Development and Basic Experiment of Active Noise Control System for Reduction of Road Noise (도로 소음 저감을 위한 능동소음제어 시스템의 개발 및 기초실험)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is about noise which is generated from roads and is consist of irregular frequency variation from low frequency to various band. The existing methods of noise reduction are sound barrier that uses insulation material and absorbing material or have applied passive technology of noise reduction by devices. The total frequency band is needed to apply active noise control. METHODS : In this study applies to the field of road traffic environment, signal processing controller and various analog signal input/output, the amplifier module is based on parallel-core embedded processor designed. DSP performs the control algorithm of the road traffic noise. Noise sources in the open space performance of evaluation were applied. In this study, controller of active signal processor was designed based on the module of audio input/output and main controller of embedded process. The controller of active signal processor operates noise reduction algorithm and performance tests of noise reduction in inside and outside environment were executed. RESULTS : The signal processing controller with OMAP-L137 parallel-core processors as the center, DSP processors in the active control operations dealt with quickly. To maximize the operation speed of an object and ARM processor is external function keys and display for functions and evaluating the performance management system was designed for the purpose of the interface. Therefore the reduction of road traffic noise has established an electronic controller-based noise reduction. CONCLUSIONS : It is shown that noise reduction is effective in the case of pour tonal sound and complex tonal sound below 500Hz by appling to Fx-LMS.

A C++ Extension based on a Parameterized Dataflow Model for Embedded Streaming Applications (내장형 스트리밍 어플리케이션을 위한 매개변수 데이터플로우 모델 기반의 C++ 확장)

  • Many DSP systems are streaming applications in which streams of data constantly flow through a set of filters. Dataflow programming paradigm is one of effective methods for representing these streaming applications. Dataflow programming model explicitly exposes parallelisms within an application, which helps compiling of the application onto a multicore platform. We propose SPEX(Signal Processing Extension), a language extension to a standard imperative language based on the parameterized dataflow model. Parameterized dataflow model is a kind of dataflow model that can express a modest fashion of dynamism contrary to the synchronous dataflow that can represent only static dataflow. SPEX facilitates characterizing an application written in conventional imperative languages such C/C++ as a streaming application. SPEX is comprised of a few keywords augmented to the conventional C++ syntax for representing dataflow paradigm. SPEX also restricts the syntax and semantics of C++ in order to fit the program within a certain streaming programming category. In this paper, we focus on the capability of SPEX in representing streaming computations within filters and streaming communications among filters.

Low Power Digital Servo Architecture for Optical Disc (광디스크 디지털 서보의 저전력 구현 아키텍쳐)

  • Digital servo implementation in optical servo chip has been spotlighted since it is easy to integrate with other blocks and it has less sensitive characteristics change in terms of temperature variation and better flexibility to the system variation like pick-up. Therefore, Optical disc players adopted digital servo are increasing in market. However, one drawback of digital signal processor embedded digital servo is power consumption that is one of the most important factors of portable optical disc player system. For that reason, this paper introduces new architecture to reduce power consumption of digital servo by means of reducing DSP load but increasing minimum hardware size. The main idea of reducing power consumption of digital servo greatly is utilizing CDP characteristics as most operations are done and used up most operating steps of DSP at the initial time, but most power consumption is occurred in play mode. Therefore, if operating steps for digital filtering in play mode could be reduced greatly, power consumption of overall system can be reduced greatly. This paper shows an example that low power digital servo architecture whose current is reduced almost 83%, compare to that of digital servo which is not applied by the low power architecture introduced in this paper.

Optimal Scheduling of SAD Algorithm on VLIW-Based High Performance DSP (VLIW 기반 고성능 DSP에서의 SAD 알고리즘 최적화 스케줄링)

  • SAD (Sum of Absolute Difference) algorithm is the most frequently executing routine in motion estimation, which is the most demanding process in motion picture encoding. To enhance the performance of motion picture encoding on a VLIW processor, an optimal implementation of SAD algorithm on VLIW processor should be accomplished. In this paper, we propose an implementation of optimal scheduling of SAD algorithm with conditional branch on a VLIW-based high performance DSP. We first transform the nested loop with conditional branch of SAD algorithm into a single loop with conditional branch which has a large enough loop body to utilize fully the ILP capability of VLIW DSP and has a conditional branch to make the escape from loop to be achieved as soon as possible. And then we apply a modulo scheduling technique to the transformed single loop. We test the proposed implementation on TMS320C6713, and analyze the code size and performance with respect to processing time. Through experiments, it is shown that the SAD implementation proposed in this paper has small code size appropriate for embedded applications, and the H.263 encoder with the proposed SAD implementation performs better than other H.263 encoder with other SAD implementations.

  • The electronic acupuncture has the advantage of treating the patient with acupuncture by simultaneously analyzing the patient's physical condition and treatment condition. In this paper, it is proposed and developed an electronic acupuncture algorithm embedded in a multi pad. Especially, it is implemented the control algorithm using the optimal electronic dipstick calculation, sensing pad and DSP system for the patient's body condition. Moreover, in this paper, it is developed SW and HW prototypes that can receive personal information by patient and can receive multi-array type electronc needle guiding procedure based on WEB.

Design, Development and Analysis of Embedded Systems for Condition Monitoring of Rotating Machines using FFT Algorithm

  • Rotating machines are an integral part of large electrical power machinery in most of the industries. Any degradation or outages in the rotating electric machinery can result in significant losses in productivity. It is critical to monitor the equipment for any degradation's so that it can serve as an early warning for adequate maintenance activities and repair. Prior research and field studies have indicated that the rotating machines have a particular type of signal structure during the initial start-up transient. A machine performance can be studied based on the effect of degradation in signal parameters. In this paper a data-acquisition system and the FFT algorithm has been design and model using the MATLAB and Simulink. The implementation had been carried out on the TMS320 DSP Processor and various testing and verification of the machine performance had been carried out. The results show good agreement with expected results for both simulated and real-time data. The real-time data from AC water pumps which have rotating motors built-in were collected and analysed. The FFT algorithm provides frequency response and based on this frequency response performance of the machine had been measured.The FFT algorithm provides only approximation about the machine performances.

  • This paper presents the development and control of an omni-directional holonomic mobile robot platform, which is equipped with three lateral orthogonal-wheel assemblies. Omni-directionality can be achieved with decoupled rotational and translational motions. Simulation studies on collision avoidance are conducted. A real robot is built and its hardware is implemented to control the robot. Control algorithm is embedded on DSP and FPGA chips. Hardware for motor control such as PWM, encoder counter, serial communication modules is implemented on an FPGA chip. Experimental studies of following joystick commands are performed to demonstrate the functionality and controllability of the robot.

  • 본 논문에서는 방송, 멀티미디어, 통신 및 가전제어가 가능하고 디지털 아이템의 양방향 거래가 가능한 디지털 컨버젼스 플랫폼을 임베디드 기술을 이용하여 구현하였다. 단말인 SDMP(Software Defined Media Platform)는 디지털 방송과 고화질의 비디오와 오디오를 처리하기 위한 하드웨어 구조를 갖고, 이를 바탕으로 다양한 형태의 코덱 지원 및 여러 가지 서비스를 지원하기 위한 유연 플랫폼 소프트웨어 기술을 이용하여 구현하였다. 디지털 컨버젼스 하드웨어는 RISC CPU와 DSP를 이용하여 임베디드 OS상에서 방송, 통신 및 멀티미디어 서비스를 지원한다. 또한 디지털 컨버젼스 하드웨어는 고성능 DSP를 MPU로 하여 다채널의 입출력 가능한 오디오 코더 및 HD 급 화질 비디오 입출력 처리가 가능하도록 설계한다. 디지털 컨버젼스 소프트웨어는 MEFG-21에 기반한 유연 플랫폼 소프트웨어를 임베디드 Linux 상에서 다양한 서비스 모델을 수용할 수 있는 상위 어플리케이션으로 구현하였다. 이는 네트워크를 통한 멀티미디어를 스트리밍 할 수 있으며, 단순한 재생기의 기능을 넘어서 컨텐츠 제작이 가능하고 능동적인 개념의 다기능 소프트웨어로 컨텐츠를 서로 다른 네트워크 간 혹은 단말 간의 통신이 가능하게 하였다.

  • A realization for digital multimedia receiving system using Conditional Access System is presented in this paper. The key word for descrambling is make from smart card and Conditional Access System, a Stabilization is grow up in the method. It is possible to decoding that of average 15 fame/second of H.264 video format and that 24Khz${\sim}$48Khz audio sample rate using dual processor that of high performance DSP and RISC. This system is evaluated correct descrambling procedure in test stream added that signed user data.

  • This paper presents a part of North Africa/Europe collaboration results in education to develop project-oriented courses in power electronics and motor drive field. The course aims to teach Permanent Magnet motor drives close to a real world project of significant size and depth so as to be motivational, namely mobile robot project. Particular skills, student will acquire, are those relative to the detailed design and implementation of PM motor controllers in DSP based rapid prototyping environment. Simulation work is completed using graphical modeling tools in Simulink/Plecs, while real-time implementation is achieved by means of eZdspF2812 board and Simulink/TI C2000 Embedded Target tools. This flexible development environment fit the robot traction system very well and provides exactly the functionality necessary for an efficient PM motor drives teaching as demonstrated by a set of simulation and experiments.
