  • A set {$a_1,\;a_2,{\ldots},\;a_m$} of positive integers is called a Diophantine m-tuple if $a_ia_j+1$ is a perfect square for all $1{\leq}i$ < $j{\leq}m$. In this paper, we show that the form of third element in Diophantine pairs and develop some results which are needed to prove the extendibility of the Diophantine pair {a, b} with some conditions. By using this result, we prove the extendibility of Diophantine pairs {$F_{k-2}F_{k+1},\;F_{k-1}F_{k+2}$} and {$F_{k-2}F_{k-1},\;F_{k+1}F_{k+2}$}, where $F_n$ is the n-th Fibonacci number.

  • In this study, an analytic model is developed to predict Nusselt numbers for turbulent flow in a rod bundle. Flow channel area is divided into several element channels, and simple algebraic equations of universal velocity and temperature profiles are integrated over each element channel. The integral equations are then added to yield an analytic expression for the nusselt number of a rod bundle. The analytic model reasonably predicts the available heat transfer data.

  • This paper presents an eddy current loss analysis for a transverse flux rotary machine (TFRM) with laminated stator cores, which consist of inner and outer cores whose laminated directions are perpendicular to each other. Although the TFRM is laminated to reduce eddy current losses, it still exhibits rapidly increasing core losses as the frequency increases. To solve this problem, slits are introduced to the stator outer core. 3-dimensional finite element analysis (3D FEA) based on the T-${\Omega}$ formulation is used to solve the eddy-current problem for a various numbers of slits in the nonlinear lamination core. The effects of the slits are confirmed using experiment data and 3D FEA results.

  • An ultraprecision rotary motor is developed using inchworm motion of two belts actuated by elongation of piezoelectric elements. A symmetric lever mechanism with flexure hinges is designed to connect belts with piezoelectric elements. The lever mechanism is used not only to amplify the elongation of piezoelectric element but also to minimize the numbers of components and the effort for assembly. By experiment, the rotational angle by one cycle is varied from $0.2{\times}10-4 rad to 9.76{\times}10-4$ rad depending on input signal amplitude. Further, the motor has the capability of getting more precise rotational resolution by enlarging the radius of the rotor.

  • An excellent mesh construction is of Importance in yielding good results of finite element analysis. The new mesh generation algorithm, which offsets boundaries inward, was developed on the basis of a looping method. An user interface technique and automatic splitting lines which both divide a given domain into subdomains manually or automatically, were used. In addition, the separation method has advantages to prevent the large scale of element size and to control numbers of nodes and elements. This new mesh generation algorithm was proved in practice.

  • Shape rolling has been studied experimentally by many researchers. As large numbers of process variables are involved and the material flow is difficult to analyze in shape rolling, the use of numerical techniques as an engineering tool becomes extremely attractive. The first numerical approach to the three-dimensional plastic deformation of rolling was to investigate side spread in flat rolling. Oh and Kobayashi conducted a pioneering study in this field by applying an extremum principle for rigid, perfectlyplastic materials combined with the numerical computation. Since then, several other researchers have used three-dimensional finite element method for analysing spread in rolling . In this investigation of shaperolling al the computer simulations of shape rolling were conducted using TASKS. To verify the predictive capabilities of TASKS the first example chosen was square-to-round shape rolling

  • This paper reports the principle, design, configuration, and test results of the fiber optic security system using multimode fiber. In this system, optical fiber works as a sensing element. The length of sensing element may be from several meters to several killometers. Physical principle of this system is the dependence of interferometric pattern on the end of the fiber on mechanical perturbation in the area, where this fiber is situated. Near and far field patterns of the output light for multimode fiber are speckle pattern. A number of speckles on the fiber depends on mode numbers. Light intensity in each point of the fiber end depends on phase difference of modes. Finally we introduced a "Fiber Optic Security System based on Multimode" Fiber which we developed, it may be available in the field of the important area and building.

  • The present research describes the Bragg reflection of obliquely incident waves propagating over sinusoidally varying topographies. A numerical model based on the boundary element method is employed. Wave numbers providing Bragg reflection are calculated and compared to theoretical predictions. The reflection coefficients obtained from this model are also compared with those of the eigenfunction expansion method. A very good agreement is observed.

  • In this paper, we proposed the outer-rotor type of FSPM motor for high speed operation and optimized motor shape. First of all, combinations of pole and slot numbers are examined for the optimal back-EMF and cogging torque, then optimizes the better shape design of the permanent magnet, rotor pole width. Further, The winding turns are obtained by circle of the voltage limit equation and motor parameters to minimize the current and to improve the efficiency. As a result, the performance of the designed model is satisfied, and it is verified through a two-dimensional finite element method (2D-FEA).
