The authors have investigated the NVH problems of drive system in full vehicle test. However it is difficult to define the NVH problems of driveline system. Since it is hard to measure the rotating part and it is vague that only the drive system induces the NVH problem. Vibration in a driveline is presented in this paper. In the experiment, the rear sub-frame and propeller shafts and axle were composed and mounted with rubber each other. For applying the vibration input instead of the torsional vibration effect of an engine, the shaker was taken. In particular, torsional vibration due to fluctuating forced vibration excitation across the joint between driveline and rear sub-frame was carefully examined. Accordingly, the joint response was checked from experiments and the FE-simulation using FRF (frequency response function) analysis was performed. All test results were signal processed and validated against numerical simulations. In present study, the new test bench for measuring the vibration signal and simulating the vehicle chassis system was proposed. The modal value and the mode shape of components were analyzed using the CAE model to identify the important components affecting driveline noise and vibration. It could be reached that the simplified test bench could be well established and be used for design guide and development of the vehicle chassis components.

Structure behaviors resulting from an earthquake are experimentally simulated mainly through a shaking table test. As for large-scale structures, however, size effects over a miniature may make it difficult to assess actual behaviors properly. To address this problem, research on the hybrid simulation is being conducted actively. This method is to implement numerical analysis on framework members that affect the general behavior of the structure dominantly through an actual scale experiment and on the rest parts by applying the substructuring technique. However, existing studies on hybrid simulation focus mainly on Slow experimental methods, which are disadvantageous in that it is unable to assess behaviors close to the actual level if material properties change depending on the speed or the influence of inertial force is significant. The present study aims to establish a Real-time hybrid simulation system capable of excitation based on the actual time history and to verify its performance and applicability. The hybrid simulation system built up in this study utilizes the ATS Compensator system, CR integrator, etc. in order to make the target displacement the same with the measured displacement on the basis of MATLAB/Simulink. The target structure was a 2-span bridge and an RC pier to support it was produced as an experimental model in order for the shaking table test and Slow and Real-time hybrid simulations. Behaviors that result from the earthquake of El Centro were examined, and the results were analyzed comparatively. In comparison with the results of the shaking table test, the Real-time hybrid simulation produced more similar maximum displacement and vibration behaviors than the Slow hybrid simulation. Hence, it is thought that the Real-time hybrid simulation proposed in this study can be utilized usefully in seismic capacity assessment of structural systems such as RC pier that are highly non-linear and time-dependent.

Liquid storage tank is one of the major infrastructures and generally used to store gases, drinking and utilizing water, dangerous fluids, fire water and so on. According to the recent reports and experiences, the tank structures are damaged in many earthquakes due to their low energy dissipating capacity. Therefore, many researchers have been tried to know the dynamic properties of the tanks including liquids. However, vary limited experimental studies are carried out using relatively small tank models. In this study, a series of shaking table tests are performed with maximum 2 m cubic rectangular liquid storage tanks made of steel to measure the natural frequency and estimate damping coefficient of impulsive and convective mode of the tanks. Especially, the damping values under different shapes and excitation methods are estimated by logarithmic decrement method and half power band-pass method and compared with current design code and standards such as ASCE 7, Eurocode 8 and NZS. Test results show that the impulsive mode damping is around 2% which is proposed by general standards and codes but the impulsive mode damping is 0.13% average that is slightly lower than the code recommendation.

This paper presents the result of the aeroelastic stability test of the small-scaled hingeless hub system with composite paddle blades in hover and forward flight conditions. Excitation tests of hingeless hub system installed in GSRTS(General Small-scale Rotor Test System) at KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) were carried out to get lead-lag damping ratio of blades with flexures as hub flexure. MBA(Moving Block Analysis) technique was used for the estimation of lead-lag damping ratio. First, blades with metal flexures, then with composite flexures of the same dynamic properties of rotor system as metal one were tested. Tests were done on the ground and in the wind tunnel according to the test conditions of hover and forward flight, respectively. Composite flexures were found to have better damping characteristics over metal ones in the non-rotating vibration test, and it was confirmed that the use of composite flexures would give observable improvement in aeroelastic stability compared to metal ones in all test conditions.
In this paper, a new adaptive perceptual filter using variable threshold to enhance audio signals degraded by additively nonstationary noise is proposed. The adaptive perceptual filter updates variable threshold each time according to the power of signal and the effect of noise variation. So the noisy audio signal is enhanced by the method which controls a residual noise effectively. The proposed algorithm uses the perceptual filter which transforms a time domain signal into frequency domain and calculates an intensity energy and an excitation energy in bark domain. In this method. the stage updated the response of filter is decided by threshold. The proposed algorithm using vairable threshold effectively controls a residual noise using the energy difference of audio signals degraded by the additive nonstationary noise. The proposed method is tested with the noisy audio signals degraded by nonstationary noise at various signal -to-noise ratios (SNR). We carry out NMR and MOS test when the input SNR is 15dB. 20dB. 25dB and 30dB. An approximate improvement of 17.4dB. 15.3dB, 12.8dB. 9.8dB in NMR and enhancement of 2.9, 2.5, 2.3, 1.7 in MOS test is achieved with the input signals. respectively.
In this paper an intonation conversion method is presented which provides the basic study on converting the original speech into the artificially intoned one. This method employs the other speaker's excitation signals as intonation information and the original vocal tract spectra, which are warped with the other speaker's ones by using DTW. as vocal features, and intonation converted speech signals are synthesized through short-time inverse Fourier transform(STIFT) of their product. To evaluate the intonation converted speech by this method, we collect Korean single vowels and sentences spoken by 30 males and compare fundamental frequency contours spectrograms, distortion measures and MOS test between the original speech and the converted one. The result shows that this method can convert and speech into the intoned one of the other speaker's.

SRM drives generate large vibration and acoustic noise because it is rotated by step pulse mmf and switching commutation mechanism. The main vibration source of SRM drive is generated by rapidly variation of radial force when phase winding current is extinguished for commutation action. So the rapidly variation of radial force is repressed firstly to reduce vibrating force of SRM drive. This paper suggests an SRM excitation scheme using unidirect-short compensation winding to reduce vibration of the motor. The motor is excited by a two stage commutation method during commutation period. This paper suggests an SRM excitation scheme using unidirect-short compensation winding to reduce vibration of the motor. The motor is excited by a tow stage commutation method during commutation period. This reduction effect of vibration is verified with the result obtained in the test of prototype machine.

Multiple earthquakes that occur during short seismic intervals affect the inelastic behavior of the structures. Sequential ground motions against the single earthquake event cause the building structure to face loss in stiffness and its strength. Although, numerous research studies had been conducted in this research area but still significant limitations exist such as: 1) use of traditional design procedure which usually considers single seismic excitation; 2) selecting a seismic excitation data based on earthquake events occurred at another place and time. Therefore, it is important to study the effects of successive ground motions on the framed structures. The objective of this study is to overcome the aforementioned limitations through testing a two storey RC building structural model scaled down to 1/10 ratio through a similitude relation. The scaled model is examined using a shaking table. Thereafter, the experimental model results are validated with simulated results using ETABS software. The test framed specimen is subjected to sequential five artificial and four real-time earthquake motions. Dynamic response history analysis has been conducted to investigate the i) observed response and crack pattern; ii) maximum displacement; iii) residual displacement; iv) Interstorey drift ratio and damage limitation. The results of the study conclude that the low-rise building model has ability to resist successive artificial ground motion from its strength. Sequential artificial ground motions cause the framed structure to displace each storey twice in correlation with vary first artificial seismic vibration. The displacement parameters showed that real-time successive ground motions have a limited impact on the low-rise reinforced concrete model. The finding shows that traditional seismic design EC8 requires to reconsider the traditional design procedure.

The springing response of a large blunt ship was considered to be influenced by a second order interaction between the incoming irregular wave and the blunt geometry of the forebody of the ship. Little efforts have been made to simulate this complicated fluid-structure interaction phenomenon under irregular waves considering the second order effect; hence, the above mentioned premise still remains unproven. In this paper, efforts were made to quantify the second order effect between the wave and vibrating flexible ship structure by analyzing the experimental data obtained through the model basin test of the scaled-segmented model of a large blunt ship. To achieve this goal, the measured vertical bending moment and the wave elevation time history were analyzed using a higher order spectral analysis technique, where the quadratic interaction between the excitation and response was captured by the cross bispectrum of two randomly oscillating variables. The nonlinear response of the vibrating hull was expressed in terms of a quadratic Volterra series assuming that the wave excitation is Gaussian. The Volterra series was then orthogonalized using Barrett's procedure to remove the interference between the kernels of different orders. Both the linear and quadratic transfer functions of the given system were then derived based on a Fourier transform of the orthogonalized Volterra series. Finally, the response was decomposed into a linear and quadratic part to determine the contribution of the second order effect using the obtained linear and quadratic transfer functions of the system, combined with the given wave spectrum used in the experiment. The contribution of the second order effect on the springing response of the analyzed ship was almost comparable to the linear one in terms of its peak power near the resonance frequency.
A design of a Class-E inverter with only one inductor and one capacitor is presented. It is operated at the optimal operation mode for domestic cooker. The design principle is based on the zero-voltage derivative switching (ZVDS) of the Class-E inverter with a parallel load network, which is a parallel resonant equivalent circuit. An induction load characterization is obtained from a large-signal excitation test bench, which is the key to an accurate design of the induction cooker system. Consequently, the proposed scheme provides a more systematic, simple, accurate, and feasible solution than the conventional quasi-resonant inverter analysis based on series load network methodology. The derivative of the switch voltage is zero at the turn-on transition, and its absolute value is relatively small at the turn-off transition. Switching losses and noise are reduced. The parameters of the ZVDS Class-E inverter for the domestic induction cooker must be selected properly, and details of the design of the components of this Class-E inverter need to be addressed. A 1,200 W prototype is designed and evaluated to verify the validation of the proposed topology.
