Anti-inflammatory Effect of Branches Extracts from Quercus mongolica in LPS-induced RAW264.7 Cells

  • Quercus mongolica (QM), which belongs to fagaceae, is one of the oak native to Korea. We evaluated the anti-inflammatory effect of branches extracted with 70% ethanol of QM (QM-B) and elucidated the potential signaling pathway in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. The QM-B showed anti-inflammatory activity through inhibition of NO production. The QM-B dose-dependently suppressed NO production by inhibiting iNOS, COX-2 and IL-6 expression in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. The QM-B inhibited the degradation and phosphorylation of IκB-α and NF-κB activation. The QM-B suppressed the phosphorylation of p38 and ERK1/2. Also, the QM-B increased HO-1 expression. These results suggested that QM-B may utilize anti-inflammatory activity by suppressing NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathway and inducing HO-1 expression indicated that the QM-B can be used as a natural anti-inflammatory drugs.

  • 본 논문에서는 온칩 디커플링 커패시터에 의한 파워/그라운드 라인에서의 RLC 공진현상을 감소시키기 위한 해석적인 모델을 제시한다. 패키지 인덕턴스와 온칩 디커플링 커패시터 및 출력 드라이버로 인하여 형성되는 RLC 공진 회로의 공진주파수를 정확하게 예측하였다. 예측된 공진주파수를 이용하여 회로 동작에 필요한 적절한 디커플링 커패시터의 크기를 결정할 수 있다. 본 논문에서 제시한 공진현상을 감소시킬 수 있는 새로운 설계 방법의 타당성은 $0.18{\mu}m$ 공정 HSPICE 모텔을 사용한 시뮬레이션을 통하여 검증하였다.

  • This experiment was conducted to obtain basic information on the natural spice of Elsholtzia splendens, which is one of the native Korean aromatic plants for aromatic, medicinal and ornamental uses. The overall acceptability and the masking effects on the fetid smell of beef were investigated with Elsholtzia splendens-flavored oils by sensory evaluation. The ability of an electronic nose with six metal oxide sensors to classify Elsholtzia splendens flavored oils based on their odors was studied. The response by electronic nose was analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA). In EOI, EOII, and ESI, (이것들이 무엇을 의미하는지 기술할 필요가 있음). overall acceptability of French dressing showed a same level of preference during storage. Fetid smell of beef was not changed by the addition of 4 types of Elsholtzia splendens-flavored oil during storage. In EO I -flavored oil, the proportion of 1st principal component was 0.829, and the proportion of 1st principal component was 0.818 in ESI-flavored oil. 데이터 스트림 저장을 위한 순환버퍼 기법 (Circular Buffer Technique for Storing Data Stream)

  • 본 논문은 데이터 스트림의 저장을 위한 순환버퍼 기법을 제안한다. 빠르고 많은 입력을 가지는 데이터 스트림의 처리를 위해 DSMS(Data Stream Management System)란 새로운 시스템에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 현재 입력되고 있는 데이터 스트림과 과거에 발생했던 데이터 스트림을 동시에 검색하는 하이브리드 질의를 위해서는 데이터 스트림이 디스크에 저장되어야 한다. 그러나 데이터 스트림의 빠른 입력 속도와 메모리와 디스크 공간의 한계 때문에 저장된 데이터 스트림에 대한 질의보다는, 현재 입력되고 있는 데이터 스트림에 대한 질의에 대한 연구들이 주로 이루어졌다. 본 논문에서는 제안하는 순환버퍼는 데이터 스트림의 입력과 출력을 비동기적으로 빠르게 실행할 수 있다. 또한 입력되는 네트워크 패킷의 감소와 출력 시 디스크 I/O의 감소를 위하여 순환버퍼에서는 데이터 스트림의 묶음 단위로 입출력이 진행된다. 실험을 통하여 기술이 대량으로 입력되는 데이터 스트림을 빠르게 저장시킬 수 있다는 것을 보인다.

Life History Traits and the Rate of Molecular Evolution in Galliformes (Aves)

  • Rates of molecular evolution are known to vary widely among taxonomic groups. A number of studies, examining various taxonomic groups, have indicated that body size is negatively and clutch size is positively correlated with the rates of nucleotide substitutions among vertebrate species. Generally, either smaller body mass or larger clutch size is associated with shorter generation times and higher metabolic rates. However, this generality is subject to ongoing debate, and large-scale comparative studies of species below the Order level are lacking. In this study, phylogenetically independent methods were used to test for relationships between rates of the mitochondrial cytochrome b evolution and a range of life history traits, such as body mass and clutch size in the Order Galliformes. This analysis included data from 67 species of Galliformes birds and 2 outgroup species in Anseriformes. In contrast to previous studies, taxa were limited to within-Order level, not to Class or higher. I found no evidence to support an effect of life history traits on the rate of molecular evolution within the Galliformes. These results suggest that such relationship may be too weak to be observed in comparisons of closely related species or may not be a general pattern that is applicable to all nucleotide sequences or all taxonomic groups.

  • Five specimens (839 - 1280 mm TL, Total length) of the dusky shark Carcharhinus obscurus, belonging to the family Carcharhinidae, were collected from the waters off Jejudo Island, Sinan, Namhae, Busan and Gangneung, Korea, during 2010-2019. Carcharhinus obscurus was similar to Carcharhinus brachyurus but was distinguished by the interdorsal ridge (present in C. obscurus vs. absent in C. brachyurus) and the shape of upper jaw teeth (broad in C. obscurus vs. narrow in C. brachyurus). In addition, 479 base-pair sequences in the mitochondrial DNA cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) of our two specimens corresponded to those of C. obscurus (genetic distance, 0.000-0.003), but clearly distinguished from those of the Korean C. brachyurus (genetic distance, 0.03). We adopted the Korean name "Heuk-sang-eo" for Carcharhinus obscurus, after Kim and Ryu (2017).

유향 추출물이 혈관내피세포 부착단백질 발현에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Olibanum Extracts on Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecules Expression)

  • In order to validate the use of Olibanum as an anti-inflammatory drug in the traditional Korean medicine, I have investigated the effect of water-soluble extract of Olibanum (EO) on the expression of pro-inflammatory vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) stimulated with tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$. The extract inhibited dose-dependently VCAM-1 expression without its cytotoxic effect on HUVECs, as measured by a flow cytometer using fluorescence-enhanced anti-VCAM-1 antibody, and significantly decreased mRNA levels of VCAM-1, as determined using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. These results suggest that Olibanum may have therapeutic potential in the control of endothelial disorders caused by inflammation.

  • 최근 들어 무선 인터넷 및 모바일 기술이 급속한 발달을 이루면서 이동 객체의 위치에 기반 한 많은 서비스들이 개발되고 있다. 이 서비스에 사용되는 않은 어플리케이션들은 비교적 용량이 큰 공간 정보를 사용하여 최근에는 기존 디스크 기반 데이터베이스 관리 시스템이 제공할 수 있는 처리 속도보다 더욱 빠른 트랜잭션 처리를 요구하고 있다. 따라서 공간 데이터와 같은 대용량 데이터의 효율적인 처리와 폭주 하는 여러 사용자들에게 빠른 응답시간을 제공하여 주는 공간 DBMS가 요구되고 있다. 기존 디스크 기반의 공간 DBMS는 공간데이터와 같은 대용량의 데이터 관리가 가능하지만, 빠른 응답속도를 요구하는 여러 어플리케이션을 지원하기에는 무리가 있다. 반면에 메인 메모리 기반의 공간 DBMS는 불필요한 디스크 I/O를 없앰으로써 더욱 빠른 트랜잭션 처리를 지원하지만, 메인 메모리의 저장 한계로 대용량 처리에는 한계가 있다. 이러한 이유로 디스크 공간 DBMS의 장점과 메인 메모리 공간 DBMS의 장점으로 이루어진 다중레벨 공간 DBMS를 제안한다. 다중레벨 공간 DBMS는 디스크 기반의 공간 DBMS인 GMS시스템에 메인 메모리 데이터베이스와 그와 관련된 여러 컴포넌트들을 추가하여 개발 하였다. 제안된 시스템은 디스크 데이터베이스 기반의 대용량 데이터의 효율적인 관리와 메모리 데이터베이스 기반의 빠른 트랜잭션 처리를 보장한다.

유아교사의 전문성발달 수준에 따른 유아의 문제행동인식 및 문제행동지도전략 (The Cognition and Strategy of Preschool Teacher About Child's Behavior Problem According to the Level of Teacher's Professional Development)

  • This study examined the relationships between the cognitions and strategies of child's problem behaviors depending on the level of preschool teacher's professional development. Participants were 176 preschool teachers in B Metropolitan city. The teachers completed rating scales to measure teacher's professional development, the perception of child's problem behaviors, and teacher's guiding strategies for child's problem behaviors. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlations. Results showed that there were different cognitions of child's problem behaviors depending on the level of teacher's professional development. Secondly, child's problem behavior guiding strategies by the level of teacher's professional development were significant differences in the positive prevention strategy I, II, and the positive reaction strategy. Finally, there were somewhat different relationship between the cognition of child's problem behaviors and the problem behavior guiding strategies according to the level of teacher's professional development. Findings are discussed in terms of the importance of teacher's professional development in the context of teacher's education planning for teacher's guiding strategy about preschooler's problem behavior.

Capillary Gel Electrophoretic Analysis of Cattle Breeds Based on Difference of DNA Mobility of Microsatellite Markers

  • A breed of cattle, i.e., Korean cattle (Hanwoo), was identified based on the DNA mobilities of their microsatellites (MSs) by capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE) with a laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) detector. The MS markers were used for the accurate identification of species-specific genes. The DNA mobilities of the MS markers of Hanwoo and Holstein were measured using a CGE system with a fused-silica capillary (inner diameter of 75 ${\mu}m$, outer diameter of 365 ${\mu}m$, and total length of 50 cm). The capillary was dynamically coated with 1.0% (w/v) polyvinylpyrrolidone ($M_r$ = 1,000,000) and then filled with a mixture of 1.3% (w/v) poly(ethylene oxide) ($M_r$ = 600,000) and 1.9% (w/v) poly(ethylene oxide) (Mr = 8,000,000) as a sieving gel matrix. The species-specific genes of Hanwoo and Holstein were clearly distinguished within 33 min. This CGE assay technique is expected to be a useful analytical method for the fast and accurate identification of breeds of cattle.
