filament, anther shape, achene rib and wings, degree of dilation of achene. Also, roots, leaf shape, stamen and pistil shape, achene beak and achene length, achene and leaf hair appear to be useful characters for identifying species.
This study was carried out to find out the effects of date and number of defoliation by different seeding date on growth and yield of perilla. Saeyuepsildlkkae was seeded from April 30 to June 30 at 20 days interval and defoliated from June 30 to Aug. 15 with different defoliation number. 1. Days to emergence, flowering, and maturing were not significantly influenced by defoliation, but those were shortened as seeding date was delayed. The interaction between defoliation and seeding date showed no significant difference. 2. Stem length, number of nodes on main stem, and weight of dry stem were not significantly affected by defoliation, but those were decreased as seeding date was delayed. 3. Yield of fresh loaves was not significantly influenced by seeding date up to May 20, but markedly decreased by the later seeding date. 4. Cluster length and number of cluster per plant were not affected by seeding date, but number of capsules per cluster was decreased from 32 to 25 and 1,000 grain weight was increased from 3.42 to 4.62g as seeding date was delayed. 5. Grain yield was not significantly affected by defoliation and seeding date up to June 10, but markedly decreased by seeding date June 30.

The habitat characteristics of Aconitum austrokoreense Koidz. were investigated to provide basic data for conservation and restoration. The altitude ranged from 260m to 728m with inclinations of $4-39^{\circ}$. As a result of vegetation survey within natural populations, a total of 147 taxa were identified inside 20 quadrates in 7 natural habitats. The importance value of Aconitum austrokoreense was 23.0% based on the coverage and frequency of the herbaceous layer and sat is more dominant. Species diversity was 1.23, and dominace and evenness were found to be 0.22 and 0.77, respectively. The soil type were silty loam (four sites), sandy loam (two sites) and loam (one site). The average field organic matter was 7.83% and the total nitrogen and pH were 0.35, and 5.69. Correlation analysis between environmental factors and population characteristic showed the correlations between chlorophyll content and slope, flowering rate and soil humidity. Conservation on habitats conditions is important for stable maintenance the flora and the surrounding area including habitats has to be designated a protection area for habitats conservation.
This trial was conducted for the selection of drought registance strains and other main characters of orchard grass. Some preliminary results obtained are as follows : 1. The initial growth of orchard grass in sufficient soil moisture condition showed highly significant differences among the varieties. Turkey's D=0.84. However, in proceeding the growth, the grass height among the varieties showed non-significant. 2. Addition of nitrogen fertilizer before first flowering tended to increase the grass height occationally significantly, compared to the control. 3. The survived varieties on the drought soil moisture condition had more numbers of tillering than the wilted significantly except some varieties. However, in grass height between the survival and the wilted, almost varieties showed non-significant differences. 4. In the varierties of Metia, Phyllox and Dorise, all individuals were survived in drought soil moisture condition and showed almost the same growth responces with willted ones comparatively. The plant height and the numbers of tillering of these 3 varieties were as follows: Merita; 26.4 cm 24.2 ea, Phyllox; 31.4 cm 24.6 ea. Dorise; 26.8 cm 35.6 ea.
Genetic variation in field grown Korean ginseng(Panax ginseng C.A.Meyer) was evaluated using random amplified polymorphic(RAPD) markers. (This experiment was carried to collect the local native from farm of Chungnam National University in Korea in order to investigate genetic variation.) Some morphological characters showed considerable variation ranging 22 to 68cm in plant hight, 10 to 38mm in root diameter, 16 to 86g in root weight, and culum color and flowering date, respectively. Ten RAPD primers out of the 32 which produced reproducible bands in 662 Korean ginseng plants were selected for the further study. The total number of bands generated by 10 primers were 108 and among them 103 were polymorphic among the 662 plants with the polymorphism ratio of 94.5%. A total of 662 plants were classified into 16 groups based on polymorphic data with an URP 05 primer.
This study was carried out to effect on Growth Characteristics and Yield of Solanum njgrum L. The experimental results are summarized as follows. Germination, growth characteristics and yield of Solanum nigrum Linne collected from southern parts of Korea were investigated. The one fruit weight was the heaviest in Gochang traditional S. nigrum among the collected sites. The number of seeds in one fruit was high in the orders of Gochang traditional sites, Gwangju traditional sites, Suncheon traditional sites and Naju traditional sites. The earliest flowering of Solanum nigrum was observed on 10. August. The plant height, stem diameter, leaf numbers and branch numbers were ranged from 65 cm to 75 cm, 7.1 mm to 8.2 mm, 237 ea to 270 ea and 12 ea to 17 ea, respectively. The fresh weight per plants were ranged from 265 g to 279 g, and yield of biomass were ranged from 1,298 kg to 1,367 kg per 10a. The insect pest numbers of S. nigrum according to the collected sites were showed no significant in this test.
For the resistance test for Phytophthora blight of $T_1$ and $T_2$ transformants in pepper, Phytophthora blight fungus was inoculated to seedlings of the $T_1$ and $T_2$ transformants by concentration (density: zoospore $10^3/ml$). Occurrence rate of blight at 5days after inoculation was 4.0 % in T1-1 line and 10.0% in $T_1-2$ line, and its rate for 12 days after inoculation was 52.0% in $T_1-1$ line, 64.0% in $T_1-2$ line, respectively. Therefore, the lower occurrence rate to blight was enable to select resistant transformants in the some inoculation density (zoospore $10^3/ml$), meanwhile 'Kumtap' and 'Subicho' were 100% in highest occurrence rate to blight. For field test, in which blight was commonly occurred, of the Youngyang Pepper Experiment Station, the acquired transformant resisting to blight was similar to characteristics of domestic varieties, 'Subic
ho' for fruit shape, but there are some differences in growth, days to flowering, fruit characteristics. Occurrence of blight in $T_2-1-6$, and $T_2-4-9$ lines was smaller approxmately 30% than commercial varieties, 'Kumtap', although occurrence of blight in field was showed higher difference among tested lines. In this study, we concluded that the transformants showing blight resistance selected from habitual field could be fixed at every generation, and the developed transformation system was also considered to develop transformants in pepper.
