  • General problems of environmental contamination, scope of environmental science and technology, some considerations to the development of Korean environmental technology, and G-7 environmental engineering technology Projects were shortly reviewed, And four different strategies for innovation of Korean environmental technology.   • How would environmental education be implemented for effectiveness today? Deep reflection on the way of teaching environment in classes to achieve effectiveness is required. If there exist differences in students' environmental perception depending on environment class pattern, its most effective way should be looked for. In environmental education, inducing the students to have advisable attitude voluntary about environment is more important than teaching them environmental knowledge. From such view, students' active participation is necessary for successful environmental classes. Students need to be set to share their principle, values, attitude about environment problems at environmental class through presentation which is important factor to make them have advisable environmental attitude. Therefore, environmental class need to be carried out student-led way. For that, a class model need to be designed which will be helpful for the students to arrange and elaborate their emitting thought about environment problems through disclosing their thoughts to share them with fellow students which will end up in their advisable environmental attitude. This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of environmental collage making class contributive to offering various environmental perception to students and grasping others' thinking about environment. Fifty-eight 10th graders at U Science High School in Ulsan metropolitan city were selected for the study that carried out from 2010 April to June by choosing total 10 environmental themes divided into environmental collage making class applied to the 30 test group students, and general environmental class applied to 28 control group students. Following are the study results. First, in students' environmental sensitivity, the students in the environmental collage making class appeared to be higher compared with them in general environmental class. Second, in students' intentional environment action, the students in the environmental collage making class appeared to be higher compared with them in general environmental class. Third, in students' satisfaction with environmental class, the students in the environmental collage making class appeared to be higher compared with them in general environmental class.

생태 도시 개념을 적용한 도시 평가 지표 개발 및 활용 방안 연구 - 초등학교 5, 6학년을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Development of Urban Environmental Evaluation Indicator and Its Application for the Fifth and Sixth Graders based on the Eco-City Concept)

  • The purindicator and its application through the application of the eco-city concept. To achieve this aim, this study execute to erect eco-city concept, to develop urban evaluation indicator for the fifth and sixth graders of elementary school, to survey for elementary school teacher in Daegu and to develop application of urban evaluation indicator for the fifth and sixth graders of elementary school. The result of study can be summarized as follow. First, erecting the eco-city concept and urban evaluation indicator for the fifth and sixth graders of elementary school was developed with 14 objects, such like that saving and sound circulation of water resource, sound atmosphere. Second, The result of survey, generally, teachers evaluated that Daegu has problems. The degree of interest of urban environmental problem of Daegu showed that each problem had relatively equal distribution. Teachers had positive response that the ecocity concept applied to environmental education of elementary school. Selection of educational contents had distinct tendency with application of the concept of ecocity. Teachers indicated several problems in environmental education of elementary school. Third, We develop application of indicator for the fifth and sixth graders of elementary school. We concluded that developing application of indicator will offer as follows: First, student and teacher can logically understand urban environmental problems. Second, application of indicator had role of useful tool for environmental education of elementary school.

태양광 및 풍력단지의 개발에 따른 환경적·사회적 문제 분석 및 대응방안 (Analysis of Environmental and Social Problems Caused by Photovoltaic Complex and Wind Farm Construction and Countermeasures to Mitigate the Problems)

  • 태양광 및 풍력단지 건설 운영 사례에서 나타나는 환경 사회적 갈등들을 통하여 그 원인을 분석하고, 국내외의 긍정적인 건설 운영 및 갈등 조정 사례들을 분석하여 갈등의 최소화 방안 및 제도적 보완책을 모색하였다. 국내 태양광 및 풍력단지의 건설 운영 사례에서 나타나는 갈등은 지역 환경 훼손, 발전 시설에 따른 직접적인 피해, 발전 사업에 따른 지역 이익의 부재, 환경규제 및 관리상의 문제가 주된 원인이며, 이의 해결을 위한 방안으로 발전 사업 지침 개선 및 강화, 주민 수용성 확보, 사업설명회 규정 강화, 이해당사자의 참여 확대 방안 및 대안 입지와 해상풍력의 조속한 시행을 제시하였다. 이들 방법을 통해 신재생에너지기본계획 중 태양광 및 풍력에너지의 목표, 환경의 보호 및 보전 그리고 주민수용성 향상을 달성할 수 있다.

환경 문제에 대한 평가 도구 개발 및 국민학생과 중학생의 태도 조사 연구 (A study on elementary school students' and middle school students' attitudes toward environmental problems)

  • Concidering environmental education as an ultimate resolution for environmental problems, we conducted a study focusing on affective matters. An instrument was developed to evaluate attitudes of elementary and middle school students toward environmental problems. To develop a reliable Likert-type evaluation instrument scale with which emotional intensity could be judged, mean, standard deviation, response frequency distribution, discrimination index, reliability were calculated. As a result, 21 statements for recognition level and 14 statements for behavioral level were made(The Cronbach alpha coefficient of the instrument was .786). This instrument was used to evaluate 5th and 6th grade elementary school students and 1st and 2nd grade middle school students(total number of subjects was 980). The result of this survey can be summarized as follows. 1. Students recognized the seriousness of environmental problems but they did not behave in such a manner as to prevent it. 2. As a result of t-test, behavioral level score of elemenatary school students was significantly higher than that of middle school students(p<.001). 3. This study showed that there was a significant correlation between the recognition level score and the behavioral level score(r=.386, p<.001). 4. Two-Way ANOVA was used to analyze that there was any significant difference according to grade and sex. The results were as follows. (1) No significant difference was found in total score. (2) On recognition level, female students' score was signigicantly higher than that of male students(p<.01). (3) On behavioral level, higher-grade students' score was lower than that of lower-grade-students (p<.001).

한영 지리교과서의 지구적 환경문제에 대한 접근방식 - 산성비를 사례로 - (Approach to Global Environmental Problems in Geography Textbooks from Korea and England : A Case of Acid Rain)

  • 연구는 지구적 환경문제의 하나인 산성비가 지리교과서에서 어떻게 다루어지고 있는지를 검토한 것이다. 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 산성비의 기준 및 개념과 관련하여 우리나라 지리교과서는 영국 지리교과서와 달리 명확한 설명을 제시하고 있지 않다. 둘째, 산성비의 원인에 있어서 영국 지리교과서는 자연적 요인과 인위적 요인을 균형있게 다루고 있는 반면, 우리나라 지리교과서는 인위적인 요인만을 다루고 있다. 이러한 접근방식이 가지는 문제점은 학생들에게 산성비에 대한 오개념을 심어 줄 가능성이 있다는 것이다. 셋째, 산성비의 결과와 대책에 있어서는 우리나라와 영국 지리교과서 모두 다양한 사례를 제공하고 있다. 그러나 우리나라 지리교과서의 경우 산성비의 결과와 대책을 대체로 나열하는데 할애하는 반면에, 영국 지리교과서에서는 결과와 대책을 유형별로 구체적인 사례와 함께 매우 자세하게 다루고 있는 것이 차이점이라고 할 수 있다. 이와 같은 분석의 결과를 통해 볼 때, 지리교과서에서 산성비, 지구온난화 등 지구적 환경문제를 다룰 때에는 정확한 개념에 대한 진술에서 시작하여, 그러한 문제가 발생하는 원인 및 프로세스를 다양한 관점에서 접근하되 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 구조화하여 제시할 필요가 있다. 또한 지구적 환경문제로 인해 나타나는 결과와 이에 대한 대책은 정보를 나열하는 방식에서 벗어나, 구체적인 사례별로 학생들이 이해하고 공감할 수 있도록 제시할 필요가 있다. 지구적 환경문제의 접근에 있어서 개념 및 원인에 대한 정확한 이해가 선행되지 않는다면, 결과와 대책에만 초점을 두어 도덕적이고 윤리적인 측면만을 과도하게 강조할 가능성이 높다.

초등학교 학생들의 환경인식과 태도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Environmental Awareness and Attitude of Elementary School Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to survey and analyze the environmental awareness and attitude of elementary school students, adapting the CHEAKS(Children's Environmental Attitude and Knowledge Scale) for Korean elementary students, which is the valid-tested tools for children's environmental awareness and altitude. The subjects are 580 students from 6 elementary schools. The differences of the environmental attitude are surveyed and analyzed by environmental education activities, such as environmental activities in school and “the school forest movement”, and environmental awareness and concern. The results are as followings: First, the subjects replied that the environmental problems are very serious, such as atmospheric pollution(37.6%), water pollution(22.2%) and food waste(16.3%), but they are relatively optimistic of the future environment. Second, the verbal commitment subdomain and the affect domain are evaluated higher than the actual commitment subdomain, and the environmental issues of water, energy and recycling are considered more importantly than other issues such as environmental generals, pollutions and animals. Third, the grade and the sex have little effect on the environmental attitude, but the environmental education activities have great positive effect, such as the experience of environmental camping, the education of saving resources, waste separation and the experience of raising plants and flowers. Fourth, the students with high awareness and concern about the environmental problems have high environmental attitude. Especially, the awareness and concern on the flowers and plants have very strong correlation with environmental attitude, regardless of the subdomains. Finally, the students from the school participating “the school forest movement” have relatively positive environmental attitude. Particularly, the participation of students and the positive approach of the school have positively great influence on the students' environmental attitude in all of 3 subdomains and 6 environmental issues.

동아일보 기사 수, 단수, 내용을 통한 쓰레기 문제의 중요도 변천분석 : 1920-1990년사이 (The Changes of the Garbage Problem Importance through the Number of Articles, Column Headings and Contents of Dong A Ilbo)

  • Desolation of the earth due to environmental pollution is rising as a world wide problem and concern. At this point we need to look into the problem and set up a direction for the future. In order to reveal the change of garbage problems in our county's civil life, a researcher analyzed 369 garbage related articles from the first edition of Dong A Ilbo up to 1990. The following is the result of data from garbage related articles. It is organized by age and era(10 years). 1) Number of articles by year roses in 1921 after first publication of garbage problem article. In the 1930s, the number of articles drastically increased in 1937. From then on, the number of articles declined until early 1970s but roses again from 1978. 2) Yearly change in articles was a mere 1.2 columns in between 1920 to 1960. In the 1970's, relative importance increased and over 5 columns were published. Articles rose in the 1980s with over 3.4 and 5 columns. 3) The contents of the articles can be classified into cleaning problems, collecting and transporting, expenses, and recycling. Garbage disposal problems continued until the 1970s. Regarding garbage collecting problems, form of collecting container and location was discussed. Laws were revised after garbage disposal areas were discussed in the 1920s. Expenses were levied from the 1930s and rising cost and double charge problems were subjected. Garbage recycling began in the 1920s and continued until 1900s.

다자간 환경협력에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Multilateral Environmental Cooperation)

  • This research emphasizes the necessity of building a multilateral environmental cooperation. The Process and Problems of multilateral environmental cooperation system are discussed, and some policy proposals are suggested. Especially for Northeast Asia, a comprehensive multilateral environmental cooperation system is required because of transborder pollutions. Within the contractual environment, international institutions can help the parties of conference to build up national capacity to cope with environmental threat.

초등 예비교사들의 해양학적 소양과 해양 관련 주제의 교수 전략에 대한 의견 분석 (An Analysis of Pre-service Elementary Teachers' Oceanographic Literacy and Opinions on Teaching Strategies for Ocean-related Topics)

  • This study aims to analyze pre-service elementary teachers' oceanographic literacy, understanding of ocean environmental problems and opinions on teaching strategies for ocean topics. As survey participants, this study selected 126 pre-service elementary teachers. Firstly, as a result of testing their oceanographic literacy, this study found out that out of all the basic principles, 'Oceans Largely Unexplored' was highest in the mean score, followed by 'Human Connections', 'Ocean & Its Life Shape Earth', 'Habitability', 'Biodiversity', 'Weather & Climate' and 'Size of Ocean'. Besides, regarding environmental problems affecting all the aspects of ocean, they mentioned oil spills caused by vessel accidents, so called 'Oil Pollution', as the most serious marine environmental problem. Regarding environmental problems affecting coral reefs, they considered over-fishing as the most serious problem. Secondly, as a result of analyzing their opinions on effective teaching strategies for ocean-related topics in elementary science textbooks, this study found out that regarding topics about understanding the undersea topography in the chapter of the earth and moon, they proposed 'Making an Undersea Topographic Model with Sand' most as an effective teaching strategy. As an effective teaching strategy for the chapter of animals' lives, they proposed 'Classifying Animals with Marine Animal Cards' most. As an effective teaching strategy for the chapter of ground surface changes, they proposed 'Making and Simulating Seashore Topography' most.
