  • This study used a preliminary survey to help develop an ergonomic flight jacket that is suitable for the working environment and mission performance. The results are as follows. The ergonomic sleeve pattern was designed with a forward 165° incline that considers a shoulder joint direction suitable for the motion; in addition, a closely design opening provided warmth and safety from fire. As a result of the dimensional suitability, pilots evaluated that sleeve length and total length of the developed flight jacket were a little long (p<.01), while flight engineers and crew evaluated that those of the developed flight jacket were appropriate (p<.01). Pilots evaluated that chest circumference and waist circumference were large (p<.05), while flight engineers and crews evaluated that those of the developed flight jacket were appropriate. The evaluation of the motion suitability indicated that pilots, flight engineers and crew found the developed flight jacket more comfortable than the current flight jacket (p<.05, p<.01, p<.001). The evaluation of the usability of pockets and penholders indicated that pilots, flight engineers and crew found the developed jacket easier to use (p<.01). The flight engineers and crew evaluated that the appearance of the developed flight jacket was better than the current flight jacket (p<.05). The results of this study show that the difference of environment and mission performance has a significant influence on evaluation; therefore, it is necessary to develop separate military uniforms that included a winter flight jacket to reflect the needs of each group.

  • Objectives : Fine dust caused by environmental pollution cause oxidative damage and skin aging. In this study, The possibility of using the Codium fragile extract (CFE) as an anti-aging product for skin improvement was evaluated by confirming the protective effect of skin cells from PM10 (particulate matter 10) through inhibition of ROS and MMPs. Methods : In this study, elastase and collagenase inhibitory activities were evaluated. Cell viability was evaluated by treating keratinocytes (HaCaT cell line) with CFE at various concentrations. The cytoprotective effect from PM10 in keratinocyteswas evaluated using the 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol]-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyl-tetrazoliumbromide (MTT) assay. ROS (reactive oxygen species) was measured in keratinocytes damaged by PM10 using DCF-DA (2′,7′-dichlorofluorescin diacetate) fluorescence staining. As an anti-aging effect of CFE, MMP-1 (matrix metalloproteinase-1) and MMP-1 (matrix metalloproteinase-9) inhibitory activities were evaluated. Results : As a result, CFE decreased the activity of elastase and collagenase. As a result of evaluating the toxicity of CFE, it is non-toxic at a concentration of 10 to 80 ㎍/㎖. Although cell viability of HaCaT cells treated with PM10 decreased, cell viability increased by 38% when treated with CFE 80 ㎍/㎖. Also, ROS decreased by 8.4%, and MMP-1 and MMP-9 decreased at CFE 80 ㎍/㎖. Conclusions : CFE showed excellent cell protection effect, and it is considered that it can be used in anti-aging products for skin improvement by effectively inhibiting ROS and MMPs from keratinocyte damage caused by fine dust.

  • In the present work, vibration control performance of active camera mount system for unmanned aero vehicle (UAV) is evaluated. An active mount featuring inertia type of piezostack actuator is designed and manufactured. Then, vibration control performances are experimentally evaluated. A camera mount system with four active mounts is constructed and mechanical model is established. The governing equation for the camera mount system is obtained and control model is constructed in state space model. Sliding mode controller which has inherent robustness to external disturbance is designed and implemented to the system. Vibration control performances are evaluated at each mount and center of gravity point. Effective vibration performances are obtained and presented in time and frequency domains.

  • $^{237}Np$ is very important material in the fission products of nuclear reactors. Resonance integral(RI) tests of this material is necessary to check between the experiments and the evaluated data. Such feedback to the evaluated data is very important to correct data and improve of codes. The RI for the $^{237}Np(n,{\gamma})^{238}Np$ reaction were measured by using the 46-MeV electron linear accelerator (linac) at the Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto University (KURRI). The measurement was performed in the energy region from 0.005 eV and 10 keV. RI obtained as 804.7 barns, compared with those of the evaluated data in JENDL-4.0 and Mughabghab.

  • Shark skin has functionalities such as self-cleaning and antifouling; it also exhibits excellent drag reduction owing to a hierarchical structure of microgrooves and nanometer-long chain mucus drag reduction interfaces around the shark body. In this study, the wettability of a shark skin surface and its replicas are evaluated. First, a shark skin template is taken from a real shark. Then, shark skin replicas are produced directly from a shark skin template, using a micromolding technique. The quantitative replication precision of the shark skin replicas is evaluated by comparing the geometry of the shark skin template to the replica using 2D surface profiles. Contact angles at the solid-air-water interfaces are evaluated for the shark skin template and its replicas under two conditions: with and without hydrophobic coating. The results show that the microriblets on shark skin improve the hydrophobic feature and play a critical role in self-cleaning.

  • In this paper the failure of Carsington Dam was discussed based on the informations reported in the first edition of Korean Geotechnical Society News. The causes of dam failure and its influences were evaluated based on the results of the slope stability analysis. The effects of the shear strain pre-existing in the yellow clay disclosed by the post-failure site investigation and the progressive nature of the dam failure were preponderantly evaluated. Stability analysis was performed based on the proposed values of strength parameters characterizing possible field ground conditions at failure. The calculated safety factors were evaluated for different cases of strength parameters in order to find the most probable field ground condition at the dam failue.

  • For a given soil-contaminated site, a level of soil contamination is characterized and decisions on risk may be made from the risk assessment. The study evaluated critical design factors for the determination of sample size in the sampling design plan and the assessment of soil contaminant- leaching to groundwater. Two variables, the minimum relative detectable difference (T) and coefficient of variation (CV) were evaluated for the sample size determination. The minimum number of samples can be appropriately determined by CV under a T value greater than or equal to 0.2. Soil-contaminant leaching to groundwater was evaluated by using the Soil Screening Level equation of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Risk Based Screening Level equation of American Society for Testing and Materials, with the same input parameters. The groundwater concentrations estimated from soil contaminant concentrations were significantly affected by the Darcy velocity of groundwater and the organic content of soil.

  • This study performed to evaluated musculoskeletal disorders(MSDs) during sitting work. The musculskeletal system is affected by various work factors such as strength, weight, posture, repetition, duration and exertion. Ergonomic study on sitting work is necessary to evaluate these factors affecting human body. But the strength and work load data by the work factors are insufficient in Korea. Therefore, this study evaluated the work load using the elcctromyogram(EMG) and measured the arm strength by arm posture and push pull work during sitting work. to evaluated muscle load, the vertical height and horizontal angle of arm were adjusted around acromion. And EMG data were recorded on pc during the test.

  • We study of the variation on non-uniform plasma in different layer of the semiconductor. The transient response in different plasma layer has been evaluated theoretically. The reflection function of dielectric microstrip lines resulting from the presence of plasma are evaluated by the transmission line model. The diffusion length is small compared to the absorption depth. The variation of characteristic response in plasma layer with microwave pulses which has in localized has been evaluated.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve productivity of architectural space planning(A.S.P,) by computer system and to optimize ASP. A searching algorithm is the best way to slave optimized A.S.P. Because architectural design is too many various site situations and client's demands to specify the general solving methods. This method seek the best design case in all possibility and to be modeled as this; $\rightarrow$[$\rightarrow$$\rightarrow$
