Most manufacturing companies participate in various types of active collaboration to enhance competitive advantages in their arenas. In this paper, we introduce a data warehouse system that is designed for manufacturing collaboration. Just as enterprise information systems, collaboration support systems also need functions of performance measurement and monitoring. For this reason, we devise a new approach to measuring and evaluating performance of manufacturing collaboration. Specifically, we first present a concept of process warehouses for manufacturing collaboration. Next, we design a data schema of collaborative process warehouses to store and monitor collaboration performances. Finally, we implement a prototype system to support performance management of manufacturing collaboration. The proposed system can be used to effectively maintain and continuously improve collaboration in manufacturing industry.

There are increasing needs for an individual or enterprise to interchange documents electronically through communication network to enhance the efficiency of business, according to the rapid progress in the construction of communication network. UN has established and distributed the standards for electronic documents to facilitate rapid and accurate processing of business. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of an integrated system for processing documents that conform to the electronic document standards. This system consists of three subsystems, which are an EDI parser for checking syntax, an EDI document editor, and an EDI directory viewer for referencing syntax of an EDI document. Integrated usage of these tools can afford the composition of correct EDI documents more rapidly and conveniently.

The web-based groupware systems hold many possibilities for system developers and users. Especially, web-based group collaborative systems are emerging as enterprise-wide information systems. Since data in group collaborative systems are apt to be shared among multiple concurrent users and modified simutaneously by them, the web-based group collaborative systems must support synchronous collaboration in order to provide users with synchronized and consistent views of shared data. However, current web technologies have limitations in supporting this, largely because the existing Hypertext Transfer Protocol(HTTP) is unidirectional and does not allow web servers to send messages to their web browsers without first receiving requests from them. This paper proposes an active web server that can overcome such limitations and facilitate synchronous collaboration in web-based group collaborative systems. To accomplish such goals, the active web server manages dependency relationships beween shared data and web browsers referencing them and actively propagates changing details of the shared data to all web browsers referencing them. And, this paper examines usefulness and effectiveness of the active web server to apply it to the ball-bearing design example of concurrent engineering design systems. The prototype system of the active web server is developed on a commercial Object-oriented Database Management System(0DBMS) called OBJECTSTERE using the C++ programming language.

There are many kinds of applications or software components to manage files in a local computer, but it is very difficult to organize personal documents in a consistent way and to search expected ones in a precise way. In this paper, we present our development of a document management and retrieval tool, which is named Ontalk. Our system provides a semi-automatic metadata generator and an ontology-based search engine for electronic documents. Ontalk can create and import various ontologies in RDFS or OWL for describing the metadata. Our system that is built upon.NET technology is easily communicated with or flexibly plugged into many different programs.

Purpose - This study suggested a practical model for super supermarkets (SSMs) and small- and medium-sized stores to grow together. Super centers expanded their business. However, after the retail distribution law was revised in 2009, mutual cooperation between large and small enterprises resulted in social issues and people raised the issue of profitability. Research design, data, and methodology - This study investigated cases of regulation over distribution in Japan, France, and other countries to reveal implications and recommendations. Results - This study demonstrated how SSM and middle and small supermarkets could grow together by franchising and using cooperative society law. Franchising was a mutual growth model whereby the franchiser provided franchisees with large enterprise systems and utilities while franchisees could provide the franchiser with local information. They could thus build trust in each other to facilitate a mutual growth model. Further, the voluntary franchise system's model facilitated the mutual growth model. Conclusions - This study demonstrates that the franchise system and cooperative society could constitute an ideal model whereby large enterprises and middle and small stores could rely upon each other and grow together.

The polysulfone(PSf)/polyethersulfone(PES) blend membranes were prepared by an immersion precipitation method. N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone(NMP) was used as a solvent and water as a nonsolvent. The composition of the coagulation bath and the dope polymer concentration as well as the blend ratio of two polymers were varied. The membrane morphologies were interpreted on the basis of the phase diagram of the PSf/PES/NMP/water system. As the solvent content in the coagulation bath increased in the single polymer system, the number of macrovoids decreased and the morphology was changed from finger-like to cellular structure. In the given bath condition phase separation occurs earlier for the solutions of PSf/PES blend than for those of single polymer. A horizontally layered structure and horizontal protuberances inside the macrovoid were observed for the membranes formed from PSf/PES blend solutions. This peculiar structure formation can be interpreted by a PSf-rich/PES-rich phase separation followed by a polymer-rich/polymer-lean phase separation during the exchange of solvent and nonsolvent.

Recently, SpaceX, private enterprise dealing in space development company, has reported a plan for launching of 42,000 low earth orbit satellites until 2031 through Starlink Business, and launched 900 satellites until now. Concretely, it plans tp operate Ku/Ka band satellite, and launch 7,518 of V band satellites for broadband communication. Therefore, we can utilize wireless communication in an ocean, and various solutions through the low earth orbit satellites. This paper deals in a realization of wireless control system employing FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) for vessel applications.

Recent years have witnessed that the Korean government prompts the 'Power IT' enterprise to combine electric Power industry with information technology (IT). Especially, in a move to shore up the distribution automation system, the necessity for remote control of molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) is getting more and more important. In this paper, we aimed to propose a remote-controlled MCCB of which the driving device is substituted to electrical equipment for mechanical parts. Driving device of MCCB was designed with the Electromagnetic Force driving Actuator (EMFA). Electromagnetic force and dynamic characteristics of the designed EMFA are analyzed using 2-D finite element method (FEM).

As today's business environment becomes more globalized and distributed, the importance of collaboration is rapidly increasing. This Paper Presents a systematic approach to collaboration strategy planning. The framework suggests that a Collaborative Process Map needs to be identified first. Then, Collaboration Maturity of an enterprise is evaluated. Based on the Collaborative Process Map and Collaboration Maturity Evaluation, Collaboration Execution Plans are systematically established. A case study shows that the proposed framework can successfully be applied to the strategic collaboration planning of semiconductor industry

The interest in economics and efficiency of IT investment is growing as the amount of overall governmental IT investment steadily increase. Accordingly, there is a strong need to determine whether the expenditure incurs effectively for IT investment and to accurately analyze the economics of IT investment, In this perspective, this study discusses the prior researches on concepts regarding the analysis of IT investment management framework as proposed from academic and professional perspectives in advanced countries' government sectors. Thereafter, an adoption of IT investment management (ITIM) framework has been considered so as to enhance the performance of ICT initiative projects in the public sector. In the suggested IT investment management framework, we suggest economics and efficiency of public IT investment should be improved by integrating ICT project selection and control as well as evaluation stage into single governance framework.
