Influence of Cognitive Conflict Strategy Through Swing Experience on the Students' Conception of Force on a Simple Pendulum (그네타기 체험을 통한 인지갈등 전략이 학생들의 단진자에 작용하는 힘 개념에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined 8th-graders' conceptions of force on a simple pendulum and investigated cognitive conflict and conceptual change through kinesthetic experience in swing. Participants of this study were guided to anticipate the direction of total force acting on a pendulum at three critical positions and observed it through swing experience. Having completed this, students read an article explaining the results they observed. Most of them considered gravity, tension, and motion-force to be the real forces acting on a pendulum in pre-test. Though they were interested in the activity and conceded their expectations to be different from observed results, the degrees of their cognitive conflict were not significantly high. In summation, 'interest' was the highest and 'anxiety' was the lowest. Most of the students memorized the direction of forces on a swing, but few could explain the reason behind the occurrence in an immediate post-test and delayed post-test.

Effects of an Experience-Based Economic Education Program on Young Children's Economic Concepts and Purchasing Behavior (체험 중심 경제교육 프로그램이 유아의 경제개념과 구매행동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study developed an experience-based economic education program and examined its effects on young children's economic concepts and purchasing behavior. Subjects were 60 5-year-old kindergarteners assigned to an experimental or a control group. Instruments for pre- and post-tests were the Economic Concept Task (Laney, 1995) and the Purchasing Behavior Task (Jang, 2004). Experimental group children participated in the economic education program for 5 weeks; control group children listened to economic stories. Differences between pre- and post-test in the experimental group showed that the economic education program was effective in development of concepts of scarcity, opportunity cost, resource/production, goods/services, and complements/substitutes. Children's purchasing behavior changed partially after application of the program.

Research on toy design based on children's education and experience (교육 및 체험 기반으로 한 어린이 장난감 디자인에 관한 연구)

  • Based on the theory of interactive experience in children's toy design, this paper analyzes and explores the interactive experience of education children's toys. Based on the basic elements of product design, a case study of the popular children's educational toys in the Korean sales rankings was carried out. In addition, according to the user experience model, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the popular children's educational toys sold in Korea. The results show that the top three children's educational toys by sales are smart toys. Satisfaction is highest for feeling, feeling, thinking, acting, and related experiences. It provides a theoretical basis for the interactive experience design of children's smart toys. Design experiential toys that are more suitable for children's physical and mental health and more suitable for children's psychological development.

The Effects of Forest Experience Activities for Developing a Moral Sense on Moral Development of Children (도덕성 함양을 위한 숲 체험 활동이 유아의 도덕성 발달에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is intended to look into the effects of forest experience activities for developing a moral sense on moral development of children. To achieve this, forest experience activities were performed to 40 5-year-old children from H kindergarten in Chungnam area through April 7 to July 25, 2014. They were classified into an experimental group(9 male children and 11 female children) and a control group(9 male children and 11 female children). Forest experience activities and Nuri curriculum-related forest experience activities were performed to the experimental group and the control group 10 times, respectively. The results were as follows. First, forest activity education had an effect on improving children's moral judgment. Second, moral behaviors showed that the experimental group improved in order, courtesy and moderation, which forest experience activities had a significant effect on improvement in their moral behaviors. As stated above, children's forest activities will valuable education to enhance moral development that identifies the preciousness of life through communion and interaction with nature along with peers, and order, manners and self-control by joint cooperative activities between peers.

Study about the Case that the High School Science Club Experience Affected on Students' Career Decision (고등학교 과학 동아리 활동 경험이 학생들의 진로선택에 영향을 준 사례 연구)

  • This study is the analysis of interview with science major student about the effect of science club experience on career decision. The special interview was planned and arranged to meet students as well as their teacher. Both of the student whose background had experience in the science club activity, field science education during their high school days are majoring in physics and biology. In Summary: 1) science teacher's guidance deeply impressed the student that they respect the teacher as a occupational role model. 2) they really enjoyed the hands-on activities joyful. 3) their experience lasted so long time to keep them to stay in science field. 4) they had an experience of speaking before peer science club students who had similar interest and talent. We found the above four factors were really influential to encourage the subject to major in science career.

A Study on Contents of Robot Education Curriculum (로봇 교육과정 단계별 학습내용에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, robot curriculum was developed to fulfill systematic robot education in elementary and middle schools. For literature research, robot curriculum cases in the UK, the US, and Korea were surveyed to choose and organize robot education contents. The robot curriculum developed is categorized into five areas-robot basic course, sensor, structure/motion, control, and problem-solving-and consist of four step-robot experience, robot creation, robot exploration, and robot control. Stepwise learning contents reflected difficulty and sequence to let students experience intensive repetitive activity. This study will lay the foundation for applying systematic robot education to elementary and middle school students. In the future, it is expected to study the development and application of various programs on the basis of the developed robot curriculum.

Recognition, attitudes, knowledge, education experience, and education demand regarding physical restraint among laypersons (신체억제대에 대한 일반인의 인식, 태도, 지식 및 교육경험과 교육요구도 조사)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate recognition, attitudes, knowledge, education experience, and education demand regarding physical restraint among laypersons. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 105 randomly recruited laypersons in D city. Excluding 2 incomplete answers, 103 data were analyzed by frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and chi-square test using SPSS 23.0. Results: Laypersons' recognition of physical restraints was rated at 3.37 out of 5 points, and showed a positive perspective. Knowledge on physical restraints was rated at 13.68 out of 18 points and was affected by age and education level (F = 2.845, p = .028)(F = 3.126, p = .029) A majority of the participants had no education on physical restraints. Nevertheless, participants showed intention to receive education in physical restraint to reach further understanding. Conclusion: Education on physical restraints is necessary for lay persons. However, there were education limits for people living in modern times. As an intervention addressing this problem, observing videos on the internet is recommended. Moreover, for advertising/educational purposes, accessing the internet and using smart-phone applications are suggested.

Factors Affecting the Stages of Behavioral Change of GMO Awareness and Interest in the Full Labeling System of University Students in Gyeongnam Area (경남지역 일부 대학생들의 GMO 인식 및 완전표시제 관심 행동변화단계에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This study was conducted to find out the factors affecting the stages of behavioral change about GMO(n=202 university students). 52.0% of the respondents had no experience in GMO education, the stages of pre-contemplation and contemplation were 35.6% and 29.7%, respectively. Experience and awareness on GMO were the highest at 86.6% and 51.5%, respectively, and 55% of the respondents did not know about the implementation of the labeling system. Positive and negative perceptions on GMO score were 3.41 and 3.22, respectively. The need for the full labeling system of GM foods was 56.4%, the intention not to pay when the price rises due to the system was 70.8%. Regression analysis of factors affecting the stages of behavioral change showed health interest(t=2.10, p<0.05), educational experience(t=2.81, p<0.01), knowledge score(t=2.260, p<0.05), and negative perception(t=2.13, p<0.05). The results of this study suggest that in order to increase the stage of behavioral change in GMO, it is necessary to raise interest in health and knowledge and have the correct perception through GMO education

The Death Orientation of Paramedic Student (응급구조과 학생의 죽음에 관한 의식)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of death in paramedic student. The results of this study will help develop education program for death orientation, paramedic students education and practice. Methods : A total of 201 paramedic students filled out the questionnaire. The perception of death was examined using questionnaires designed for examining Death Orientation. The data were analyzed with SPSS 18.0 statistics program for frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, cronbach alpha coefficient, factor analysis. cronbach alpha coefficient was .866. Results : The paramedic students' got a score of $2.35({\pm}.48)$ on the Orientation on death as average. The reason is that death is not yet pressing them at all and ahead of their lives they have many days to live. With respect to the Death Orientation, significant differences was found in experience of death(t=2.318, p=.021). Group of death experience was higher than group of no death experience. In view of the attitude on afterlife, students responded no afterlife(24.9%), unknown after death(22.4%). Conclusion : The results of this study suggest that paramedic curriculum should include education program on death and improve quality of prehospital care. Additional studies are needed to establish death education for paramedic.

The Relationship between Status of Chronic Disease and Fall Experience in Korean Elderly: Based on 2015 Community Health Survey (한국 노인의 만성질환과 낙상경험과의 관련성: 2015년 지역사회건강조사를 기반으로)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to understand the relevance of chronic disease conditions and fall experience among people aged 65 and older. and use them as basic data to reduce the risk of falling. Methods: The study selected 26,122 men and 37,777 women aged 65 and over as final subjects of the study, using raw data from the Community Health Survey in 2015. The statistical analysis used SAS 9.4 USA. Results: About 20% of those aged 65 and older experienced a fall, with one in five elderly people experiencing a fall, and the ratio of men to women was 3:7, women higher than men. As the age grew, the lower the level of education, the more senior citizens who lived alone occurred falls. In addition, the incidence of falls was higher when the number of chronic diseases was more than three. The incidence of falls was 1.1-1.5 times higher depending on chronic diseases. Conclusion: The development of education and exercise programs for preventing fall of senior citizens aged 65 and older is required and further study is needed.
