This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary fiber(DF) levels on the meat quality in colored broiler. Colored broiler were fed on containing corn-soy basal diet(DF 5%) and high level(DF 6,7 and 8%) of dietary fiber diets for 7 weeks. Dietary fiber level of diet was make up by adding some alffalfa meal. Colored broiler meats were stored at 3$\circ$ for 24hr after skaughter, and used to analyze physico-chemical properties. Proximate component, pH, shear force value, myofibril fragmentation index, water holding capacity, cooking loss, protein extractability, fatty acid composition, Hunter's L, a value and palatability of cooked meat were not significantly affected by dietary fiber levels, whereas the Hunter's value of meat was significantly affected bty dietary fiber levels for the final period of feeding. Crude protein content, myofibril fragmentation index, water holding capacity, protein extractability and Hunter's b value of breast meat's were higher than thigh meat's, but crude fat content, pH, shear force value, cooking loss, palmitoleic acid, linolenic acid, and Hunter's a value were lower, regardless of dietary fiber level.
Distribution of marine algae is diverse in Korea and the resource of edible algae is abundant marking 239,037 tons of yearly production in 1976. They have been known as a protein source and used as a supplement in Korean diet. It is necessary to estimate the potentiality and properties of usable algal proteins especially as food resources and studies of extraction and separation of the proteins, therefore, are basically required for this purpose. In this study, the influence of various factors including the sample treatment, extraction time and temperature, sample us extraction solvent ratio and pH upon the extractability of the water soluble protein was determined. And the effect of precipitation treatment for isolation of the algal protein from the extracts was also tested. Nine species of algae, the major ones in consumption as food namely Porphyra suborbiculata, Undaria pinnatifida, Hizikia fusiforme, Sargassum fulvellu, Enteromorpha linza, Codium fragile, Sargassum kjellmanianum and Ulva pertusa were collected as fresh from Kijang, Yangsan Gun, in the vicinity of Busan city. The content of crude protein $(N\times6.25)$ of the algae ranged from $9.46\%\;to\;24.14\% showing the highest value in Porphyra suborbiculata and the minimum in Hizikia fusiforme. In the effort of maceration of blending methods on the extractability, immersion freezing in dry ice-methanol solution appeared most effective yielding 1.5 to 2.5 times extractability than that of the mortar grinding method. The effect of the ratio of sample vs solvent on extractability differed from species. It was enhanced at the ratio of 1:20 (w/v) in Ulva pertusa and Enteromorpha linza while the ratio was 1:30 (w/v) for Cedium fragile, Undaria pinnatifida, Hizikia fusiferme, Sargassum fulvellum and Porphyra suborbiculata and 1:40 for Sargassum kjellmanianum respectively. The effect of extraction time and temperature was revealed differently from species which might be caused by differences in the constitution of algal tissues resulting in that the extraction for 1 hour at $50^{\circ}C$ gave the maximum extractabilily in Ulva pertusa and Enteromorpha linza, 2 hours in Porphyra suborbiculata, Hikikia fusiforme, Undaria pinnatifida, Sargassum kjellmanianum and 3 hours in Codium fragile. And the extractability was higher at $50^{\circ}C$ to $60^{\circ}C$ for the most of the tested samples except Hizikia fusiforme. The optimum pH for the extraction was 9 to 12. The recovery of extractable nitrogen to the total nitrogen was $63\%$ in average with the first extracts and $8.6\%$ with the second extracts respectively. Both extracts were prepared by 2 hour extraction at $50{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ with dry ice-methanol frozen and seasand macerated materials. And these conditions assumed to be an optimum for the extraction of water soluble algal proteins since the nitrogen content after the first extraction covered $90\%$ of the total water extractable nitrogen. In the precipitation of the extracted proteins, Barnstein method and methanol treatment seemed to be more efficient than other precipitation methods.
BACKGROUND: Oyster shell(OS) is alkaline with pH 9.8, porous, and has high concentration of $CaCO_3$. It could be used as an alternative of lime fertilizer to immobilize cadmium(Cd) in heavy metal contaminated arable soil. Therefore, this study has been conducted to compare effects of calcium(Ca) materials [OS and $Ca(OH)_2$] on Cd extractability in contaminated soil and determined mechanisms of Cd immobilization with OS. METHODS AND RESULTS: Both Ca materials were added at the rates of 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8% (wt Ca wt-1) in Cd contaminated soil and the mixtures were incubated at $25^{\circ}C$ for 4 weeks. Both Ca materials increased pH and negative charge of soil with increasing Ca addition and decreased 1N $NH_4OAc$ extractable Cd concentration. 0.1 N HCl extractable Cd concentration markedly decreased with addition of OS. 1 N $NH_4OAc$ extractable Cd concentration was related with pH and net negative charge of soil, but not with 0.1 N HCl extractable Cd concentration. We assumed that Cd immobilization with $Ca(OH)_2$ was mainly attributed to Cd adsorption resulted from increase in pH-induced negative charge of soil. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) analyses were conducted to determine mechanism of Cd immobilization with OS. There was no visible precipitation on surface of both Ca materials. However, Cd was detected in innerlayer of OS by EDS analyses but not in that of $Ca(OH)_2$. CONCLUSION: We concluded that Cd immobilization with OS was different from that with $Ca(OH)_2$. OS might adsorbed interlayer of oyster shell or have other chemical reactions.

It was investigated about extractability and biological property(ATPase activity) of actomyosin from skeletal muscle of chi(:ken differed feeding period. The extractabilities of actomyosin from pectoral muscle were increased from 184.5 to 1020.1 mg per 100g muscle as feeding period prolonged from 3 weeks to 8 weeks. In case of leg-muscles, extractability was revealed the similar tendency as pectoral muscles. EDTA ATPase activity of actomyosin in various chicken muscles for 3 weeks feeding was 0.6 Brmole Piimg Protein/min., 0.59 for 6 Iveeks feeding and 0.50 for 8 weeks. The Ma^{+2}$-ATPase of actomyosin in various chicken muscles was showed inverted relationship with ionic strength. EGTA ($125\;{\mu}mole$)inhibited Ma^{+2}$-ATPase activity to below $0.1\;{\mu}mole$ Pi/mg protein/min. regardless the feeding period.

This study was carried out in order to investigate protein cross-linking in freeze-dried meat of flounder (Limanda herzensteini). Changes in solubility or extractability of proteins and electrophoretic patterns of the extracted proteins were determined to monitor the cross-linking during the storage of freeze-dried meat. Development of nonenzymatic browning and the loss of in vitro protein digestibilily were also measured to assess their influences on the changes of functional and nutritional properties of proteins. In addition, the effects of lysine added, and removal of fat and water extractives were also mentioned. The extractability of protein decreased upon storage time and temperature, and the loss of solubility of myosin was evident. In case of the samples stored at $5^{\circ}C$ for 150 days, the extractability of protein decreased $26.4\%$, while that of the samples stored at $20^{\circ}C$ for 60 days decreased about $39.7\%$. And it was noted that the loss of solubility of myosin was $68.3\%$ and $98.1%$ for the same storage conditions, respectively. It was noteworthy that the samples treated with $L-lysine{\cdot}HCl$ seemed to prevent more or less the loss of protein solubility, in that, even stored at $20^{\circ}C$ for 120 days, revealed only $57.03\%$ decrease. The nonenzymatic browning was proceeded with the increase of storage temperature, especially, in the samples treated with glucose. This suggests that the decrease in extractibility of myosin was accompanied by the extent of browning. But the browning was retarded in defatted samples. The in vitro apparent protein digestibility was also higher in the samples defatted or water extracted. It was suggested from these results that changes in properties of proteins in freeze dried fish meat were led by the protein cross-linking which was attributed to Maillard type of reactions and protein-lipid interactions.
This study was carried out to find the optimal operating conditions for separation of residual uranium from the simulated radwaste solution containing 19 elements, and to evaluate the validity of the process. The selected process was based on the solvent extraction with TBP(tributyl phosphate). As an extractor, two miniature mixer-settlers with a total of 18 stages were used. Extraction yield of U, Np and Tc was about 99.2%. 32.1%, and 99.9%, respectively. The other elements were coextracted in the range of 1~4%. Extraction yield of U exceeded those of the previous work performed with batch system, which resulted in the low extractability of U (about 80%) according to the coexisting element such as Nd and Fe. It was due to the characteristics of multi-stage extractor. On the other hand, low extractability of Np was caused by various oxidation states in the nitric acid medium. In the case of Tc, its high extractability may be attributed to the complex formation with Zr and U, which is not well proved yet. All elements extracted with TBP were stripped into aqueous phase more than 99% by 0.01M $HNO_3$. From the results, this process has no problem with respect to in the same step was required, because Np was distributed in the raffinate and U product, respectively.
In present study, the effect of various factors including the solvent concentration, extraction time, extraction temperature and the ratio of sample vs extraction solvent(w/v) upon the extractability of the NaOH soluble proteins of marine algae were investigated. Seven species of sun-dried algae, the major ones in consumption as food, namely Porphyra suborbiculata, Undaria pinnatifida(natural and cultivated), Sargassum fulvellum, Sargassum kjellmanianum, Ulva pertusa, Enteromorpha linza and Codium coarctatum were used for the extraction of the NaOH soluble protein. The frozen and masceratd samples were prepared by the same mettled described in previous paper(Lee, 1977). In case of the TCA insoluble protein, all samples reached maxima at 0.025M NaOH solution while the 0.05M for extractable total nitrogen. Variation of the ratio of sample vs solvent gave slight effect upon the extractability, 100 ml solvent added to 1 g dried sample was effective. The effect of extraction time on the extractability differed from species. The extractabilty of Enteromorpha linza, Ulva pertusa and Codium coarctatum reached maxima within 1 hour extraction and 2 hours for the cultivated Undaria pinnatifida while 3 flours for the natural Undaria pinnatifida, Sargassum fulvellum, Sargassum kjellmanianum and Porphyra suborbiculata. The most effective extraction temperature was $60^{\circ}C$ for all samples.
Experiments were carried out to investigate on the effect of cryoprotectants to the quality changes of pork and beef muscles during frozen storage . Beef and pork muscles were mixed with various cryoprotectants and stored at $-20^{\circ}C$ in a chest freezer for 12 weeks. Samples were analyzed for pH changes, TBA value, free atty acid contents, water and salt soluble protein extractability. The results obtained are summerized as follows. The pH value in all of cryoprotectants added samples were increased up to 0.25-0.5 as in non-treated samples . The TBA value, free fatty acid contents were increased with storage time as compared with the non-treated sample. Cryoprotectant effect on water soluble protein extractability was greater in pork than in beef muscle during frozen storage, especially in pork muscle treated CP-B, mixture of sorbitol, sucrose and sodium tripolyphosphate, as compared with non-treated sample. Cryoprotectant effect on salt soluble protein extractability during frozen storage was more pronounced in the beef muscle treated with CP-A which was mixture of sorbitol, mono sodium glutamate and sodium tripolyphosphate, and in the pork muscle treated with CP-B, mixture of sorbitol, sucrose and sodium tripolyphosphate than in the non-treated sample.
BACKGROUND: To determine effect of phosphate (P) application on Cadmium (Cd) extractability and its uptake by rice plant in Cd contaminated paddy soil, dipotassium ($K_2HPO_4$) which was the most effective of P materials to decrease Cd extractability in previous study was selected as P fertilizer. METHODS AND RESULTS: Dipotassium phosphate was applied at the rates of 0, 78, 234, and 390 kg $P_2O_5/ha$, and then rice was cultivated in submerged paddy soil from Jun. to Oct. in 2015. Cadmium concentrations in grain, straw, and root of rice plant decreased significantly with increasing application rate of $K_2HPO_4$. The trend of 1 M $NH_4OAc$ extractable Cd concentration in soil was similar to that of Cd uptake by rice plant. One M $NH_4OAc$ extractable Cd concentration was negatively related to soil pH and negative charge. Alleviation of Cd phytoavailability of rice in paddy soil might be attributed to increase in pH and negative charge of soil. Using a quadratic response model, amount of grain yield were related to $K_2HPO_4$ application rates as Grain yield = $5.38+2.39{\times}10^{-3}K_2HPO_4-6.65{\times}10^{-6}K_2HPO{_4}^2$ (model $R^2=0.968$). Using this equations, the greatest grain yield (5.6 Mg/ha) was at the rate of 180 kg $P_2O_5/ha$. At this application rate of P, the Cd concentration in grain was 0.53 mg/kg, implying ca. 23% lower than the control. CONCLUSION: From the view point of heavy metal safety and crop productivity, it might be good P management to apply P fertilizer with 4 times higher rate than recommendation (45 kg/ha).

This paper presents a unified account of three kinds of constructions in which more than one NP can show up with the same case in simple sentences in Japanese and Korean: double subject, double nominative object and double accusative constructions. Noting that the second NPs in these constructions are functional or relational, this paper proposes to assign them the category and type different from the first NPs. We show the derivations of these three constructions in a parallel manner, and explain the asymmetries in extractability between possessor and possessed NPs in relativization.
