  • This paper describes an attempt to integrate flip teaching into a language classroom by adopting wikispaces as an online learning platform. The purpose of this study is to examine student perceptions of the effectiveness of using video lectures and wikispaces to foster active participation and collaborative learning. Flipped learning was implemented in an English writing class over one semester. Participants were 27 low intermediate level Korean university students. Data collection methods included background questionnaires at the beginning of the semester, learning experience questionnaires at the end of the semester, and semi-structured interviews with 6 focal participants. Because of the significance of video lectures in flip teaching, oCam was used for making weekly online lectures as a way of pre-class activities. Every week, online lectures were posted on the school LMS system (moodle). Every week, participants met in a computer room to perform in-class activities. Both in-class activities and post-class activities were managed by wikispaces. The results indicate that the flipped classroom facilitated student learning in the writing class. More than 53% of the respondents felt that it was useful to develop writing skills in a flipped classroom. Particularly, students felt that the video lectures prior to the class helped them improve their grammar skills. However, with respect to their satisfaction with collaborative works, about 44% of the participants responded positively. Similarly, 44% of the participants felt that in-class group work helped them interact with the other group members. Considering these results, this paper concludes with pedagogical suggestions and implications for further research.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in reported discharge learning needs between nurses and liver transplantation (LT) patients. Methods: The participants of this study were 40 patients discharged after LT at P University Hospital in Y City and 42 nurses in intensive care units and the ward. The data were collected for two months from December 1, 2012, to January 31, 2013, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Student's t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: Patients earning a low income (p=.041), having no experience of hospitalization after LT (p=.023), and receiving information about LT from nurses (p=.003) indicated higher discharge learning needs. Among the items evaluated regarding discharge learning needs, "rejection symptoms or signs" were regarded to be more important by nurses than LT patients (p=.038). However, "management of other diseases after LT" (p=.003), "risk of recurrence" (p=.001), "food choices" (p<.001), "obesity prevention" (p=.020), "amount of exercise" (p=.007), and "ways to receive financial help"(p=.033), were thought to be more important by LT patients than nurses. Conclusion: There exist differences between LT patients and nurses with respect to their perceptions of LT discharge learning needs. Therefore, an individualized education program reflecting patients' conditions and learning needs rather than providing information uniformly needs to be developed.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of learners' self-motivational attitudes, use of instructional function, and understanding of successful learning on achievement in college e-learning classes. The study analyzed 297 college students' questionnaire about their internet learning attitudes based on how they understand e-learning and use various internet functions for their learning achievement. After factor analyses, the results found that there were three major factors such as self-motivational attitude, use of instructional function, and understanding of successful learning out of 15 survey items. Multiple regression showed that the self-motivational factor affects the learning achievement with overall three factors analyses. This result indicates that college e-learning classes should focus on the analysis of learners' self-motivational issues in college e-learning classes. This study suggest that the relationship between learners' e-learning experience and learning achievement should be examined in the near future to show how it affects on learners e-learning class management and their achievement.

  • This study examined the constructivist perspective and the characteristics of informal learning in relation to work place learning of sports center leaders through a theoretical approach. For this reason, informal learning has important learning meaning because sports center leaders based on informal learning enable them to develop their professionalism through workplace learning in terms of experience and practice in promoting the process of growth and learning. Can be. In addition, the leaders in the sports center coaching sites lack formal learning opportunities in workplace learning compared to office workers in general companies. Therefore, the type of informal learning and the way to improve learning should be presented. This part is considered to be an educational element as an important factor for the professionalism of sports center leaders. In addition, the establishment of a workplace learning environment in personal, environmental, institutional and organizational aspects will help sports center leaders to increase their professionalism.

  • This study provided longitudinal examination of the Chinese learners' acquisition of the Korean vowels. Specifically the author examined whether Korean monophthongs are acquired rapidly in early stages of learning (Flege, Munro and Skelton, 1992; Munro and Derwing, 2008) or they develop rather gradually in proportion to the learners' experience (Byee, 2001; Ellis, 2006). This study collected the Korean vowel production by 23 Chinese learners for a year, and then analysed F1 and F2 of each Korean vowel. The results showed that 1) Most of the second language (L2) vowels were rapidly improved during the first six or nine months of Korean learning before reaching the constant stage; and 2) The exact acquisition trajectories varied across the seven vowels. Specifically the vowels which were acquired in the early stage of learning were /i, e, ɨ/ for F1 and /ʌ, e, o, u/ for F2. Thus this study supports the hypothesis of Flege et al. (1992) and Munro and Derwing (2008) except the fact that each vowel showed the different learning route.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide implications for designing and implementing non-face-to-face online classes at the College of Engineering in the post-corona era by analyzing the instructors' evaluations and experiences of non-face-to-face online classes operated in the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the overall evaluation results of non-face-to-face online classes from instructors at the College of Engineering, 'instructional design' was the highest among the five areas including instructional design, learning management, learning support, learning evaluation, and instructional outcomes. In addition, the effectiveness of non-face-to-face online experimental or practical classes was found to be relatively low. The results of this study imply that the instructors need to consider several instructional strategies such as active interaction with learners, clear explanation, and the use of technology in non-face-to-face online engineering classes.
