Cure Kinetics of Cycloaliphatic Epoxy/Silica System for Electrical Insulation Materials in Outdoor Applications

  • The cure kinetics of a neat epoxy system and epoxy/silica composite were investigated by DSC analysis. A cycloaliphatic type epoxy resin was diglycidyl 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylate and curing agent was anhydride type. To estimate kinetic parameters, the Kissinger equation was used. The activation energy of the neat epoxy system was 88.9 kJ/mol and pre-exponential factor was 2.64×1012 min−1, while the activation energy and pre-exponential factor for epoxy/silica composite were 97.4 kJ/mol and 9.21×1012 min−1, respectively. These values showed that the silica particles have effects on the cure kinetics of the neat epoxy matrix.

A Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy power-distribution method for a prototypical advanced reactor considering pump degradation

  • Advanced reactor designs often feature longer operating cycles between refueling and new concepts of operation beyond traditional baseload electricity production. Owing to this increased complexity, traditional proportional-integral control may not be sufficient across all potential operating regimes. The prototypical advanced reactor (PAR) design features two independent reactor modules, each connected to a single dedicated steam generator that feeds a common balance of plant for electricity generation and process heat applications. In the current research, the PAR is expected to operate in a load-following manner to produce electricity to meet grid demand over a 24-hour period. Over the operational lifetime of the PAR system, primary and intermediate sodium pumps are expected to degrade in performance. The independent operation of the two reactor modules in the PAR may allow the system to continue operating under degraded pump performance by shifting the power production between reactor modules in order to meet overall load demands. This paper proposes a Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy logic-based power distribution system. Two T-S fuzzy power distribution controllers have been designed and tested. Simulation shows that the devised T-S fuzzy controllers provide improved performance over traditional controls during daily load-following operation under different levels of pump degradation.

  • When Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) is vaporized into NG for industrial and household usage, tremendous cold energy was transferred from LNG to seawater during phase-changing process. This heat exchanger loop is not only a waste of huge cold energy, but will cause thermal pollution to the coastal fishery area also when cold water was re-injected into the sea. In this study, an innovation design has been performed to reclaim the cold energy for -35 to $62^{\circ}C$ refrigerated warehouse. Conventionally, this was done by installing mechanical refrigeration systems, necessitating tremendous electrical power to drive temperature. A closed loop LNG heat exchangers in series was designed to replace the mechanical or vapor-compression refrigeration cycle by process simulator. The process simulation software of PRO II with provision has been used to simulate this process for various conditions, what to effect on cold energy and used energy for re-liquefaction and evaporation process. In addition, through analysis the effect of the change of LNG supply pressure on sensible and latent heat, optimum operational conditions was suggested for LNG cold energy warehouse.

  • The change of the transportation circumstance related to the deep environmental pollution, escalation of the energy price, increasing social cost of the congestion and traffic accident, improving a income level, advanced social structure etc, is rapidly proceeded. For the corresponding this transportation circumstance, the role of the railway is being increased and that is friendly with environment, efficient for the energy, observed the time schedule and the transportation device which is high speed and safe mass transportation. In addition, government's R&D investment is being increased according to deeping a strength of the international competitiveness through the technical innovation. So railway's R&D investment is being increased. Accordingly, This study suggest improving a fruit of the R&D related to railway R&D system for a efficient R&D investment.

A STUDY ON CONSUMER'S READINESS TOWARDS ADOPTION OF LED LIGHT IN INDIA

  • The purpose of this paper is to find out the factors responsible for purchase of LED (light-emitting-diodes) bulbs & tubes among Indian consumers and how much they are ready to replace their existing lighting system with LED fittings. A multiple regression model has been employed to investigate the factors affecting the buying decision of LED lamps in place of CFL and incandescent lamps. Eleven motives for adopting LED lamps has been identified viz. price, quality, energy saving, durability, brand, promotion, CSR, & environmental consciousness. In addition the effect of demographic variables like gender, age, household income on the purchasing decision of LED has also been examined. A total 150 respondents were contacted visiting different outlet of electrical shops of Northern Delhi. The study may helpful for the companies to decide their marketing strategies to promote LED Lamps among the consumers with an aim to save energy and save environment.

  • 배출권거래제는 온실가스 감축과 저탄소 사회로의 전환을 위한 핵심 정책이다. EU 배출권거래제(EU ETS)는 운영기간, 핵심 설계 노하우 등에서 국내 배출권거래제보다 앞서 있는 좋은 벤치마크 대상이다. 이에 본 연구는 EU ETS 4기의 주요 제도 설계를 배출허용총량(Cap), 배출권 무상할당방식, 유·무상할당업종 선정 방식, 시장안정화 조치, 감축지원제도 등을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 그리고 EU ETS 1-4기의 주요 설계와 주요 설계 변경이 향후 국내 배출권거래제의 설계 및 운영에 미칠 영향을 각각 분석해보았다. 우선, 국내 배출권거래제 설계에 대한 영향으로는 벤치마크 갱신 방안 마련, 국내 산업구조 및 특성을 반영한 무상할당업종 선정 기준 마련과 2단계 평가 도입, 경매 수익의 구체적 활용방안 마련의 세 가지 요구가 증대될 것으로 예상된다. 다음으로 향후 배출권거래제 운영에 미칠 영향으로는 제도 개정의 객관적이고 심도있는 영향평가, 계획 및 제도 개정의 이른 확정을 통한 제도 안정성 및 대응 기회 제공, 배출권 거래제 거버넌스 조정 및 이해관계자 참여 확대 유도 세 가지를 들 수 있다.

  • This paper is a study about characteristics of the SSC-1 nozzle, which is used in a fire extinguishing system in a ship. Through this paper, we can find that the traces and elements’ distributions obtained from experiments are as the same as the simulation analysis results of CFD program. At the point of 100mm, the $\alpha$ is 34.9 in the CFD analysis, and it is 32.5 in the experiment. This shows that there is no big different between the CFD analysis and the experiment result. And the average elements velocity is similar to the SMD.

  • Recently, Stirling engines are emerging as a key device for power conversion of renewable energy or waste energy. This study develops a LTDSE(Low Temperature Differential Stirling Engine) using a water spray for higher heat transfer and performs load performance tests for various flow rates and temperatures of hot water spray for variable engine loads emulated by a mechanical friction device. Internal temperature and pressure, working frequency and inlet and outlet temperature of the supply water are measured. As a result, the increases in flow rate and temperature of hot water respectively enhance the power output, efficiency and the working frequency, while the increasing engine load leads to decreases in working frequency but increases in the pressure amplitude. Eventually, it is revealed there exists a maximum shaft power of the test engine.

Literature review and expert council were used to achieve the objectives of study. In addition, health silver specialist, bio biomedical engineer, renewable energy specialist etc. were promising by considering social and economic trend for demographic change like aging and green growth.

  • This paper is concerned with an optimal control suspension system using the preview information of road input based on a quarter car model. The main purpose of the control is to combine good vibration isolation characteristics with improved attitude control. The optimal control law is derived with the use of calculus of variation, consisting of three parts. The first part is a full state feedback term that includes integral control acting on the suspension deflection to ensure zero steady-state deflection in response to static body forces and ramp road inputs. The second part is a feed-forward term which compensates for the body forces when they can be detected, and the third part depends on previewed road input. The performance of the suspension is evaluated in terms of frequency domain characteristics and time responses to ramp road input and cornering forces. The effects of each part of the suspension controller on the system behavior are examined.
