This study was intended to identify fabric impact on decision-making process for clothing purchase, to determine evaluation factors of clothing, and to analyze consumer's preference for fabric on clothing purchase. 396 questionnaires distributed to college students were analyzed by descriptive statistics, oneway ANOVA, correlation, factor analysis and multidimensional scaling. The results are as follows; (1) Fabric impacted on the pre-purchase evaluation and the post-purchase process. (2) 4 factors - physical properties, outer-consciousness, self-satisfaction, and appropriateness- were determined as evaluation factors. Though fabric was included in the physical properties, fabric presented high correlations with other evaluative elements. (3) The most preferred fabric was being composed of natural fiber in fiber contents and having softness in sensation. As a result of multidimensional scaling, 2 dimensions of fabric sensation were developed as 'soft-hard'and 'thin-thick'.

The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a behaviorally anchored rating scale for peer evaluation in group projects based on social interdependence theory. A mixed method involving a qualitative and quantitative approach was used in this study. In the qualitative study, both the individual and group interviews were conducted to college students regarding their cooperative learning experiences. Data from this qualitative research was analyzed based on 5 elements of cooperative learning and 'critical incidents' were extracted from students' own voices that would serve as specific rating criteria in the scale. Once the 'critical incidents' have been incorporated into the scale, validation from 3 independent experts was conducted. In the quantitative study, correlations with relevant variables were analyzed to examine the criteria-referenced validity. Findings suggest that the behaviorally anchored rating scale for peer evaluation in group projects can be used in various team-based learning contexts.
Background: The evaluation of individual renal function is important to diagnosis and follow-up of various diseases. Ureteral catheterization of each kidney has been widely used for this purpose, but this method had some technical difficulty, frequent complications and much restriction in reapplication. Therefore we tried to applicate radiopharmaceuticals for the evaluation of individual renal function. Methods: We measured 2 hour, 4 hour and 24 hour relative renal uptake of $^{99m}Tc-DMSA$ and relative glomerular filteration rate of $^{99m}Tc-DTPA$ with 59 patients with various renal diseases to determine their usefulness for assessment of individual renal function and to compare correlations between every renal uptake of $^{99m}Tc-DMSA$ and relative glomerular filteration rate. Results: The correlations between 2 hour-, 4 hour- and 24 hour- relative renal uptake of $^{99m}Tc-DMSA$ and relative glomerular filteration rate of $^{99m}Tc-DTPA$ were R=0.9190 (p < 0.001), R: 0.9229 (p<0.001) and R=0.9917 (p<0.001). In acute obstructive uropathy, the correlations at 2 hour and 4 houre were poor as R=0.1812 (p<0.05) and R=0.4923 (p < 0.05), but the correlation at 24 hour was good as R=0.9942 (p<0.001). Conclusions: We concluded that relative renal uptake at 2 hour and 4 hour had good correlation with relative DTPA uptake ratio in the cases without chronic renal failure and obstructive uropathy. Delayed image with 24 hour relative renal uptake $^{99m}Tc-DTPA$ had the best correlation with relative glomerular filteration rate of $^{99m}Tc-DTPA$ and that might be useful in evaluation of chronic renal disease in which showed increased beckground activity or acute obstructive uropathy.
Mathematical basis of interpretation of data from nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods in bridge inspection is presented. In bridge inspection with NDE methods, NDE data are not assessments. NDE data must be interpreted as condition of element. Interpretation is then assessment. Correct assessments of conditions of bridge elements depend on the accuracy and variability in test data as well as on the uncertainty of correlations between attributes (what is measured) and conditions (what is sought in the inspection). Inaccuracy and variability in test data defines the qualify or NDE test. The qualify or test itself is important, but in view of condition assessment, the significance of uncertainty in correlations of attributes and conditions must be combined. NDE methods that are accurate in their measurements may still be found to be poor methods if attributes are uncertain indicators of condition of bridge elements. This paper reports mathematical presentation of inaccuracy and variability in test data and of uncertainty in correlation of attributes to element conditions with three examples of NDE methods.
The purpose of this study was to develop a scale for evaluation of preschool children's peer competence and to examine its validity and reliability. The 15 items of the preliminary scale were completed by teachers, and peer rating scale for assessment of peer acceptance was administered to 365 children 5 to 6 years of age. The methods for data analysis included item analysis, factor analysis for construct validity, Pearson correlations between teacher's ratings of peer competence and children's ratings of peer acceptance for concurrent validity, and Cronbach's u for reliability. The 15 items of the scathe were found be satisfactory in terms of item response distribution and item discrimination. Factor analysis revealed that a 3-factor solution was the best fit: sociability, prosocial behavior, leadership in peer relations. Correlations between teacher's ratings and children's ratings were as significant. Cronbach'so ranged from .88 to .93 for three subscales and .93 for the total scale. It was concluded that the psychometric properties of the peer competence scale in general were acceptable for use.
Noodle texture parameters of Korean style wet and dry noodles and relationships between noodle quality and flour characteristics were evaluated for two years, 1997 and 1998, and at two locations, Suwon and Deokso, using Korean winter wheat cultivars and lines. No significant difference for chewiness was found between cultivars over locations. Noodles made from flours from 1997 showed significantly higher chewiness than those from 1998. Chewiness of cooked noodles showed positively significant correlations with protein content and SDS sedimentation volume and negatively significant correlations with starch peak viscosity and flour swelling volume. Korean winter wheat cultivars, except for Gobunmil, Keumkangmil Tapdongmil, Suwon 265 and Suwon 280, showed chewiness of cooked noodles similar to commercial flours used for noodle making in Korea and Japan.
This study aimed to develop an observation scale for assessing the quality of day care programs and to examine reliability and validity of the scale. Instruments included 3 self-assessment scales, the Evaluation Scale for Early Childhood Programs and an observation scale completed by 8 trained observers in 89 day care sites. Item analysis indicated that most items were acceptable in terms of item discrimination and item response distribution. Cronbach ${\alpha}^{\prime}s$ and inter-observer reliability were relatively high. Validity of the scale was evidenced by correlations between the observation scale and the criterion measure and inter-correlations among sub-areas of the observation scale. Scores on the observation scale were validated by quality ratings from self-assessment scores.

High-rise buildings constructed adjacent to low-rise structures experience frequent damage caused by the associated strong wind. This study aimed to implement a standard evaluation of the wind environment and airflow characteristics around high-rise apartment blocks using wind tunnel tests (WTT) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. The correlation coefficient between the CFD and wind tunnel results ranged between 0.6-0.8. Correlations below 0.8 were due to differences in the wake flow area range generated behind the target building according to wind direction angle and the effect of the surrounding buildings. In addition, a difference was observed between the average velocity ratio of the wake flow wind measured by the WTT and by the CFD analysis. The wind velocity values of the CFD analysis were therefore compensated, and, consequently, the correlations for most wind angles increased.
Participants in this study of the validity and reliability of PIPPS (Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale; Fantuzzo et al., 1998) for Korean children were 248 5-to 6-year - old children and 11 teachers. Instruments included the Peer Rating Scale(PRS; Singleton et al., 1979), Social Competence and Behavior Evaluation (SCBE; LaFreniere & Dumas, 1995), and Preschool Behavior Questionnaire (PBQ; Behar & Stringfield, 1974). The structure of PIPPS resulted in 3 factors, 'play disruption', 'play interaction', and 'play disconnection' with 30 items similar to the original PIPPS factors. Validity was evidenced by inter-correlations among sub-factors and by correlations between PIPPS and criterion measures. PIPPS scores were validated by ratings from PRS, SCBE and PBQ sub-areas scores. Cronbach's a reliability of PIPPS factors ranged from .88 to .92.
