The Confidence Band of $ED_{100p}$ for the Simple Logistic Regression Model

  • The $ED_{100p}$ is that value of the dose associated with 100p% response rate in the analysis of quantal response data. Brand, Pinnock, and Jackson (1973) studied the confidence bands of $ED_{100p}$ obtained by solving extremal values algebraically on the ellipsoid confidence region of the parameters in the simple logistic regression model. In this paper, we develope and illustrate a simpler method for obtaining confidence bands for $ED_{100p}$ based on the rectangular confidence region of parameters.

Design of a Low Distortion Head-Mounted Display with Freeform Reflective Mirror Based on Two Ellipsoids Structure

  • A new method to design a low distortion, even relative illumination, optical see-through head-mounted display (HMD) with a freeform reflective mirror (FFRM) based on the two similar ellipsoids structure is proposed. The HMD we have realized has a simple structure which consists of two similar ellipsoid surfaces, an FFRM, a 7-piece co-axis relay lens, and an OLED. This structure can be applied to offset distortion, reach even relative illumination, and correct the off-axis aberrations. The HMD we finally have realized has a near 3% low distortion, a higher than 80% relative illumination, and a 40°×30° field of view (FOV).

속도 제한에 의한 충격량 도형에 관한 연구 (An analysis on the robotic impact geometry with task velocity constraint)

  • This paper describes the effect of impact configurations on a single robot manipulator. The effect of different configurations of kinematically redundant arms on impact forces at their end effectors during contact with the environment is investigated. Instead of the well-known impact ellipsoid, I propose an analytic method on the geometric configuration of the impact directly from the mathematical definition. By calculating the length along the specified motion direction and volume of the geometry, we can determine the characteristics of robot configurations in terms of both the impact along the specified direction and the ability of the robot withstanding the impact. Simulations of various impact configurations are discussed at the end of this paper.

Robust Stabilization of Decentralized Dynamic Surface Control for a Class of Interconnected Nonlinear Systems

  • The analysis and design method for achieving robust stabilization of Decentralized Dynamic Surface Control (DDSC) is presented for a class of interconnected nonlinear systems. While a centralized design approach of DSC was developed in [1], the decentralized approach to deal with large-scale interconnected systems is proposed under the assumption that interconnected functions among subsystems are unknown but bounded. To provide a closed-loop form with provable stability properties, augmented error dynamics for N nonlinear subsystems with DDSC are derived. Then, the reachable set for errors of the closed-loop systems will be approximated numerically in the form of an ellipsoid in the framework of convex optimization. Finally, a numerical algorithm to calculate the $L_2$ gain of the augmented error dynamics is presented.

  • GPS가 우리나라에서 실용화되기 위해서는 Bessel 타원체에 기준한 우리나라의 측지기준계와 GPS에서 사용하는 측지기준계(WGS 84)간의 좌표변환이 선결과제이다. 이 글에서는 여러가지 좌표변환 방법에 대한 고찰과 더불어 국내에서 그동안 수행하여 왔던 좌표변환에 관한 연구결과를 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 토대로 각 좌표변환 방법의 국내의 적용성 여부를 검토하고, 좌표변환의 문제점 및 해결방안과 앞으로의 전망에 대하여 논의 하고자 한다.

Unmasking Multiple Outliers in Multivariate Data

  • We proposed a procedure for detecting of multiple outliers in multivariate data. Rousseeuw and van Zomeren (1990) have suggested the robust distance $RD_i$ by using the Resampling Algorithm. But $RD_i$ are based on the assumption that X is in the general position.(X is said to be in the general position when every subsample of size p+1 has rank p) From the practical points of view, this is clearly unrealistic. In this paper, we proposed a computing method for approximating MVE, which is not subject to these problems. The procedure is easy to compute, and works well even if subsample is singular or nearly singular matrix.

로버스트 추정에 근거한 수정된 다변량 $T^2$- 관리도 (Modified Multivariate $T^2$-Chart based on Robust Estimation)

  • We consider the problem of detecting special variations in multivariate $T^2$-control chart when two or more multivariate outliers are present. Since a multivariate outlier may reflect slippage in mean, variance, or correlation, it can distort the sample mean vector and sample covariance matrix. Damaged sample mean vector and sample covariance matrix have difficulty in examining special variations clearly, An alternative to detection outliers or special variations is to use robust estimators of mean vector and covariance matrix that are less sensitive to extreme observations than are the standard estimators $\bar{x}$ and $\textbf{S}$. We applied popular minimum volume ellipsoid(MVE) and minimum covariance determinant(MCD) method to estimate mean vector and covariance matrix and compared its results with standard $T^2$-control chart using simulated multivariate data with outliers. We found that the modified $T^2$-control chart based on the above robust methods were more effective in detecting special variations clearly than the standard $T^2$-control chart.

  • 지오이드와 기준타원분 사이의 거리, 즉, 지오이드고의 결정은 측지학에서 매우 중요한 문제로 취급되어왔다. 본 논문에서는 곡면다항식(Spherical Surface - Polynomial)에 의한 보간으로 우리나라의 천문지오이드고(Astro - Geodetic Ceoid)를 결정하고자 하였으며, 그 결과로부터 우리나라의 측지강이 동경원점(Too Datum)의 영향을 받고 있음이 확인되었다.

  • Focused shock wave generation was tested under the water by the method of wire explosion. The wire was installed a focal point of the half ellipsoid, and the shock wave was focused on the other focal point. A numerous cavitations were observed in the path of the traveling shock wave and focal point by using high speed camera.

Development of Simple Articulated Human Models using Superquadrics for Dynamic Analysis

  • Objective: This study is aimed at developing Articulated Human Models(AHM) using superquadrics to improve the geometric accuracy of the body shape. Background: The previous work presents the AHM with geometrical simplification such as ellipsoids to improve analysis efficiency. However, because of the simplicity, their physical properties such as a center of mass and moment of inertia are computed with errors compared to their actual values. Method: This paper introduces a three steps method to present the AHM with superquadrics. First, a 3D whole body scan data are divided into 17 body segments according to body joints. Second, superquadric fitting is employed to minimize the Euclidean distance between body segments and superquadrics. Finally, Fee-Form Deformation is used to improve accuracy over superquadric fitting. Results: Our computational experiment shows that the superquadric models give better accuracy of dynamic analysis than that of ellipsoid ones. Conclusion: We generate the AHM composed of 17 superquadrics and 16 joints using superquadric fitting. Application: The AHM using superquadrics can be used as the base model for dynamics and ergonomics applications with better accuracy because it presents the human motion effectively.
