영국정원에서의 색상중심의 재식설계방법 - 먼스태드 우드, 시싱허스트, 그레이트 딕스터, 히드콧 매너를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Method of Color-centered Planting Design in the English Gardens - Focusing on Munstead Wood, Sissinghurst, Great Dixter, Hidcote Manner -)

  • 정원의 재식설계(planting design)는 환경과 식물의 생리적인 특징을 파악하고, 그 식물이 가지고 있는 색채, 질감, 형태의 심미적인 호기심에서부터 출발하여 다른 식물들과의 관계를 어떻게 해야 하는지 결정해야 한다. 많은 디자이너들은 전통적으로 색상요소를 중점적으로 구상하는 경향이 있다. 본 연구는 제킬(Gertrude Jekyll)의 먼스태드 우드(Munstead Wood), 비타(Vita Sackvill-West)의 시싱허스트(Sissinghurst), 로이드(Christopher Lloyd)의 그레이트 딕스터(Great Dixter), 존스턴(Lawrence Johnston)의 히드콧 매너(Hidcote Manner)의 4개의 정원을 사례로 한다. 먼스태드 우드의 플라워 보더(flower border)는 끝에 연한 회색과 파란색을 식재하고, 중심으로 갈수록 화려한 빨간색과 오렌지색의 강한 클라이맥스를 만들고 있다. 기존에 등한시했던 흰색과 파란색을 사용하였다. 시싱허스트는 그 이전까지 거의 사용되지 않던 퍼플색(purple color)을 사용하였으며, 딕스터에서는 원래 놓여있던 마젠타색과 동시에 뚜렷한 오렌지색의 혼합으로 기존에 형성되어 있는 색에 대해서 충격을 느끼게 하고, 병치를 통해 원하는 효과를 이룰 수 있게 하였다. 히드콧 매너는 강력한 레드 보더(Red border)를 탄생시켰다. 4명의 작가들은 관찰자의 진행방향에 따라 섞이는 색의 배열, 색의 조절을 통해 정원이 실제보다 크거나 작게 느껴질 수 있는 공간체험을 위해서 색을 사용하였다. 인식 공간에서 주색상과 부차적 색상을 혼합하여 배열할 때, 감상자로 하여금 머릿속에 총체적으로 인식하는 기법을 사용하였다. 재식설계에서 시간은 계절을 유지하여 연출하자는 것으로 주제 색상을 전개할 때, 색상 그라데이션을 사용하거나 색상대비 효과를 유도한다. 또, 재식설계에서 공간은 색상의 구역을 정하는 방식으로 이루어졌다.

영국 화훼 디자이너, 쉐인 코널리와 폴라 프라이크의 색채 분석 (Color Analysis of Floral Designs of Shane Connolly and Paula Pryke, Floral Designers from UK)

  • 본 연구는 영국 화훼디자이너 Shane Connolly와 Paula Pryke의 작품 60개의 색채 이미지를 분석하여 화훼 공간 연출 장식의 색채 배색의 기초자료가 되어 국내 화훼디자이너들에게 도움이 되는 것을 목적으로 한다. 작품의 색채를 가지고 빈도분석, 좌표분석, 이미지분석을 실시한 결과, Shane Connolly는 GY>Y>RP>YR>R>P>G>PB색상순의 빈도로 색채를 사용하며, Paula Pryke는 GY>RP>R>P>YR,Y>G>PB색상순의 빈도로 색채를 사용하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 색상, 명도, 채도를 좌표 분석 한 결과, Shane Connolly의 작품에서는 Y~GY색상, 명도는 중·고명도 영역에, 채도는 중·고채도 영역에서 높은 빈도를 보였다. Paula Pryke의 작품에서는 GY색상과 P~RP색상, 명도는 3.8~9단계에서 폭넓게 보였으며, 채도는 중·고채도 영역에서 높은 빈도를 보였다. 형용사 이미지스케일의 분포도 분석 결과, Shane Connolly의 작품은 부드러운(soft), 정적인(static) 사이의 형용사영역에, Paula Pryke의 작품은 부드러운(soft), 동적인(active) 사이의 형용사영역에 분포되어 있음을 알 수 있었다.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEPENDENCE OF STAR FORMATION AND GALAXY TRANSFORMATION IN MERGING GALAXY CLUSTER ABELL 2255: AKARI'S POINT OF VIEW

  • We investigate the role of galaxy environment in the evolution of individual galaxies through the AKARI observations of the merging galaxy cluster A2255. MIR diagnostics using N3-S11 colors are adopted to select star-forming galaxies and galaxies in transition between star-forming galaxies and quiescent galaxies. We do not find particular enhancement of star formation rates as a function of galaxy environment, reflected in cluster-centric distance and local surface density of galaxies. Instead, the locations of intermediate MIR-excess galaxies (-1.2 < N3 - S11 < 0.2) show that star-forming galaxies are transformed into passive galaxies in the substructures of A2255, where the local surface density of galaxies is relatively high.

  • Melasma is a common disorder that causes dark colored patches. It generally causes brown spots on the face, especially on the forehead, cheeks, and upper lips. The pattern of patches has bilateral symmetry in yellowish-brown to gray-brown colors. It is much more common in women than in men. Melasma is considered to be caused by environmental and physical constitutional factors and often occurs when a woman's hormone changes by pregnancy or the use of oral contraceptive pills. It is important to combine oriental medicine and Sasang constitutional medicine for treatment of Melasma. Normal treatment of Melasma includes warming oneself, removal of the emotional stress factors, and good nutrition.

Synthesis and Characterization of Colorimetric Chemosensors Using New Direct Dyes

  • Colorimetric chemosensors are now considered as one of the most effective analytical method used in the environmental monitoring. In this study, 10 new direct dyes were synthesized to be used as colorimetric chemosensor. When metal ions such as $Al^{3+},\;Ca^{2+},\;Cd^{2+},\;Cr^{3+},\;Cu^{2+},\;Fe^{2+},\;Fe^{3+},\;Hg{^2+},\;Li^+,\;Mg^{2+},\;Na^+,\;Ni^{2+},\;Pb^{2+}\;and\;Zn^{2+}$ were added to the solutions of new dyes, the colors of the solutions were changed and can be easily detected by eyes without any expensive equipments. Some metal ions were coordinated to the new direct dyes forming complex. The experimental data and conclusions were rationalized by UV-VIS spectroscopy.

  • Diisodecyl phthalate (DIDP) which has high physical flexibility, various colors, low viscosity, high stability is used as coating material in ballon, vinyl ink, tent, textile, home and cars interior design and electric cable. 염색폐수의 생물학적 색도제거 연구 (Biological Decolorization Characteristics of Dyeing Wastewater)

  • The concept for the decolorization in biological dye wastewater treatment systems is based on anaerobic treatment, for the reductive cleavage of the dyes' azo linkages, in combination with aerobic treatment, for the degradation of the products from azo dye cleavage, aromatic amines. Batch tests were conducted to examine the conditions and the factors affecting biological treatment of dye wastewater. From the tests, the removal efficiencies of organics and colors of dyeing wastewater were improved to $COD_{Cr}$ 27% and color 9% by injecting 10% of the domestic wastewater as a cosubstrate, and $COD_{Cr}$ 30%, color 22% with 30% injection of domestic wastewater. Therefore it was proved that decolorization efficiency is demonstrated with domestic wastewater as a cosubstrate. The analysis of aromatic amines in wastewater showed that decolorization was achieved by cometabolism while aromatic amines were produced by cleavage of azo bonds under anaerobic conditions and these products were removed in an aerobic tank subsequently.

  • Recently, from a saving energy and environmental lighting sources point of view, using LED lighting have been increased rapidly. The colors of light was applied to the control of dimmers that is composed of red, green, blue, and white(RGBW) to improve the quality of visual environment. Moreover this study has been processed to develop adjustable dynamic LED lighting system on SPD and definitize the various spectral power distribution and color temperature of light through the control of the four dimmers. It is possible to combine up to $432^4$ kinds of light. Measurement of illuminance of range on working surface was as 7~l,831 lux. Application of visual environment for occupants can be expected according to control of lighting performance.

Environmental Dependence of Star Formation and HI Gas Fraction of Galaxies in the SDSS DR8

  • We examine the effect of environment on star formation activity of a sample of galaxy group catalogue given in Tempel et al.(2012) constructed from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 8. In order to compare galaxies in different environment, we classify galaxies into two groups: galaxies in low density environment and galaxies in high density environment. After matching colors and apparent magnitudes of the galaxies, we are left with 5912 galaxies in each of the environment category. The fraction of star-forming galaxies in low-density environment is ~34%, higher than ~15% in high-density environment. Star-forming galaxies in low density environment have a higher average SFR value than those in high density environment. The bulge-to-disk ratio for galaxies in two different environment shows bimodal distribution. Regardless of the environment, we find galaxies with high star formation rate despite their red (g-r) color, for which the origin enhancing their star formation rate is investigated.

  • Image processing has been applied to steel bridge defect recognition since 1990s. Compare to human visual inspection, image processing provides a more objective and accurate way of assessment. Since shade and shadow may sometimes occur when taking bridge coating images, non-uniform illumination problems should be considered. By means of color image processing, this paper aims to mitigate the illumination effect for bridge coating assessment. Furthermore, the adaptable ellipse method (AEM) is proposed to recognize mild rust colors. Finally, AEM will be compared to the K-Means algorithm, a popular recognition method, to show its advantage.
