The Relationship between Posing and Solving Arithmetic Word Problems among Chinese Elementary School Children

  • Recent research has documented that there is a close relationship between problem posing and problem solving in arithmetic. However, most studies investigated the relationship between problem posing and problem solving only by means of standard problem situations. In order to overcome that shortcoming, a pilot study with Chinese fourth-graders was done to investigate this relationship using a non-standard, realistic problem situation. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between students' problem posing and solving abilities. Based on that pilot study, a more extensive and systematic ascertaining study was carried out to confirm the observed relationship between problem posing and problem solving among Chinese elementary school children. Results confirmed that there was indeed a close relationship between both skills.

초등학교 학생들의 흡연 경험과 흡연에 대한 태도 분석 (Analysis of smoking experience and their smoking attitude among elementary schoolers)

  • 본 연구는 초등학교 고학년 학생들의 흡연 경험 실태, 흡연에 대한 태도, 흡연 유무에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 서술적 조사연구이다. 본 연구는 횡단면 기술적 연구 방법을 통하여 충청도와 강원도 소재 초등학교의 4,5,6학년 학생들 중 총 810명을 편의표본추출방법으로 선정하였으며, 흡연 유무에 따른 특성과 흡연에 대한 태도를 일반화 선형 방법을 이용하여 흡연에 영향을 미치는 영향요인을 분석하였다. 본 연구를 위하여 사전에 Y 대학교의 연구윤리심의위원회(IRB)의 승인을 받았다. 본 연구를 위하여 810명의 학생들이 조사에 포함되었는데, 이들 중 7.3%의 초등학교 고학년 학생들이 흡연 경험이 있다고 보고하였다. 흡연에 영향을 미치는 분석 결과, 흡연 경험이 있는 친구를 가진 학생들, 친구의 담배 권유를 거부가 어려운 학생, 그리고 남학생들이 유의하게 흡연 경험이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 초등학교 학생들을 위한 금연교육은 친구의 담배 권유를 거부할 수 있는 인지 프로그램을 포함한 남학생들을 대상으로 같은 또래들의 정서에 맞는 맞춤 금연 교육 프로그램이 실시되어야 하며, 원하지 않는 흡연 경험으로 인한 피해로부터 초등학생들을 보호하기 위해서는 적극적인 학교의 금연교육을 강화해야 한다.

초등학생 자녀를 둔 취업모와 전업모의 양육불안 (Parenting anxiety about working mother and full-time mother, with elementary school children)

  • 본 연구에서는 초등학생 자녀를 둔 취업모와 전업모의 양육불안에 대해 알아보고, 이를 지원할 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구참여자는 모두 초등학생 자녀를 둔 어머니 20명이었다. 자료수집은 2017년 6월 23일부터 2017년 7월 8일까지 이루어졌다. 집단심층면담을 활용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 취업모가 느끼는 양육불안은 '아이에 대한 미안함', '학부모 역할에 대한 부담감', '돌봄에 대한 어려움'으로, 전업모가 느끼는 양육불안은 '독박육아의 어려움', '남편과의 역할 분담 필요', '재취업과 경력단절의 문제'로 제시하였다. 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 취업모와 전업모의 초등학생 자녀에 대한 양육부담을 경감시켜야 한다. 둘째, 초등학생 자녀를 둔 취업모들을 위한 실질적인 지원방안이 필요하다. 셋째, 초등학생 자녀를 둔 전업모들을 위한 실질적인 지원방안이 필요하다.

인공지능 활용 교육에 대한 초등교사 인식 분석 (The Analysis of Elementary School Teachers' Perception of Using Artificial Intelligence in Education)

  • 본 연구는 인공지능 활용 교육에 대한 초등교사의 인식을 종합적으로 분석하는 목적을 지닌다. 최근 학교 교육 현장에서 인공지능 기술의 활용에 대한 관심이 증대되고 있다. 하지만 초등학교 교사들이 이를 어떻게 인식하는지를 확인하는 연구는 미흡하다. 본 연구는 초등교사 69명을 대상으로 기술통계, 중다회귀분석, 의미변별척도를 활용하여 초등교사들이 교육에서 인공지능 활용에 대해 어떻게 인식하는지를 총체적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 초등교사들은 인공지능 기술이 수업 시간 내 활동을 보조하는데 가장 적합하다고 응답하였으며 교수학습 방법 측면에서는 문제중심학습이 가장 적절하다고 인식하고 있었다. 인공지능의 교육적 활용에 대해 영향을 미치는 요소는 학습 내용, 학습 자료, 인공지능 기기로 나타났다. 인공지능 활용 교육은 개별학습, 참여 촉진, 흥미 유발 등의 특성을 지닌다고 인식하였다. 향후 최적화된 교육 운영을 가능하게 하는 수업 전략이나 모형 개발 등이 이루어질 필요가 있다.

초등 과학수업의 다면적 분석을 중심으로 한 교사 참여형 교육프로그램이 초보교사의 수업전문성에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Teacher Participation-Oriented Education Program Centered on Multi-Faceted Analysis of Elementary Science Classes on the Class Expertise of Novice Teacher)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze The Effect of Teacher Participation-oriented Education Program (TPEP) centered on Multi-Faceted Analysis of Elementary Science Classes on the Class Expertise of novice teacher. First, in order to develop the TPEP, lectures and exploratory science classes were analyzed using imaging and eye-tracking techniques. In this study, the TPEP was developed in five stages: image analysis, eye analysis, teaching language analysis, gesture analysis, and class development. Participants directly analyzed the classes of experienced and novice teachers at each stage. The TPEP developed in this study is different from the existing teacher education program in that it reflected the human performance technology aspects. The participants analyzed actual elementary science classes in a multi-faceted way and developed better classes based on them. The results of this study are as follows. First, at the teacher training institutions and the school sites, pre-service teachers and novice teachers should be provided with various experiences in class analysis and multi-faceted analysis of their own classes. Second, through this study, we were able to identify the limitations of existing class observations and video analysis. Third, the TPEP should be developed to improve the novice teachers' class expertise. Finally, we hope that the results of this study are used as basic data in developing programs to improve teachers' class expertise in teacher training institutions and education policy institutions.

발명 애니메이션이 초등학생의 발명 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Invention Animation on Invention Attitudes in Elementary School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of the invention animations on the invention attitudes of elementary school students. This study was conducted with a pre-and-post test experimental design. The participants were 73 students from J elementary school in Daejeon. Among them, 36 students were the experiment group and 37 students were the comparison group. Watching invention animations were conducted in a classroom everyday for 24 times. Assessments of Invention Attitudes were administered to all the participants during the pre-test and post-test. To analyze the data, the analysis of covariance(ANCOVA) was adopted. The result of this study was as follows: The experimental group who watched invention animations showed significantly higher improvement in Invention Attitudes and sub-factors of Invention Attitudes(Attentional Attitude, Emotional Attitude, Cognitional Attitude) than the comparison group. In conclusion, watching invention animations had positive effect on the invention attitudes of elementary school students.

  • The purpose of this paper is to establish standard for selecting musical materials for teaching English pronunciation in elementary school. For this purpose, 110 songs of wee sings and the curricula of English and Music of elementary school are analyzed, and the results became the basis of establishing standards. Four standards are established and each standard divided into several steps according to the degree of complexity. And the degree of complexity of two songs are figured out to know the possibility of application.

  • This study aims to analyze types of science museum worksheets developed by elementary pre-service teachers and their perspectives on the requirements and necessity of science museum worksheets. As analysis subjects, this study selected 38 kinds of worksheets and reports developed by 114 elementary pre-service teachers who were in the third year of university of education. In this study, the science museum selected for elementary pre-service teachers to develop worksheets was a national science museum, composed of 'Nature and Discovery Museum', 'Science Technology and Industry Museum' and 'Children's Museum', which was located in a metropolitan city and opened in 2013. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; Firstly, as a result of analyzing the science museum worksheets developed by elementary pre-service teachers, this study found out that the experience type with hands-on and observation techniques applied was most, and as an approach method, direct manipulation, look-in observation and close observation were most. However, although these science museum worksheets were experience-oriented, many of them were survey-oriented ones that suggested too many questions through various exhibits. Secondly, as a result of analyzing requirements of science museum worksheets elementary pre-service teachers thought and described through the word tree of NVivo 10, this study extracted 10 kinds of main themes, out of which the requirement, 'A limited amount of activity should be required', showed the highest frequency. Thirdly, as a result of analyzing the necessity of science museum worksheets elementary pre-service teachers thought and described through the word tree of NVivo 10, this study extracted 9 kinds of main themes, out of which the opinion, 'It is required to help students check an exhibit which may be passed by', was most.

The Microbiological Safety Evaluation of Foodservice Facilities and Side Dishes in Elementary Schools and Universities in the Jeolla-do Region

  • The microbiological safety of foodservice facilities and side dishes in 6 elementary schools and 6 universities in the Jeolla-do region was evaluated. The micro-aerosol evaluation of foodservice facilities including the kitchen, refrigerators, and freezers showed a comparatively high level of microbial contamination. In the microbial safety evaluation of cooking utensils and appliances, the total plate counts of serving tables, cutting boards, and food plates were comparatively high, but did not reveal significant counts of coliforms, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli were both below the general limit of microbial contamination. The microbiological safety of the cooking utensils and appliances were satisfactory. In the microbiological safety evaluation of side dishes served at these foodservice facilities, microbial counts were generally below the limit of microbial contamination.

Effect of confining stress on representative elementary volume of jointed rock masses

  • Estimation of representative elementary volume (REV) of jointed rock masses is critical to predict the mechanical behavior of field-scale rock masses. The REV of jointed rock masses at site is strongly influenced by stress state. The paper proposed a method to systematically studied the influence of confining stress on the REV of jointed rock masses with various strengths (weak, medium and strong), which were sourced from the water inlet slope of Xiaowan Hydropower Station, China. A finite element method considering material heterogeneity was employed, a series of two-dimensional (2D) models was established based on the Monte-Carlo method and a lot of biaxial compressive tests were conducted. Numerical results showed that the REV of jointed rock masses presented a step-like reduction as the normalized confining stress increased. Confining stress weakened the size effect of jointed rock masses, indicating that the REV determined under uniaxial compression test can be reasonably taken as the REV of jointed rock masses under complexed in-situ stress environment.
