  • The response speed enhancement in picosecond photoconductor made from RF planar magnetron sputtered hydrogenated amorphous germanium thin film is discussed. Pulsed laser annealing technique was used to fabricate the highly conductive ohmic contacts and to remove the shallow deflects in the deposited photoconductive film using the different laser powers. Measured V-I curve showed -5 times bigger conductance in photoconductive gap than the one used by the conventional vacuum annealing method using strip heater.

  • In this paper, we proposed development of improved model reduction and design of hierarchical controller using reduction model. The model reduction is considered that it is the transient response and the steady-state response through the use of nyquist curve. The hierarchical controller selected tuning of PID controller to ensure specified gain and phase margin and hybrid smith-predictor fuzzy controller using reduction model. Simulation examples are given to show the better performance of the proposed method than conventional methods.

The demand response algorithm for protecting it is needed, and developed introducing the concept of transient stability by nonlinear transition matrix. Two case studies are carried out.

  • In order to realize the simple and economic 3rd order LPF using switched-capacitor(SC), we proposed the 3rd order RC LPF using a OP amplifier and realized the 3rd order SC LPF by replacing all the resistors in the RC LPF to SC. The frequency response of SC LPF was compared with the that of RC LPF. As a result, it was found that the response of realized SC LPF is almost similar to that of RC LPF.

  • An automatic tuning method of a PID controller which is used for single input single output processes is proposed. In the proposed tuning method, the frequency response data model is adopted along with the performance index which is an integral of time weighted square error between reference model and process frequency response data model for tuning. This method is easier to retune when either the process dynamics is changed or the reference model is changed. Finally, an example is provided to show the usefulness of the method.

  • This paper presents the design and the optimal control method of current-fed half-brige switching regulator. To achieve fast response load current variation is fed to control input, and simple optimal control model has been derived with provision of current control loop in the control circuit. Test results show that the control system model is correct and 5ms response time has been obtained at 25 KHz switching frequency.

  • The model reference adaptive control algorithm (MRAC), which is one of the methods for controlling the speed of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), has been developed using the autoregressive (ARMAX) method. Applying this algorithm to a microprocessor which is used in driving PMSM with PI controller, it has been proved that the response speed of the reference input follows closely that of the reference model. It has also been proved by experiments that the quick speed response without over-shoot could be obtained for the motor system with variable parameters.

  • In this paper, we present the ABR(Auditory Brainstem Response) as a clinical application. ABRs are composed of several waves or peaks. In recent years, the use of ABRs has gained popularity as one of the methods of choice in determinig hearing thresholds of newborns and infants. We introduce labeling and computational methods of peak identification in ABR.

  • In this paper, we have investigated pole-zero shifting due to variable stopband frequency Ws and passband ripple Ap of elliptic function filters. Also we have studied the phase, group-delay, unit step response and impulse response of elliptic filters. We show that in the passband the phase linearity improves as Ws increases, and eventually it approaches that of a chebyshev function filter.

  • In this paper, an novel optical measuring system based on the electro-optic effect has been proposed and realized using Pockels cell with a view to detecting partial discharge taking place at the needle plane electrode. This system has the following advantages ; nonmetallic probe sensor, immune to external EMI noise and broad band response of the Pockels cell from DC to GHz. This system is constructed by He-Ne laser, Mach-Zehnder interferometer with Pockels sensor, balanced photo receiver, data acquisition board and PC. The response characteristics of the developed proto type sensor are examined for AC and corona discharge.
