Since it is important to understand data acquiring characteristics through relationship between spatial types and spatial elements and apply it to spatial plans for smooth communication between designer and user of space, the conclusions gained from analysis of data acquiring characteristics of spatial elements through image evaluation by types of interior space can be summarized as in the followings: First, for the amount of acquired data by types of interior space, it shows that the acquired amount of data is to change by types and data acquiring method (phrase and image) even though the spatial elements are same. Second, for the data acquiring process of spatial types by gender, it shows that there is a big difference in acquiring of data according to the evaluation method by phrase and image. Third, for the amount of acquired data of spatial types by gender, it shows that there is a difference between male and female, which is by "classic ${\rightarrow}$ modern ${\rightarrow}$ natural" in case of male and "classic ${\rightarrow}$ natural ${\rightarrow}$ modern" in case of female. regarding both of phrase and image. Fourth, for the evaluation by gender, it shows that there is a deviation in the value of difference according to the elements by which data acquiring characteristics evaluate space. It is considered that this deviation characteristic is in need of reflection in the process of spatial evaluation. This study analyzed data acquiring characteristics of space user's spatial elements through image evaluation by types of space to understand how data acquiring would be changed of spatial elements according to type and gender. Through this study, it expects to make clear that, when a designer is planning a certain space, if the space can be a space for the user by understanding of which elements should be exposed to users by types to acquire more data.
This research is progressed on the premise that there is a basic rule to organize a space in form generation process. In this study first, antecedent researches are inquired, and formal vocabularies related with form generation in space design are founded. Generally in the organizing process of spatial form designer could have selectively combined formal vocabularies consciously or unconsciously, and these formal vocabularies related with form generation are classified with 'formal elements' and 'spatial relationships'. First, as formal elements '2-dimensional line elements(rectilinear, oblique-linear, curvilinear)' are chosen. Second, formal vocabularies of 'spatial relationships' are 37 extracted from literatures related with architectural language or spatial language. Among them there are several vocabularies with similar or same meaning, they are unitized to representative one. Thereupon 20 vocabularies are finally selected as the formal vocabularies of 'spatial relationships', they are addition, subtraction, intersection, superimposition, juxtaposition, shifting, rotation, reflection, scaling, stretching, shear, bending, folding, distortion, articulation, deconstruction, symmetry, repetition, proportion, and asymmetry.
Based on the theory of space perception, this paper concludes that the mixed reality application under the theory of space perception has a three-level definition of visual hierarchy and then analyzes the component elements of interface design and the classification mode of interface windows. Next, carry out case practice research through this theoretical definition, and finally conduct the survey and analysis of questionnaire data, verifying that the mixed reality interface design based on spatial perception theory meets the user experience elements of Usability, Availability, and Attraction. The conclusion is that the constituent elements of interface design and the window classification mode can provide specific and practical design specifications for mixed reality interface design, reduce the interaction cost of completing tasks, reduce users' cognitive load, and make it easier for users to receive interface information

This study investigates the effects of interior design elements on the satisfaction and preference for space. Field measurements and surveys were conducted in three coffeeshops where various interior design elements were applied. Results indicate that movable tables and chairs for two people were preferred in the space. They need to be placed flexibly according to the visitors' needs to improve satisfaction for convenience. To improve spatial satisfaction, the brightness of color applied to wall surfaces was recommended to be lower than that of color used for floor surfaces. The surfaces of space and interior design elements such as furniture also need to be kept clean. Lamps with lower color temperature were effective to enhance spatial satisfaction. Light sources should be shielded when a pendant lighting system with general diffuse type was used in space. Natural daylight through window was also required for better satisfaction level. Multiple linear regression implied that the cozy feeling by electric light, existence of daylight, flexible layouts for tables and chairs, color and quality of material for tables and floor were significant contributors to overall spatial satisfaction.
Sir John Sonae(1753-1837) was the most original English architect of 19c. his extremely personal style is superficially neo-classical but, romantic or ' picturesque' in its complicated and unexpected spatial interplay. The Soane's style was one of the curiosities of European architecture. Sir John Soane, like mackintosh, was best known for his interior spaces. He used his own house as a laboratory of spatial experimentation to develop his spatial ideas. The objective of this study was to examine his architectural style through his various architectural works and analyze . The Soane's Museum (his house, No.12.13.14 Lincoln's Inn Fields. London, UK) in order to find inter design elements which represent the best of Soane's interior design effects. As a result , this study found that Soane held no theories as to proportion . It gives the conditon of the building's freedom. He shows the ' primitivism facade and the simple neoclassical symmetry exterior arrangement. As interior design elements he used the layered structure, the natural skylight, the pendentive dome, the space in space, the pictures que style. These elements create magical interior space of the Sonane's Museum. THe spatial intrigue is further enhanced by various degrees of lighting that additionally emphasize the three-dimensional quality of the object loaded walls and piers. One can always look through to space beyond many individual object, both horizontally and vertically. These interior elements can be used for the modern interior design development in order to create the expansion of space and the territoriality of space.

This study aims at analyzing the therapeutic design characteristics implemented in the indoor atriums of the outpatient areas in four children's hospitals in London and San Francisco. A mixed-method approach was used to examine the spatial configurations and design elements in the atriums, while a literature review was conducted to understand the therapeutic design characteristics relevant to atrium spaces and children's healthcare facilities. The spatial design and the pattern of use of the atrium in each hospital were studied during field visits and interviews with the hospital management staff. Based on the literature review and the observations from the field study, a Visibility Graphic Analysis was chosen to examine the visibility, accessibility, and intelligibility of the spatial configurations in the atriums of each hospital. In addition, the openness, restfulness, and vibrant ambience of the design elements in the atriums of each hospital were investigated by surveying fifty-two design professionals on the quality of the design elements in the atriums. A spatial configuration analysis, confirmed that all the atrium spaces had high visibility, accessibility, and intelligibility due to their high connectivity, integration, intelligibility, and because the atriums were laid out in the open lobby space, along the major circulation axis, or in the circulation intersection. In the survey of the design element evaluation, all atriums proved to be appropriate in terms of openness, while the adequacy of restfulness and vibrant ambience differed depending on the hospitals. Notably, location and orientation, access, natural light, outdoor view, and play facilities were found significant environmental design elements determining the successful implementation of the therapeutic design in the atriums. The observations from the aforementioned are further discussed to enhance the therapeutic design quality of atrium spaces in children's hospitals.
This study was firstly to reflect upon the background of the generation and the urban spatial value and significance of the medieval plaza. The main aim of this study was to extract the spatial determinants which give the great influence on the formation of the medieval plaza and in addition the endogenous rules and aesthetical grounds regarding the respective elements. Especially they could be applied to the design guideline. They are dimension(volume and scale), shape, elevation as the morphological elements and enclosure, proportion, grade difference, spatial sequence and plaza group as the spatial determinants and visual sequence, visual or spatial boundary, approaching axis and perspective effect as the aesthetic and visual elements and function(use), human behaviour as the social-behavioral elements and otherwise, for instance, plaza furniture, ground decoration and vegetation. This study was intended to analyze each elements based on the classical historical literatures and to suggest the planning conditions for composing the ideal plaza referring to the cases and literature review on the medieval plaza and finally is expected to contribute to the plaza design methodology.
The upscale Korean restaurants that appeared as a way for the globalization of Korean food by introducing Western modern elements into Korean traditional elements are presenting a new direction. For this study, the researcher visited a total of ten modernized upscale Korean restaurants including five ones in each of Seoul (Dadam, Bistro Seoul, Bicena, Today, and Poom Seoul) and New York (Gaonnuri, Danji, Ban, Jung Restaurant, Korea Spoon), where the globalization of Korean food is concentrated, and the results of comparing, investigating, and analyzing the characteristics of interior and spatial design through observation, photo taking, sketches and preparing a questionnaire were as follows. First, a modernized upscale Korean restaurant was first built in New York in 2011, and then also appeared in Seoul in 2012. The Korean restaurants in New York were mostly operated by individual person, while the Korean restaurants in Seoul were operated by large corporation. Second, the spatial configuration elements were classified into the reception, garden and rooms in Seoul and into the reception, bar hall and rooms in New York depending on the function of the interior space, showing differences in the spatial configuration elements of the garden and bar. There was a difference in spatial layout; the restaurants in Seoul were room-centered, while the ones in New York were hall-centered. Third, in terms of spatial design elements, the size of the space and furniture in the reception space of the Korean restaurants in New York were smaller as compare to those in Seoul, while the restaurants in New York represented Korean atmosphere by decorating many Korean traditional elements. The Korean restaurants in New York gave consistency to the design of the hall space as compared to the restaurants in Seoul by decorating interior decorative accessories associated with the restaurant name. The Korean restaurants in Seoul decorated room space by using more traditional elements as compared to the restaurants in New York. Fourth, in terms of food design elements, the restaurants in Seoul are characterized by the introduction of Western services and table setting, while the restaurants in New York sought originality that applied foreign ways as compared to the restaurants in Seoul. The results of this study can be used as useful basic data when setting the interior spatial design guidelines for the modernized upscale Korean restaurants that advance into the world beyond Seoul and New York, and it is expected that in-depth follow-up studies would be conducted in various cities beyond Seoul and New York where there are modernized upscale Korean restaurants based on the results of this study.
This study investigates the design features of pilotis applied to 20 high-rise apartment housings in Korea, completed between January 2000 and August 2005. It analyzes the design characteristics of pilotis on the basis of its spatial configuration and the residents' behavior and suggests the directions of pilotis design in the future. The study finds the followings. 1) The pilotis spaces in foreign apartment housings are used mainly for communal functions such as the passages between buildings for both pedestrians and vehicles. Compared with this public use of pilotis in foreign counterparts, the pilotis spaces in Korean apartment housings are semi-private and have multiple purposes. 2) The pilotis design can be classified on the basis of the spatial configuration elements and the patterns of residents' behavior. The spatial configuration elements consist of ceiling, column, wall, and floor; the residents' behavior can be classified as viewing, resting and playing, driving and parking, and keeping privately-owned objects such as motorcycle and bicycle. 3) Two spatial configuration elements, the wall and the ceiling and two behavioral patterns, 'resting and playing' and 'viewing' are getting more attention by designers in the apartment housings analyzed in this study.
The purpose of this study is to set a relationship between intentional system and spatial orientation, and with space model in the human world to orient yourself is to present the basic spatial concepts. This is composed of parts of intentional system and spatial orientation on the research. Through the study of intentional system which is based on the orientation with Daniel Dennett's, it suggests the space-model that composed with aspects of intentionality and spatial elements. With space-model and judgement of spatial types, it makes relationship confirm between them. Through this process, following the results of this study were derived. First, intentional stance of space is the key for building knowledge and memories about space, and for identifying external environment images which are experienced in the senses of human. Second, changing the meaning from space to place makes horizons of space broader and creates a new sense of space with put the intentional orientation into the space. Third, this study can make confirm what the aspect of the space-schema-elements for orientation in space, serves as the presentation elements. This study leaps an old-view of the architectural customs about spatial orientation, and creates an opportunity to refine the newer concept of space. This concept of space is a basic essential for 'site-selection' and 'spot-catching' as an intentional system for spatial orientation and to establish a relationship with human beings in the world of his own orientation to the concept of space.
