This study analyses how much Korean visits to North Korea have an impact on the North Korean regional economy. It estimates the demand for North Korean tourism via the borders of North Korea, China, and Russia and South Korean expenses to be spent in North Korea. When asked if they are willing to visit North Korea within the next five years in case the pre-conditions of the visit to North Korea are satisfied, approximately 64.1% of the survey respondents indicated 'yes'. To estimate the demand, this research employed the analysis of purchase intention, popular in marketing, based on their willingness to visit. The annual demand for tourism was 4,136,361 persons. The average estimated expense per person is KRW 1,532,000 and the total annual expense is KRW 6,336.9 billion. Assuming that airfare is excluded from the total expense and the expense is made evenly in each tourist destination, the estimated amount to be spent in North Korea is KRW 2,838.7 billion per annum. The backward linkage effect of this expense on the North Korean regional economy is KRW 7,972.1 billion in total production inducement, KRW 2,619.4 billion in value-added inducement, and approximately 2,890,443 persons in employment inducement. The value-added inducement effect is estimated to be approximately 7.6% of the North Korean nominal GDP in 2020. South Korean tourism is expected to have a significant impact on the North Korean economy. As the demand for North Korean tourism is likely to increase steadily due to the expected increase in overseas travel demand by Koreans, inter-Korean cooperation is needed for the development of North Korean tourism infrastructure if conditions improve.
This paper estimates the export losses of the Korean domestic automobile industry due to US trade pressure and its economic ripple effects. Using the HS 6 digit tariff and export data from 2010 to 2017, this paper estimates the tariff elasticity of Korea's US automobile exports against a US tariff increase by applying the Poisson Pseudo maximum likelihood estimation method. After estimating Korea's export losses to the US in three trade pressure scenarios, we estimate its impact on Korean domestic production, value-added and job creation by applying the tariff impact accumulation model based on the industry input-output analysis. Empirical results show that the impact of 25% global tariff by the US on the Korean domestic economy is estimated to result in $30.8 billion in export losses for the five years from 2019 to 2023, about 300 thousand job losses, 88.0 trillion in production inducement losses, and 24.0 trillion in value-added inducement losses. The impacts of withdrawal of the automobile tariff concession are estimated at $4.27 billion export losses and 41.7 thousand job losses. A 15% tariff rate on automobile parts for 3 years is estimated to result in $1.93 billion export losses and 18.7 thousand job losses.
Response surface methodology (RSM) was used for analyzing the manufacturing process of Prunus mume extract-added vinegared red pepper paste (maesil chokochujang) with respect to sensory quality properties. Experiments were carried out according to a central composite design, selecting the amount of kochujang, amount of maesil extract, and type of sugar in the mixture as independent variables; sensory attributes such as flavor, taste, color, and mouthfeel viscosity as response variables. The polynomial models developed by RSM for sensory color and mouthfeel viscosity were highly effective to describe the relationships between the factors studied and the responses. The estimated response surfaces confirmed that the amount of kochujang had a positive effect on color (p<0.001) whereas the amount of maesil extract had a positive effect on mouthfeel viscosity (p<0.001). Increase in the amount of kochujang led to a sharp increase of the sensory score on color at all the maesil extract and sugar type levels. On the other hand, increase in the amount of maesil extract caused a sharp increase in the mouthfeel viscosity value regardless of kochujang concentration and type of sugar. The differences among samples made with different types of sugar were not significant (p>0.05).
The effects of Crataegus pinnatifida bunge powder(CP) on dough characteristics and bread quality were evaluated. Breads were prepared with the addition of 0, 3, 6 and 9% CP to the basic formulation. The pH of dough added with CP ranged from 5.26 to 5.34, while control dough had a pH of 5.80. The loaf volume index of bread prepared with $3{\sim}9%$ CP decreased by $5.4{\sim}16.9%$ Hardness increased with the addition of CP, but the cohesiveness and springiness decreased with the addition of 3 and 6% CP and increased with the addition of 9% CP. Color L value of the bread crust and crumb decreased with CP and color a and b values of the bread crumb increased with CP. The sensory quality of bread with 6 or 9% Crataegus pinnatifida bunge powder, as estimated by shape, flavor and overall quality, was worse than that of control bread, while bread with 3% Crataegus pinnatifida bungs powder had the best quality.
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of green area in apartment complexes to variation of temperature. The inside temperature of each site was estimated by analyzing Landsat ETM+ image data. The factors on variation of temperature were landcover type, building density, and Normalised Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI). The results of correlation between inside temperature of apartment complex and land cover type showed that the green area ratio had negative(-) correlation and impermeable pavement ratio had positive(+) correlation. Building-to-land ratio was not significant with inside temperature. A coefficient of correlation between the temperature value and the value of permeable pavement ratio added up green area ratio was higher than a coefficient of correlation between the temperature value and the value of permeable pavement ratio added up impermeable pavement ratio. Thus we may define that permeable pavement area decrease urban temperature with green area in apartment complex. Floor area ratio had no significant correlation with inside temperature. Inside temperature was decreased as the NDVI was increased. To establish the temperature distribution model in a development apartment complex, As the result of regression analysis between inside temperature as dependent variable and permeable pave ratio+green area ratio, green area ratio, building-to-land ratio and NDIT as independent variables, only permeable pavement ratio added up green area ratio of the independent variables was accepted fur regression equation in both two seasons and adjusted coefficient of determination was 41.4 on September, 2000 and 40.4 on June,2001.
Objective: The objective of this study was to determine internal structure spectral profile of by-products from coffee processing that were affected by added-microorganism fermentation duration in relation to truly absorbed feed nutrient supply in ruminant system. Methods: The by-products from coffee processing were fermented using commercial fermentation product, consisting of various microorganisms: for 0 (control), 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. In this study, carbohydrate-related spectral profiles of coffee by-products were correlated with their chemical and nutritional properties (chemical composition, total digestible nutrient, bioenergy values, carbohydrate sub-fractions and predicted degradation and digestion parameters as well as milk value of feed). The vibrational spectra of coffee by-products samples after fermentation for 0 (control), 7, 14, 21, and 28 days were determined using a JASCO FT/IR-4200 spectroscopy coupled with accessory of attenuated total reflectance (ATR). The molecular spectral analyses with univariate approach were conducted with the OMNIC 7.3 software. Results: Molecular spectral analysis parameters in fermented and non-fermented by-products from coffee processing included structural carbohydrate, cellulosic compounds, non-structural carbohydrates, lignin compound, CH-bending, structural carbohydrate peak1, structural carbohydrate peak2, structural carbohydrate peak3, hemicellulosic compound, non-structural carbohydrate peak1, non-structural carbohydrate peak2, non-structural carbohydrate peak3. The study results show that added-microorganism fermentation induced chemical and nutritional changes of coffee by-products including carbohydrate chemical composition profiles, bioenergy value, feed milk value, carbohydrate subfractions, estimated degradable and undegradable fractions in the rumen, and intestinal digested nutrient supply in ruminant system. Conclusion: In conclusion, carbohydrate nutrition value changes by added-microorganism fermentation duration were in an agreement with the change of their spectral profile in the coffee by-products. The studies show that the vibrational ATR-FT/IR spectroscopic technique could be applied as a rapid analytical tool to evaluate fermented by-products and connect with truly digestible carbohydrate supply in ruminant system.
Dairy processing experience tourism, that combines production, processing, and services, can be a good alternative to increase added value in Mongolian livestock industry. In addition, in order to successfully pursue this, it is necessary to first identify consumers' potential demand for the experience tourism and the factors affecting demand. Accordingly, this study estimated consumers' potential demand for dairy processing experience tourism using data from 758 people obtained through an online survey targeting Ulaanbaatar residents. As a result of the estimation, it was found that the variables that affect potential demand are the experience fees, average monthly household income, gender, age, arol consumption, and education level. The potential demand for dairy processing experience tourism was measured by multiplying the population of Ulaanbaatar by the estimated probability of accepting the experience tourism, and the total revenue was maximum at 32.303 million Tuk when the experience fee was 50,000 Tuk. The implications based on the analysis results are that, in order to promote participation in the experience tourism, it is necessary to promote it primarily to people with high average monthly household income, high level of education, younger age groups, and male. It can be said that preference is high and sufficient potential demand exists, but it is suggested that appropriate setting of experience fees is important.
This study is aimed at identifying the socio-economic value of the total area of 23,500ha of paddy field which will be reclaimed in year 2003. In Korea, tidal land reclamation projects has been carried out not only for paddy field expansion to meet national food security but also for national land expansion to cope with the shortage of land supply in implementing urbanization and industrialization. As of end of 1999, 75,738ha of tidal land reclamation, 48.3%, out of 156,666ha has been carried out in Korea. In spite of continuous implementation of tidal land reclamation, 48.3%, out of 156,666ha has been carried out in Korea. In spite of continuous implementation of tidal land reclamation projects, the appraisal of the national land expansion value has not been made even though the severe competitiveness of land use in economic development. Agricultural land about 20,000 - 30,000ha per year has been converted to urban and industrial land and the converted areas have been produced higher added value than that of the farm land. Accordingly, farm land expansion equivalent to the converted area have to be reclaimed to cope with the food shortage and security in the future. In relation to the study, demand and supply of rice, the staple food of Korean, has been projected up to year 2025. The study results are as follows: 1. Under the assumption of continuing the present tendencies of rice consumption, population increase, farming practices and farm land conversion, paddy area requirement to meet self sufficiency of rice were forecasted as 136,950ha in 2015, 193,460ha in 2020 and 218,482ha in 2025 respectively. 2. The average converted price of paddy per pyeong in Kimje city, Puna Gun and Gunsan city was estimated at 241,150won and average farm land price was amounted to 63,760won. The differential rent was estimated at 177,400won per pyeong which was used as a criteria for valuation of national land expansion effect of the tidal land reclaimed by Saemangeum project. The total land rent of 23,250ha expanded by tidal land reclamation was amounted to 12,361 billion won. Annual expected value of the expanded national land was estimated at 988.9 billion won considering 8% of annual discount rate in Korea. 3. Tidal land resource for paddy area development is limited comparing with the future requirement of paddy area to cope with self sufficiency of rice consumption. Accordingly farm land conversion to urban and industrial land should be regulated and protected in the sense of sustainable development in the future.

This study proposes the accurate economic effect (employment inducement coefficient, hiring inducement coefficient, index of the sensitivity of dispersion, index of the power of dispersion, and ratio of value added) of Korea software industry by analyzing the inter-industry relation using the modified inter-industry table. Some previous studies related to the inter-industry analysis were reviewed and the key problems were identified. First, in the current inter-industry table publishedby the Bank of Korea, the output of software industry includes not only the output of pure software industry (package software and IT services) but also the output of non-software industry due to the misclassification of the industry. This causes the output to become bigger than the actual output of the software industry. Second, during rewriting the inter-industry table, the output is changing. The inter-industry table is the table in the form of rows and columns, which records the transactions of goods and services among industries which are required to continue the activities of each industry. Accordingly, if only an output of a specific industry is changed, the reliability of the table would be degraded because the table is prepared based on the relations with other industries. This possibly causes the economic effect coefficient to degrade reliability, over or under estimated. This study tries to correct these problems to get the more accurate economic effect of the software industry. First, to get the output of the pure software section only, the data from the Korea Electronics Association(KEA) was used in the inter-industry table. Second, to prevent the difference in the outputs during rewriting the inter-industry table, the difference between the output in the current inter-industry table and the output from KEA data was identified and then it was defined as the non-software section output for the analysis. The following results were obtained: The pure software section's economic effect coefficient was lower than the coefficient of non-software section. It comes from differenceof data to Bank of Korea and KEA. This study hasa signification from accurate economic effect of Korea software industry.
This study was performed to investigate the quality characteristics of Yanggeng added wild grape (Vitis amurensis) juice. The yanggeng was prepared with pesticide-free wild grape juice, agar, sugar and salt. The yanggeng was made with various levels (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 g of wild grape juice in yanggeng, respectively) based on the total weight of water. It was estimated on Hunter's color value, texture profile analysis, and sensory characteristics of the Yanggeng. As the content of wild grape juice increased, The lightness (L) and yellowness (b) decreased and redness (a) increased. In texture profile analysis, hardness was increased; however, springiness, cohesiveness, gumminess and chewiness decreased with increasing levels of wild grape juice. The results of the sensory evaluation indicated that the Yanggeng containing the 150 g level of wild grape juice showed the highest preference scores in terms of color, taste, texture, flavor and overall acceptance. These results show that the yanggeng containing 150 g of wild grape juice is the better.
