The Effects of Cognitive Ability on Emotional and Behavioural Problems Among Preschoolers (유아의 인지능력이 문제행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between cognitive ability and emotional and behavioural problems in a nonclinical sample of 120 preschool children aged 4-5 years. Cognitive ability scores were derived from the 'McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities', and emotional and behavioural problems were measured using quantitative and dimensional method, 'Child Behavior Checklist'. The results from this study support similar findings among older children and clinical populations that lower McCarthy general, verbal, and perceptual-performance IQ scores are associated with internalizing and externalizing emotional and behavioural problems. On the basis of this study, early identification of intellectual deficits among preschool children may help to prevent later school difficulties and severe psychopathology.

  • There are several methods to implement the logical machine reasoning such as a frame theory and a production system of artificial intelligence. And these algorithms can explain the obtained result through the inference processes. However, emotional (KANSEI) patterns are not so easily implement. One of reason is that some emotional expression is the result of process from unconscious level to conscious level, and not easily identified the original unconscious causes. Therefore, a function of KANSEI database needs to structuralize unconscious level. Our approach is to develop the computerized counseling support system which can structuralize the unconscious brain functions from the view point of the psychology with focusing physiological and emotional responses. Especially, development of the algorithm that can form the network from unconscious to conscious using the image recollection is the application of the structured association technique (SAT). The developed system was implemented on the Web using CGI and emotional network database.

The Relationships between Children's Emotional and Behavioral Problems, Attachment, Fears and Coping Behaviors (정서행동문제아의 부모 및 또래에 대한 애착과 두려움, 스트레스 대처행동 간의 관계)

  • The present study systematically analyzed the relationships between children's emotional and behavioral problems, attachment, fears and coping behaviors. The subjects of this study were 63 school-aged children residing in Seoul, Gwangiu and South Jeolla province. The findings indicated that emotional and behavioral problems were negatively correlated to children's attachments to their fathers and peers. The children's attachment to peers had a significant correlation as well as behavioral problems and coping strategies used by children in stressful situations. Emotional problems were explained by fears of realistic objects, the seeking out of social support, mother and father attachment, and fears of imaginary objects. In addition, behavioral problems were explained by aggressive coping behaviors and child-father attachment.

The Effect of Occupational Moral Injury on Career Abandonment Intention Among Physicians in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic

  • Background: Since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, physicians have been the unsung heroes of the pandemic. However, many are about to give up the battlefield. This study investigated the effect of occupational moral injury on physicians' career abandonment intention, taking into account the possible mediating role of emotional exhaustion. Methods: Cross-sectional data collected from 201 physicians were analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS to determine the relationship among physicians' moral injuries, emotional exhaustion, and career abandonment intention. Results: The results indicated that occupational moral injury was positively related to emotional exhaustion and career abandonment intention. In addition, emotional exhaustion was found to play a mediating role in the relationship. Conclusion: To reduce physicians' intention to leave their career, physicians should be prepared for moral injury and psychological issues by offering psychological support and meeting their needs early at both the individual and organizational levels during and after the pandemic.

Influence of Social Support and Negative Emotional Status on Self-care Adherence in Symptomatic Patients with Heart Failure (심부전 환자의 사회적 지지와 부정적 정서상태가 자가간호 이행에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The objective of this study was to identify factors related to self-care adherence in symptomatic patients with heart failure (HF). Methods: Using a cross-sectional design, a convenience sample 209 outpatient clinic patients were recruited at two medical centers. Between October 2011 and August 2012, data were collected using the structured questionnaire. Factors related to self-care adherence were examined using hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Mean age of participants was 67.71 years and a half of them (53.6%) were female. They showed relatively low self-care adherence with mean scores of $61.88{\pm}12.92$. Lower self-care adherence was reported in asking for low sodium items, weighing oneself, checking for ankle edema, and exercising for 30 minutes. The overall model significantly explained 23.9% of variance in self-care adherence. Among the predictors, education, New York Heart Association functional classification, and social support were statistically significant in influencing self-care adherence. The variable of negative emotional status such as anxiety and depression were not found to be significant. Conclusion: These findings demonstrate that social support could help self-care adherence among symptomatic patients with HF. Thus, programs targeting self-care adherence in this population should consider the strategies improving social support.

The Influence of Culture on the Experiences of Korean, Korean American, and Caucasian-American Family Caregivers of Frail Older Adults: A Literature Review

  • Purpose. The purpose of this review is to explore cultural influences on the experiences of Korean, Korean American, and Caucasian American family caregivers caring for frail older adults in terms of the selection of a primary caregiver, caregiving motivation, support/help-seeking, and negative emotional responses (depression and burden). Methods. Seven electronic databases were searched to retrieve studies from 1966 to 2005. Thirty-two studies were identified. Results. This review supported cultural influences on the selection of primary caregiver, caregiving motivation, and support/help-seeking among the three caregiver groups. In Korean caregivers, the major primary caregivers were daughters-in-law while among Korean American and Caucasian American caregivers, the major primary caregivers were daughters or spouses. As a major caregiving motivation, Caucasian American care¬givers reported filial affection while Korean caregivers and Korean American caregivers reported filial obligation. Korean caregivers reported higher extended family support, while Caucasian American caregivers reported higher utilization of formal support. Korean caregivers showed the highest levels of depression followed by Korean American caregivers and Caucasian American caregivers. Conclusion. In order to develop culturally appropriate interventions and policies, more research is needed to further explain these differences among the three groups, especially regarding support/help-seeking and negative emotional responses.

The effect of work-family role conflict and spousal support resources on parenting stress among working mothers with pre-school children (미취학 자녀를 둔 취업모의 일-가정 역할갈등, 배우자지지 자원이 양육스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of work-family conflict and spousal support resources on parenting stress among working mothers with pre-school children. This study involved a total of 232 working mothers with children enrolled in child care centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do as conducting a survey. First, the higher the work-family conflict (inter-role conflict caused by the impact of work on family life), the higher the family-work conflict (inter-role conflict caused by the impact of family life on work). Moreover, the lower the level of spousal support resources (emotional spousal support resources, instrumental spousal resources), the higher the work-family conflict and family-work conflict. The level of parenting stress was higher in working mothers experiencing greater work-family conflict and family-work conflict both and lower levels of spousal support resources for parenting. Second, the number of children and the amount of work-family conflict and instrumental spousal support resources had a statistically significant impact on parenting stress. Thus, the higher the number of children, the greater the work-family conflict, and the lower the level of instrumental spousal support resources, the higher the level of parenting stress. The findings of this study highlight the relative effects of role conflicts between work and family and of spousal support resources on parenting stress in working mothers. Husbands' being involved in parenting, in particular, was identified as an important support function for healthy child-rearing by successfully combining career and family responsibilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how SMEs' perception of organizational support affects turnover intention, and to investigate the moderating effect of abusive supervisionin the relationship between organizational support perception and turnover intention. As a result of the analysis of the study, First, it was confirmed that organizational support perception had a negative (-) effect on turnover intention. Second, the higher the organizational support awareness, the lower the turnover intention, but when the abusive supervision in intervened, it was found that the organizational support perception offsets the effect that reduces the turnover intention again. That is, emotional support, turnover intention still appeared even if the abusive supervisionin was involved, but instrumental support had no effect on turnover intention when the abusive supervisionin was involved. This study is meaningful in that it expanded the scope of manufacturing services, semiconductors, and IT industries of SMEs with high turnover intentions.

  • Various support is being provided at the Office of Education level to resolve educational deficits and side effects caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. Because comprehensive support for teachers' physical and mental recovery is as important as support for student recovery, this paper looked at the teacher recovery support projects and best practices of the Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education. The Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education operates the Teacher Healing Support Center, operation of itinerant temporary teachers to support short-term classes for elementary and middle school students, supports for the operation of 'Elementary Life Assistants, advancement of the 'School Work Immediate Support System', development and production of easy and easy work help materials for low-experience teachers, and school autonomy. We are improving educational conditions through various supports for teacher recovery, such as organizing and operating an operation support group. In particular, in addition to providing opportunities for recharge, such as psychological and emotional healing support and healing training, streamlining school work and supporting workload reduction, such as restructuring school work and improving work methods, is significant as a more fundamental measure for teacher recovery. there is.

  • This study was intended to verify the impact on the quality of service for employees of youth training facilities. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for improving service quality by analyzing the factors influencing service quality of youth training facility workers. Data were collected from 110 youth training facilities in Busan. The results showed that social support, emotional labor and self-efficacy had a static effect on the quality of service. Based on the results of this study, the following suggestions were made. First, in order to enhance social support, it is necessary to strengthen regular networking with other agency workers, interview with middle managers, and counseling. Second, to raise emotional labor, it is necessary to imprint a sense of mission as a youth leader. Psychological and emotional programs should also be developed and implemented. Third, in order to increase the self-efficacy, it is necessary to strengthen the administrative super vision and strengthen related education such as image making.
