  • In this paper, a stress wave model is established to describe the three states (separate, contact and impact) of clearance joints. Based on this stress wave model, the propagation characteristics of stress wave generated in clearance joints is revealed. First, the stress wave model of clearance joints is established based on the viscoelastic theory. Then, the reflection and transmission characteristics of stress wave with different boundaries are studied, and the propagation of stress wave in viscoelastic rods is described by the characteristics method. Finally, the stress wave propagation in clearance joints with three states is analyzed to validate the proposed model and method. The results show the clearance sizes, initial axial speeds and material parameters have important influences on the stress wave propagation, and the new stress waves will generate when the clearance joint in contact and impact states, and there exist some high stress region near contact area of clearance joints when the incident waves are superposed with reflection waves, which may speed up the damage of joints.

  • Although research efforts for brain waves have prospered in medicine and engineering, acupuncture still has a long way to go regarding researches on brain waves analysis. Thus this study set out to analyze brain waves stimulated by indirect mugwort moxibustion, which was part of acupuncture techniques, and to investigate their correlations with the automatic nervous system. For the experiments, stimulation was given to Jungwan, Shingwol and Gwanwon, which were some of the spots on the body suitable for acupuncture, through indirect mugwort moxibustion. The subjects' brain waves were measured before the stimulation, during the stimulation, and one hour and two hours after the stimulation. The measurements were analyzed with Matlab 7.0 for FFT and frequency power spectrum. Then the ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\delta}$, and ${\theta}$ waves were analyzed and examined for changes to the percentage of each frequency and to the amplitude of vibration according to the stages of stimulation. The EEG data of the entire brain were translated into FFT to analyze the percentage of the ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\delta}$, and ${\theta}$ waves. As a result, the ${\alpha}$ waves recorded a double increase after the stimulation. The power spectrum analysis results of the entire brain decreased the ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ waves dropping in the energy level, which suggested that the parasympathetic nerves were activated. When the results of the study were compared with those of the previous study, it's confirmed that indirect moxibustion stimulation could cause changes to the automatic nervous system and bring stability to those who were nervous or under stress due to the proportionate increase of the ${\alpha}$ waves.

  • The most of conventional ultrasonic transducers are constructed to generate either longitudinal or shear waves, but not both of them. We investigated the mechanism of dual mode transducers that generates both of the longitudinal and shear waves simultaneously with a single PZT element. The study has been aimed to find the desired cut by the examining the piezoelectric properties. Theory predicts that a mixed P/S mode transducer can be constructed using a related Z-cut of a PZT ceramics. We studied the performance of a PZT element as a function of its rotation angle so that its efficiency is optimized to excite the two waves equally strongly. The results are verified by checking the impedance variation of the element with Finite Element Methods, and chocking the wave form by pulse-echo test simulation. Based upon the theory a rotated Z-cut was prepared and a transducer were fabricated. Validity of the theory calculation is verified through the

  • This study investigates the mechanism of a dual mode probe that generates both of the longitudinal and shear waves simultaneously with a single FZT element. Most of conventional ultrasonic probes are constructed to generate either longitudinal or shear waves. After poling, PZT has the hexagonal 6mm crystal symmetry. All possible crystal cuts are checked to determine appropriate Euler transformation angles for efficient excitation of dual modes. For the selected cut, performance of the dual mode element is analyzed through numerical simulation and experiments. Results of the analysis determine the optimal crystal cut for simultaneous generation of P and S waves of equal strength.

  • Radiation noise due to EMI noise generated by the driving circuits of LED lighting devices in a medical imaging room was reduced by decreasing the noise source in the driving circuits and changing the number of corrections in EMI filters. Noise attenuation and filter changes enabled driving circuits that reduced the electromagnetic waves. Such circuits were efficiently designed by using capacitors and inverters in a given space. Therefore, the malfunction of radiation devices can be minimized by using EMI-reduction filter circuits, and reliable operation of medical devices can be expected by blocking electromagnetic waves.

  • In order to visualize the transfer of sound waves, we performed real-time processing with the fast operating system of GPU, the Graphics Processing Unit. Simulation by using the method of the discrete Huygens' model was also implemented. The sound waves were visualized by varying the real-time processing, the reflecting surfaces within the two-dimensional virtual sound field, and the states of the sound source. Experimental results have shown that reflection and diffraction patterns for the sound waves were identified at the reflecting objects.

  • In this paper, we aimed to analysis EEG signals related to concentration of adolescents using letter visual stimulus to induce the concentration. The visual stimulus tasks were searching errors of propositional particle in several sentences. In the EEG signals, we specially focussed on SMR waves and mid-beta waves according to the results of a preceding research. Therefore we presented position of channel and frequency band of mid-beta significantly related to the concentration waves as the experimental results.

  • In this paper the influence of CMOS- and TTL-technology on the breakdown and destruction effects by artificial electromagnetic waves is determined. Different electronic devices(3 CMOS & 5 TTL) were exposed to high amplitude electromagnetic waves. CMOS ICs were occurred only destruction below the max electric field and TTL ICs were occurred breakdown and destruction below the max electric field. The SEM analysis of the destruction devices showed onchipwire and bondwire destruction like melting due to thermal effect. The test results are applied to the data which understand electromagnetic wave effects of electronic equipments.

  • In this paper, partial discharge(PD) was generated under the two types of needle -plane electrodes in the air. Using a monopole antenna to detect the radiated electromagnetic waves by stream of charge between the electrodes. the progress of partial discharge was studied. To analyze the progress of PD, statistical re-search was introduced. It was executed by personal computer and it can be possible to visualize the progress of PD. The t-test was used for lower voltage applied. The population of background noise spectrum and applied voltage spectrum showed the difference. The new method was introduced to analyze the spectrum. According tho the magnitude of applied voltage, the different statistical methods were used. The results obtained from this work will provide the useful information on partial discharge in time to come.
