  • Among the fishing vessels operating in the coastal waters, jigging fishing vessels were considered representative vessels engaged only by wind, sea, tide, and external force. Then, a fishing vessel with a length of shorter than 10 m from July 1, 2018 to August 5, 2019 was studied to obtain a drift prediction model by multiple regression analysis. In the correlation analysis between variables for leeway of speed and direction, the speed and direction of tidal seem to be the most affected in coastal waters. Therefore, it should be considered an explanatory variable when conducting drift tests. As a result of multiple regression analysis on the predicted equations of leeway speed and direction due to the external force on the drift of the fishing vessel, p < 0.000 was considered significant in the F-test, but the coefficient of determination was 55.2% and 37.8%. The effect on the predicted leeway speed was in the order of the tidal speed and current speed. In addition, the impact on the predicted leeway direction was in the order of the tidal speed and current speed. ŷ(m/s) = - 0.0011(x1) + 0.9206(x2) + 0.0001(x3) + 0.0002(x4) + 0.0050(x5) + 0.0529(x6) + 0.2457 ŷ(degree) = 0.6672(x1) + 93.1699(x2) + 0.0585(x3) - 0.0244(x4) - 1.2217(x5) + 4.6378(x6) - 0.0837

  • Tower crane hoisting plan is one of the key element for the success of entire High-Rise Building construction. Hoisting time is the basic factor to appropriate hoisting plan which need to the hoisting load estimate and tower crane selection. With this reason, accurate hoisting time is needed to the proper hoisting plan. The current hoisting time estimation for High-Rise Building focus on the hoisting cycle time estimation with historical data. However, this method underestimated the external influences like environmental factor. Thus, this paper aims to develop the hoisting time estimation model with discrete event simulation which include the wind influences with certain height. According to the simulation result, the hoisting time which applied wind influence is increasing with height growth. Because of the high speed wind, the upper area of building has more operation delay time than the mechanical operation time. Seoul, the research area, has the most fastest wind speed on April and the least on October. Due to these differences of wind speed, the hoisting time is estimated with significant differences between April and October. This hosting time estimation model would be used for estimating the influence of wind. Moreover, this could apply to make the realistic hoisting plan.

  • The Samyang-Sameum(三陽三陰) is the movement form peculiar to the cosmic dual forces. Since Byunggi(病氣) along with the Gyungkki(經氣), The Samyang-Sameum(三陽三陰) is the standard for a diagnosis of a disease's outbreak and change. Anyone of The Samyang-Sameum(三陽三陰) can cause a disease in a Gyungkki(經氣) because each and every human being has different Gyungkki(經氣). And, a disease may outbreak by anyone of Wind-Cold-Warmth-Heat(風寒溫熱). Guiding principles of the six Meridians(六經提綱) is set to diagnose which one of the Gyungkki(經氣) causes a disease. Sanghallon(傷寒論) shows several measures to diagnose the lapse of a disease at the beginning stage of external affection(外感) by Wind-Cold(風寒). It is most serious when the Jeongyung(傳經) symptom appears within 6 to 7 days after a disease outbreak since it indicates the exhaustion of true Eum(眞陰). It means the lapse of a disease that formation of dry stool(燥尸) by fast Jeonsok(轉屬) to Yangmyeong(陽明) after a Taeyang(太陽) is diseased. It also means that a position of disease is worsening by a sticking phase of disease when Yipeum(入陰) symptom after anyone of Samyang-Sameum(三陽三陰) is diseased.

  • In this paper, the time-varying failure rate to consider climate effect was extracted. Even if the same kind of equipments is estimated for extracting the time-varying failure rate, the failure rates could be different depending on external effect such as climate. With the consequence, the failure rate extracted to consider the climate effect is necessary for using the failure rate on the optimal investment plan or asset management, To consider the characteristic of climate effects(Classified into 5 categories, heavy rain, thunderbolt, strong wind, tidal waves, no character), the survey of officers charging the operation of equipment in KEPCO branch office was done. With this consequence, this paper suggest the failure rate extraction method to consider the climate effect analyzed by the survey.

  • The performance of a rig tie-down system on a TLP (Tension Leg Platform) is investigated for 10-year, 100-year, and 1000-year hurricane environments. The inertia loading on the derrick is obtained from the three-hour time histories of the platform motions and accelerations, and the dynamic wind forces as well as the time-dependent heel-induced gravitational forces are also applied. Then, the connection loads between the derrick and its substructure as well as the substructure and deck are obtained to assess the safety of the tie-down system. Both linear and nonlinear inertia loads on the derrick are included. The resultant external forces are subsequently used to calculate the loads on the tie-down clamps at every time step with the assumption of rigid derrick. The exact dynamic equations including nonlinear terms are used with all the linear and second-order wave forces considering that some dynamic contributions, such as rotational inertia, centripetal forces, and the nonlinear excitations, have not been accounted for in the conventional engineering practices. From the numerical simulations, it is seen that the contributions of the second-order sum-frequency (or springing) accelerations can be appreciable in certain hurricane conditions. Finally, the maximum reaction loads on the clamps are obtained and used to check the possibility of slip, shear, and tensile failure of the tie-down system for any given environment.

  • It is general that large ships entering or leaving a port located in the East coast of Korean peninsular are often exposed athwart to swell while maneuvering in the vicinity of breakwater at harbor enterance or to prevailing wind inside the port in winter. Particulary, Many VLCCs laden with ore coal are calling at Pohang Port, on account of which it is likely that one of those VLCCs block the port if they were to run aground in fairway due to adverse circumstance of swell, prevailing winds or improper shiphandling. This accident may result in delay of delivery of raw material for Pohang Steel Mill which will bring about shortcomings of steel products for nationwide relevant industries causing national economic shock. Therefore, This study basically aims at establishment of certain criteria for safe unberthing of VLCC in this port to prevent such unexpected disaster because any VLLC is highly affected by external forces when in ballast condition. Computer simulations are unavoidable to fulfull this study successfuly and many simulations have been carried out repeatedly to find a model of safe unberthing under various unfavourable wind conditions. The "PC-based ship maneuvering simulator for training purpose" was used to perform numerous simulations at the least economic burden and to verify its availability that it can be used not only for training but also some other purposes. purposes.

  • A new blade has been developed to apply to Doosan 3MW offshore wind turbine named as WinDS3000TM. The 3MW blade has been designed by the concept of slim external shape and optimized structure. High-performance glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites were used as the main material of the blade. The blade was manufactured using vacuum infusion process in order to increase the fiber volume fraction and to reduce micro-porosities. The blade has successfully passed the full-scale blade static test for certification. During the test, micro-failure signal and strain change of the blade were measured using acoustic emission sensors and strain gages. The blade has robust structure and weighs lighter compared to conventional blade since the new blade was designed by optimization process. The 3MW blade will be commercially applied to WinDS$3000^{TM}$ in 2010.

  • Floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facilities are used at most of the offshore oil fields worldwide. FPSO usage is expected to grow as oil fields move to deeper water, thus requiring the reliability and stability of mooring wires and risers in extreme environmental conditions. Except for the case of predictable attack angles of external loadings, FPSO facilities with turret single point mooring (SPM) systems are in general use. There are two types of turret systems: permanent systems and disconnectable turret mooring systems. Extreme environment criteria for permanent moorings are usually based on a 100-year return period event. It is common to use two or three environments including the 100-year wave with associated wind and current, and the 100-year wind with associated waves and current. When fitted with a disconnectable turret mooring system, FPSOs can be used in areas where it is desirable to remove the production unit from the field temporarily to prevent exposure to extreme events such as cyclones or large icebergs. Static and dynamic mooring analyses were performed to evaluate the stability of a spider buoy after disconnection from a turret during cyclone environmental conditions.

  • Through Korean high speed train development project "G7 Leading Technology Development Project" from 1996 to 2002, HSR-350X has been developed. It can run the maximum operating speed of 350 km/h. Based on this technology, KTX-2 which will be served commercially has been developed till 2007. This paper introduces the aerodynamic analysis of the High-Speed EMU and shows the results of optimized aerodynamic nose shape design techniques and clean pantograph panhead original techniques study. These are the important parts of developments for high speed train which maximum speed is 400 km/h. Especially for decrease of tunnel micro pressure waves, the optimized nose area distributions were derived and the characteristics of micro pressure wave were analyzed. The robust optimized pantograph panhead shapes investigated to improve the performance and decrease the vortex flow which is thought to be its noise source. These shapes are clean and robust to external disturbances like unsteady accelerated flow or side wind was derived. Finally aerodynamic performances was verified with PIV and smog visualization by wind tunnel test.
