  • The purpose of the study shall be to achieve an understanding of learning and emotional support services for adolescents being raised by their grandparents. In-depth interview and qualitative methodology were used to find changes in the service experiences of 10 adolescents being raised by their grandparents by analyzing their experiences at a health family support center. 1 agency in the Chungnam area was selected as a model for its program for adolescents being raised by their grandparents. Ultimately, 78 items as sub-concepts, 44 items as sub-categories, and 4 items as subjects were identified. Specifically, these included school achievement, peer group relationship, family relationship and significant others. In conclusion, they were found to experience slower physical and emotional development and tend to withdraw in social situations. They were also found to have experienced difficulties in communicating with other people and with school achievement. However, it was shown that these adolescents have made positive changes after participating in a program involving a family coach who supports and provides services for them. Also, they were found to have experienced psychologically changes, and improved in their school achievement and personal relationships. Consequently, we will require more effort to provide emotional support, adult role models, counseling intervention, and social support for them.

  • This study examines the effect of oral narration learning for children's forest fairy tales on self-emotional regulation and community spirit cultivation. To achieve this aim, experiments were conducted involving 40 children in S city during 16 sessions over a period of 8 weeks. Findings showed that the experimental group with oral narration learning regarding forest fairy tales was higher than the control group, confirming the usefulness of oral narration learning for forest fairy tales. In particular, the experimental group was higher than the control group in basic lifestyle, community spirit, sociality development and self-awareness of community spirit factors. In other words, children can focus their attention on fairy tales by reading, listening and directly experiencing fairy tale materials in nature as communication with nature in forest experience activities, and can collaborate with peers based on their emotional connection with nature. Their ability to practice principles and order as well as to improve relationships with peers and increase self-emotional regulation is enhanced through experience with fairy tale stories. Such results imply that the utilization of forest fairy tales needs to be enhanced, as forest fairy tale-linked activities have a positive educational effect on community spirit cultivation as well as self-emotional regulation.

  • This qualitative research provides a situation model, which is designed for promoting learning of eigenvalue and eigenvector. This study also demonstrates the usefulness of the model through a small groups discussion. Particularly, participants of the discussion were asked to decide the numbers of milk cows in order to make constant amounts of cheese production. Through such discussions, subjects understood the notion of eigenvalue and eigenvector. This study has following implications. First of all, the present research finds significance of situation model. A situation model is useful to promote learning of mathematical notions. Subjects learn the notion of eigenvalue and eigenvector through the situation model without difficulty. In addition, this research demonstrates potentials of small groups discussion. Learners participate in discussion more actively under small group debates. Such active interaction is necessary for situation model. Moreover, this study emphasizes the role of teachers by showing that patience and encouragement of teachers promote students' feeling of achievement. The role of teachers are also important in conveying a meaning of eigenvalue and eigenvector. Therefore, this study concludes that experience of learning the notion of eigenvalue and eigenvector thorough situation model is important for teachers in future.
