Comparison of Automatic Calibration for a Tank Model with Optimization Methods and Objective Functions

  • Two global optimization methods, the SCE-UA method and the Annealing-simplex (A-S) method for calibrating a daily rainfall-runoff model, a Tank model, was compared with that of the Downhill Simplex method. The performance of the four objective functions, DRMS (daily root mean square), HMLE (heteroscedastic maximum likelihood estimator), ABSERR (mean absolute error), and NS (Nash-Sutcliffe measure), was tested and synthetic data and historical data were used. In synthetic data study. 100% success rates for all objective functions were obtained from the A-S method, and the SCE-UA method was also consistently able to obtain good estimates. The downhill simplex method was unable to escape from local optimum, the worst among the methods, and converged to the true values only when the initial guess was close to the true values. In the historical data study, the A-S method and the SCE-UA method showed consistently good results regardless of objective function. An objective function was developed with combination of DRMS and NS, which putted more weight on the low flows.

  • 본 논문은 NHPP 소프트웨어 신뢰성모형에서 모수추정과 고장시간에 대한 예측을 다루고자 한다. 소프트웨어 신뢰성모형 Goel-Okumoto모형에서 평균값 함수에 대한 최우추정과 경험적 사전분포를 가정한 공액사전분포에서 베이지안 추정을 다루었다. 실제 자료에서 두 가지 추정법에 의한 모수 추정값을 제공하였으며, 모형의 적합성을 판정하고, 고장수에 대한 예측값을 비교하였다.

  • This paper provides an efficient model predictive control for the output voltage control of three-phase inverter system which includes output LC filters. Use of SVPWM (Space Vector Pulse-Width-Modulation) and the rotating d-q frame is made to obtain an input constrained dynamic model of the inverter system. From the measured/estimated output current and reference output voltage, corresponding equilibrium values of the inductor current and the control input are computed. Derivation of a feasible and invariant set around the equilibrium state is made and then a receding horizon strategy which steers the current state deep into the invariant set is proposed. In order to remove offset error, use of disturbance observer is made in the form of state estimator. The efficacy of the proposed method is verified through simulations.

가상 구역 방법을 이용한 이동체 위치 추정 (Mobile Location Estimation Scheme Based on Virtual Area Concept)

  • 마이크로셀 구조에서 효율적으로 핸드오프와 채널 할당을 수행하기 위하여 이동체의 위치 및 속도를 추정 하는 것이 중요한 문제로 대두되고 있다. 이전 연구에서, 마이크로셀 환경에서 응용할 수 있는 이동체의 위치 추정 방법을 제안했다. 제안된 방법은 탐색 지역을 단계적으로 좁혀서 이동체가 위치한 지역을 결정하는 3단계 위치 추정 방법에 근거한다. 3단계 위치 추정 방법을 사용하여, 섹터 추정 단계에서 섹터를 추정하고, 트랙 추정 단계에서는 트랙을, 최종적으로 블럭 추정 단계에서 이동체가 위치한 블럭을 추정한다. 그러나 이 방법은 이동체가 섹터나 트랙의 경계 지점에 위치할 경우 추정의 정확도가 감소되는 문제점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 가상구역 개념을 이용하여, 경계 지역에 있는 이동체에 대한 추정 오류율을 줄일 수 있는 위치추정 방법을 제안한다.

Multinomial Group Testing with Small-Sized Pools and Application to California HIV Data: Bayesian and Bootstrap Approaches

  • This paper consider multinomial group testing which is concerned with classification each of N given units into one of k disjoint categories. In this paper, we propose exact Bayesian, approximate Bayesian, bootstrap methods for estimating individual category proportions using the multinomial group testing model proposed by Bar-Lev et al (2005). By the comparison of Mcan Squre Error (MSE), it is shown that the exact Bayesian method has a bettor efficiency and consistency than maximum likelihood method. We suggest an approximate Bayesian approach using Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) for posterior computation. We derive exact credible intervals based on the exact Bayesian estimators and present confidence intervals using the bootstrap and MCMC. These intervals arc shown to often have better coverage properties and similar mean lengths to maximum likelihood method already available. Furthermore the proposed models are illustrated using data from a HIV blooding test study throughout California, 2000.

  • This paper proposes a new call admission control scheme utilizing an inverse fuzzy vector quantizer(IFVQ) and neural net, which combines benefits of IFVQ and flexibilities of FCM(Fuzzy-C-Menas) arithmatics, to decide whether a requested call that is not trained in learning phase to be connected or not. The system generates the estimated traffic pattern of the cell stream of a new call, using feasible/infeasible patterns in codebook, fuzzy membership values that represent the degree to which each pattern of codebook matches input pattern, and FCM arithmatics. The input to the NN is the vector consisted of traffic parameters which is the means and variances of the number of cells arriving inthe interval. After training(using error back propagation algorithm), when the NN is used for decision making, the decision as to whether to accept or reject a new call depends on whether the output is greater or less then decision threshold(+0.5). This method is a new technique for call admi sion control using the membership values as traffic parameter which declared to CAC at the call set up stage, and is valid for a very general traffic model in which the calls of a stream can belong to an unlimited number of traffic classes. Through the simmulation. it is founded the performance of the suggested method outforms compared to the conventional NN method.

  • 본 논문에서는 Orthogonal frequency division multiplexting(OFDM) 시스템의 성능 향상을 위해 파일럿 심볼을 이용한 향상된 채널추정 알고리즘을 제안한다. 기존의 LMMSE 알고리즘을 이용한 채널추정 방법은 파일럿 심볼만을 채널추정에 이용함으로써 파일럿 심볼 간격이 멀어짐에 따라 성능이 현저하게 떨어지는 단점이 있다. 이런 문제를 해결하기 위해 파일럿 심볼 사이의 채널을 선 추정하고 이 추정된 값을 다시 파일럿 심볼과 함께 이용하여 채널을 추정하는 채널추정기법을 제안하였다. 제안된 추정기법은 도플러 주파수가 36Hz에서 185Hz인 페이딩 채널환경에 적용했다. 기존의 LMMSE 추정기법과 비교했을 때 특히 큰 도플러 주파수에 대해 강건한 특성을 보였다.

A Novel Sensorless Low Speed Vector Control for Synchronous Reluctance Motors Using a Block Pulse Function-Based Parameter Identification

  • Recently, speed sensorless vector control for synchronous reluctance motors (SYRMs) has deserved attention because of its advantages. Although rotor angle calculation using flux estimation is a straightforward approach, the DC offset can cause an increasing pure integrator error in this estimator. In addition, this method is affected by parameter fluctuation. In this paper, to control the motor at the low speed region, a modified programmable cascaded low pass filter (MPCPLF) with sensorless online parameter identification based on a block pulse function is proposed. The use of the MPCLPF is suggested because in programmable, cascade low pass filters (PCLPF), which previously have been applied to induction motors, the drift increases vastly wl)en motor speed decreases. Parameter identification is also used because it does not depend on estimation accuracy and can solve parameter fluctuation effects. Thus, sensorless speed control in the low speed region is possible. The experimental system includes a PC-based control with real time Linux and an ALTERA Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD), to acquire data from sensors and to send commands to the system. The experimental results show the proposed method performs well, speed and angle estimation are correct. Also, parameter identification and sensorless vector control are achieved at low speed, as well as, as at high speed.

  • This paper described the estimator and eliminator far three kinds of artifacts in electrocardiogram. The most efficient estimation of baseline drift could be obtain in the cubic spline interpolation method with the PQ and TP segment which are considered to be isoelectric, from the experimental results obtained from the applied 4 types of algorithms. The time loss and distortion could be avoided with the aid of detection criteria by checking if baseline drifts exist or not. The AIEF proposed in this paper was verified as having the best removal performance with less distortion in the QRS complex through the comparison of 5 proposed algorithms. furthermore, the AIEF are most suitable far the ECG analyzer which was only needed relatively short time data due to the fast conversion into the stable state. The proposed parabolic filter with 11 points width was identified as having the best performance for the elimination of muscle artifacts. Also we could obtain 99.7% detection accuracy of spike component and minimize the error identifying QRS complex as spike.

Performance Evaluation of Pilotless Channel Estimation with Limited Number of Data Symbols in Frequency Selective Channel

  • In a wireless mobile communication system, a pilot signal has been considered to be a necessary signal for estimating a changing channel between a base station and a terminal. All mobile communication systems developed so far have a specification for transmitting pilot signals. However, although the pilot signal transmission is easy to estimate the channel,(Ed: unclear wording: it is easy to use the pilot signal transmission to estimate the channel?) it should be minimized because it uses radio resources for data transmission. In this paper, we propose a pilotless channel estimation scheme (PCE) by introducing the clustering method of unsupervised learning used in our deep learning into channel estimation.(Ed: highlight- unclear) The PCE estimates the channel using only the data symbols without using the pilot signal at all. Also, to apply PCE to a real system, we evaluated the performance of PCE based on the resource block (RB), which is a resource allocation unit used in LTE. According to the results of this study, the PCE always provides a better mean square error (MSE) performance than the least square estimator using pilots, although it does not use the pilot signal at all. The MSE performance of the PCE is affected by the number of data symbols used and the frequency selectivity of the channel. In this paper, we provide simulation results considering various effects(Ed: unclear, clarify).
