  • Cloud computing technology based on centralized high-performance computing has brought about major changes across the information technology industry and led to new paradigms. However, with the rapid development of the industry and increasing need for mass generation and real-time processing of data across various fields, centralized cloud computing is lagging behind the demand. This is particularly critical in emerging technologies such as autonomous driving, the metaverse, and augmented/virtual reality that require the provision of services with ultralow latency for real-time performance. To address existing limitations, distributed and edge cloud computing technologies have recently gained attention. These technologies allow for data to be processed and analyzed closer to their point of generation, substantially reducing the response times and optimizing the network bandwidth usage. We describe distributed and edge cloud computing technologies and explore the latest trends in their standardization.

  • Cost-effective, robust devices for solid-state lighting industry that converts electricity to light revolutionize the current lighting industry. Phosphor materials used in these devices should be synthesized in a low-cost and effective method for use in WLEDs. In this presentation, the synthesis of Eu3+ ions doped BaMoO4 phosphor samples by a facile synthesis process for red component of WLEDs will be shown. The tetragonal phase of the host lattice was substantiated by the X-ray diffraction patterns. The morphological studies were carried out by using a field-emission scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope. These confirmed the formation of a shuttle like particles with perpendicular protrusions in the middle of the particle. The photoluminescence (PL) properties exhibited good emission with a high asymmetry ratio when excited with ultraviolet B wavelengths (~ 280-315 nm). The cathodoluminescence (CL) spectra showed similar results to the PL spectra, indicating the rich red emission. The results suggest that this phosphor is a good material as red region component in the development of tri-band UV excitation based WLEDs.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the productivity change of the 10 Single PPM Certification Company in the 3 Industry(Electronics, Motor-Parts, Machines). In this study, Productivity change over the time in Korean small and medium sized firms in the 3 industries by the bootstrapped Malmquist Productivity Index(MPI). The traditional Malmquist Productivity Index(MPI) and Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) Models have not only bias but also lack statistical confidence intervals. they could lead to wrong evaluations of the efficiency and productivity scores. In this paper, DEA and a MPI are combined with a bootstrap method in order to provide statistical inferences that analyze the performance of the Single PPM Certification Company. The data cover the period between 2004 and 2007. The result of this paper reveals : 1) The Electronics Industry had productivity effect of 17%, but there was not direct effect for other Industries(Motor-Parts, Machines). 2) average productivity Progress of the 7DMU(Electronics), 1DMU(Motor-Parts) and none(Machines).

  • R&D strategies of companies with low and high technological levels are discussed based on the concept of technology convergence and divergence. However, empirically detecting enterprise technology convergence in the distribution of enterprise technology (total productivity increase) over time and identifying key change factors are challenging. This study used a novel statistical indicator that captures the internal technology distribution change with a single number to clearly measure the technology distribution peak as a change in critical bandwidth for enterprise technology convergence and presented it as evidence of each technology convergence or divergence. Furthermore, this study applied the quantitative technology convergence identification method. Technology convergence appeared from the separation of total corporate productivity distribution of 69 IT companies in Korea in 2019-2020 rather than in 2015-2016. Results indicated that when the total technological level was separated from the technology leading and technology catch-up, IT companies were found to be pursuing R&D strategies for technology catch-up.

  • This study proposes the accurate economic effect (employment inducement coefficient, hiring inducement coefficient, index of the sensitivity of dispersion, index of the power of dispersion, and ratio of value added) of Korea software industry by analyzing the inter-industry relation using the modified inter-industry table. Some previous studies related to the inter-industry analysis were reviewed and the key problems were identified. First, in the current inter-industry table publishedby the Bank of Korea, the output of software industry includes not only the output of pure software industry (package software and IT services) but also the output of non-software industry due to the misclassification of the industry. This causes the output to become bigger than the actual output of the software industry. Second, during rewriting the inter-industry table, the output is changing. The inter-industry table is the table in the form of rows and columns, which records the transactions of goods and services among industries which are required to continue the activities of each industry. Accordingly, if only an output of a specific industry is changed, the reliability of the table would be degraded because the table is prepared based on the relations with other industries. This possibly causes the economic effect coefficient to degrade reliability, over or under estimated. This study tries to correct these problems to get the more accurate economic effect of the software industry. First, to get the output of the pure software section only, the data from the Korea Electronics Association(KEA) was used in the inter-industry table. Second, to prevent the difference in the outputs during rewriting the inter-industry table, the difference between the output in the current inter-industry table and the output from KEA data was identified and then it was defined as the non-software section output for the analysis. The following results were obtained: The pure software section's economic effect coefficient was lower than the coefficient of non-software section. It comes from differenceof data to Bank of Korea and KEA. This study hasa signification from accurate economic effect of Korea software industry.

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) has become the hottest topic in information and communications technology (ICT) in recent years. Along with the advancement of AI technology, technologies such as big data, cloud, and high-speed wired and wireless communication are being applied to existing media areas in earnest, affecting all parts of the media value chain from content production to consumption. AI technology is now spreading across the media industry faster than any other industry. In the future, the gap between those with and without AI technology will widen, further deepening the polarization of the media ecosystem. Media intelligence, which combines media and AI technologies, is now perceived as essential, not optional. In this paper, we examine the current status of technology development and standardization by major domestic and foreign institutions on how AI is being utilized in the media industry. In addition, we discuss what technology should be developed to lead media intelligence.

  • It is important to choose and develop right business model in the process of implementing the ubiquitous service concept. In particular, it is also required to build a method which can assist in establishing a business model in a competitive perspective to differentiate business strategy. However, we could not find the existing studies which tried to develop business model including methods on how to differentiate business strategy in a competitive environment. In this study, we propose an ontology for repository of ubiquitous business model and address on how to apply the proposed business model repository to real ubiquitous industry. We also built a repository of unlicensed wireless device industry to check the applicability of proposed ubiquitous business model ontology and to show the various examples. We expect that building the business model repository contributes to reduce the redundancy and inefficiency for industry as well as to increase likelihood of business success for an individual company.
